Our 10/21/06 Wedding Review- Lands End, North Island Photography, Wild Rose, Parties Alive, James Cress, Bridal Suite Bay Shore, Rogers Tuxedos, Ballroom Dance LI and more

Our wedding day was amazing! It was the best day of our lives. All of the planning and hard work paid off. We do not have any complaints. I don’t have any professional pictures yet but there are some pictures in my albums. Feel free to check those out.

Weather- A+- The weather was incredible. It was 60 degrees and sunny and the sky was clear and blue. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

Invitations- A+- Classic Invitations and Favors Selden, NY
Our invitations were by Encore Studios. They were very simple. The invitations were Ecru and had a border around them. The writing was in chocolate brown.

Programs- We made the programs ourselves. We ordered the paper from Paper Direct.com. They turned out beautiful.

Baskets- I made these myself too. I bought the baskets at Michaels and put some ribbon and tulle on them. They were beautiful as well.

Ring Pillow and Guest Book- www.bridalpeople.com- A+
I ordered these online a while ago. I found a pillow and guest book in a light brown that I thought would look great with out color sceme.

Unity Candle- www.ariacandlecompany.com A+
I ordered these online as well. We got the large candle and two tapers and the holder. The large candle had a silver heart and our names and the date. The candle was ivory. We also got two other candles to give to our parents. The price was reasonable and we were very happy.

Rings- Diamond Jewelers, Selden- A+++++
My husband went there for my engagement ring. The jeweler custom made it based on a picture. We went back of course for my wedding band and he did an outstanding job. Nicole, the manager there is great!

Dresses- Bridal Suite of Bay Shore- A ++++++
This was one of the first stores I went to. I went for the first time in December and met with this great woman named Mary. I found my dress and I absolutely loved it! It had just come into the store that day and Mary wanted me to try it on and I fell in love! We went back in February and ordered my dress (when my mom was around) and we ordered the BM and FG dresses there also. I also ordered my veil and headpiece from them. Everyone complimented on how well the veil went with my dress. Their service and alternations were wonderful.

Shoes- Craft Shoes, Commack A+++
I know that Craft Shoes doesn’t always get the best reviews. But I got my bridal shoes there and my MOH got her shoes there. We had no problems with the dye jobs. Everything looked great. You just need to go in there with some time and have a little patience.

Tuxes- Roger’s Tuxedos, Smithtown – A +
My DH wore a champagne vest with a champagne tie. It looked great and went with my dress very well. The guys wore chocolate brown vests and ties. My dad and grandpa wore mercury (dark grey) vests with coordinating ties. Rachel and everyone there were incredible. We had most of our guys that live out of state and they were great with measurements and everything looked and fit perfectly. I highly recommend them!

Dance Lessons- Ballroom Dance Long Island- John- A+++++++++++++++
My husband and I decided we wanted to take dance lessons for our first dance song. We found John through LIWeddings and he was great. We took about 6 lessons and love it. Our first dance was incredible and everyone was very impressed. John is a great teacher.

Hair & Makeup- Kimera Salon, Hicksville A++++++++++++++ (Evette)
For my wedding day, I went to my regular salon and regular stylist. Evette is incredible. I have been going to her for 6 years and I wouldn’t dream of having anyone other than her do my hair and makeup for my wedding day. She was incredible! I did a hair and makeup trial with her and we made a few changes and I was thrilled with how everything turned out the day of. The people at Kimera are amazing. Six other people came in at 7 am to do hair and makeup for my mom, grandma, MOH, 2 BM and FG. They are amazing!!!!

Hotel- Hyatt Windwatch, Hauppauge A++
We worked with Heather at the Hyatt. She was wonderful. We had 25 rooms booked. We had lots of friends and family from out of town. Everyone raved about the hotel. They have an indoor swimming pool, workout room, lounge and it is beautiful. They gave us a great rate as well. My parents live out of state as well and got a suite room for the night before and after the wedding which was a wonderful idea. We all hung out in their suite until late at night!

OOT Bags- A+

I made these myself. I bought cream colored plastic gift bags and put chocolate brown and cream colored tissue paper in them. I also put two bottles of water, a pack of gum, 100 calorie packs, mints, York peppermint patties, peanut butter crackers, chocolates, band aids, Advil, a letter to our guests and a packet of things to do/ places to eat in the area. Everyone raved about them and said they were a nice touch and very helpful upon arrival.

Limos- All Star Limos- Farmingdale- A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All Star Limos are the best!!! First of all, they arrived at the hotel early. All of the limos were extremely clean and smelled great. The 1961 Rolls Royce was the car of my dreams for my wedding day and it was great!!! To make a long story short, my grandparents got left behind at the hotel and weren’t at the church (this was the only flaw in our day). When we realized that, one of the drivers from All Star left the church in Farmingdale, drove to Hauppauge to the hotel to get my grandparents and back to Farmingdale. They made it by the end of the mass. They are amazing! All of the drivers were great. They took our flowers from the church to the reception and all of our other things from the church! Debbie is a pleasure to work with.

Bus- Elite Transport- Middle Island- A+
Like I said earlier, we had a lot of out of town guests and we were concerned about them finding their way around. So we hired a 33 passenger bus from Elite Transport. It was the best money ever spent. Everyone loved the idea and everyone was able to have a good time without worrying about driving. The bus was very clean and the driver was great!

Church- St. Kilian’s Parish, Farmingdale A+++++++
This is the church I grew up in. We asked a good friend of the family and former St. Kilian priest to be our priest. Father Chuck who is currently the pastor at Infant Jesus in Port Jefferson was our celebrant. He did an outstanding job! He made us feel comfortable, made us laugh and made the mass extremely personal and meaningful. St. Kilians is a beautiful church and of course looked outstanding on our wedding day.

DJ- Parties Alive- Richie- Kings Park- A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Richie and his guys from Parties Alive were outstanding!!!! We saw Richie at a Bridal Showcase last November and met with them the next day and booked them. Richie is the owner of the company and an extremely pleasant and hard-working person. He was very easy to contact, always answered my emails and was extremely helpful before our wedding day. On our wedding day, he went above and beyond. He played all of the songs we wanted. We loved all of the music he played. He asked us many times if everything was ok. Our guest raved about the music and the dance floor was packed the entire time. I highly recommend Richie and Parties Alive!!!

Photographer- North Island Photography, Setauket- Michael & Meghan – A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We fell in love with Michael’s work when we first saw him last December. He has a very unique style that suited us. We had our engagement pictures taken and loved working with him and how they came out. Michael and Meghan were both great about responding to all o my questions and emails. The day of they came early to the hotel and took pictures of me getting ready and they were great! After the mass, they quickly took some pictures at the church and then took pictures at Lands End. Michael and Meghan knew that we had limited time and were extremely efficient at taking pictures and we even got to enjoy part of our cocktail hour. The proofs are incredible! We got over 800 proofs. They are in the process of putting together our album now.

Videographer- Wild Rose Video, Islip- Bill- A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Again, we haven’t seen our video yet but we loved everything about Wild Rose. Bill also arrived early to video me getting ready. He filmed along side the Rolls Royce when we were on the way to the church. He came outside on the beach at Lands End and filmed. All of our guests raved about how non-intrusive and how professional he was. We picked up our video on 3/18/07 and it was outstanding! We watched it in its entirety and it made us laugh and cry. Wild Rose Video is an amazing company that I highly recommend. They do outstanding work!!!


Flowers- James Cress Florist, Smithtown- A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Breathtaking is the word! The bouquets were beautiful and exactly what we wanted. I had mango calle lilies and the girls had a mix of fall colored flowers (sunflowers, mums, roses, calle lilies, etc). The colors were gorgeous. The pew flowers and bows were great. The altar arrangements were great. When we arrived at Lands End the centerpieces were incredible in the room. I loved them. People were fighting over who was going to take them home. The flowers on the cake were great as well. James Cress took care of every little detail. Our moms had hand held bouquets which were perfect. Our flower girl had her own small bouquet. Everyone keeps saying how beautiful the flowers were.

Favors- Godiva Chocolates, Smithhaven Mall- A+++++
We ordered the Godiva Chocolate favors a while before the wedding. We picked them up a few days before and they were all bagged and ready to go. They even gave us a big box of truffles as a gift. All of the guests enjoyed them.

Kids Bags
I made these for the kids. I ordered brown bags and filled them with crayons, coloring books, activity books, card games, homemade lollipop and personalized M&M. The kids loved them. They were so excited to get a present at the reception.

Lands End, Sayville- A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Lands End is outstanding! I can’t even begin to describe what a perfect day we had at Lands End. First of all, from the moment we booked Jennifer was extremely helpful. She answered all of my questions and helped us with everything. We went to a vendor showcase and tasting there and loved every minute. On our wedding day, upon arrival we walked into the ballroom and my breath was taken away. Everything looked beautiful. We then immediately went to the bridal suite and were greeted by our bridal attendant, Judy and offered drinks or anything. We took a bunch of pictures in the bridal suite and on the beach and the bridal attendant took such good care of us. The grounds were so beautiful and colorful. When we were done taking pictures we went into the cocktail hour for a little while and then we were escorted to the back and given more food before the introductions. The bridal attendant also took care of my bustle whenever I needed it! She was incredible. They helped arrange everyone for the entrance and we walked in and danced our first song. On our dais table, was more food from the cocktail hour and our drinks. The maitre-d was always making sure we ate. The service was outstanding. The maitre-d explained that she found cards and put them away for us and everything. The crab cake was out of this world. They brought us our two meals and an extra one to pick off of. Our cake was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. The chocolate fountain was incredible and a big hit. Everyone enjoyed the desert carts and cordial bar as well. All of the wait staff and bar tenders were great. Everyone keeps raving to us about the food, service, grounds, and etc. We have heard, “That was the best wedding ever!” many times from numerous guest. Lands End is a truly outstanding place. All of the Lands End brides will not be let down!
