Our absolutely amazing wedding – May 10, 2008. ~BRENTWOOD COUNTRY CLUB~ UPDATE to include after wedding details with photographer

It’s so true what ever bride writes when they do their review… the day was AMAZING and the best day of my life!! Everything went more than perfect and our vendors out did themselves!! We were soooooo happy with all of them! I don’t have my proofs back yet (obviously because we only got married 2 days ago) but I wanted to write my review ASAP to share the experience we had with all of our vendors just incase another bride is considering using any of them!!! So here we go – I’m going to try and get everything in!!!

Bridesmaid Dresses
David’s Bridal – A+

I know a lot of brides here have had bad experiences with David’s, but mine was a good one. All of my girls’ dresses came in on time and perfect!! There were no mistakes and no mishaps… none of my BMs did their alterations with David’s so I don’t have a review for that, but the ordering and arrival process of all the dresses went great!!

Wedding Gown
RK Bridal – A+++

I absolutely loved everyone at RK Bridal!! Although I did not get my alterations there, they were SO helpful and sweet! They had a HUGE selection of dresses & were reasonably priced! If you can spend a little extra time making the drive into Manhattan, I absolutely recommend RK Bridal!

Tuxedos
Men’s Warehouse, Huntington, NY – D

One of my BMs used Men’s Warehouse and said that she did not have any issues with them what so ever, but she ordered her tuxes at a different location. I have also heard wonderful things about them, so I wouldn’t completely dismiss them, but I would consider not going to the Huntington location because that is where we went and did not have such a great experience.

The ordering process went fine – everyone was very nice and helpful. HOWEVER – DH went to pick his tux up 2 days before (which is what they told us to do) and his jacket was too tight. So they told him to come back the next day and they would take it out a little. So he went back the next day and it was still too tight. DH had to go back the morning of our wedding again after they SWORE it would be taken out & it was still TOO TIGHT. They also screwed up every other GM tux. One best man had a different jacket; the other one had the wrong size shirt. Buttons were missing on a couple of other GM jackets, DH never got a pair of socks and a couple of other tuxes were the wrong size. All of the GMs went back to Men’s Warehouse to get the sizes fixed and they told everyone they would fix them, but did not. All in all, it was fine – despite the differences in jackets and missing buttons, no one noticed at all – but it’s just the point that they didn’t do a great job accommodating THEIR mistakes at all!! So like I said, I have heard wonderful things about Men’s Warehouse, but I would not go to the Huntington location if you plan on getting your tuxes from them.

DOJ, Tiara and other accessories
Tri-County – A+

Some people may think that Tri County isn’t the most top notch place to get anything for their wedding, but let me say that I bought my gloves, tiara, earrings, and hair pins from Tri County and not only were they cheap, but their items were AMAZING!!! We also had the woman whom I bought my tiara from make my flower girl hair clips. We gave her the color ribbon that matched the BMs, told her what I wanted and the end result was absolutely amazing!!! She also only charged my $20 for three clips. I recommend shopping at Tri County for anything that you may need for your wedding, especially for brides on a budget!!

MOB & MOG Dresses
MOB: Estelle’s Dressy Dresses – A+
MOG: Renates Wedding Boutique – A+

Both my mother and DH’s mother were very pleased with the service and selection at both Estelle’s and Renates. My mother actually found her dress on the reduced rack because of a little rip by the zipper. Actual price of her dress was over $200, and she bought it for around $65. Thankfully we have the best family seamstress who was able to fix the little rip in the back and it looked BEAUTIFUL!!! MIL bought her dress at Renates and got the alterations done there and only had wonderful things to say about them!!

Wedding Bands
Zales – A++

We bought our wedding bands right after Christmas, which I totally recommend buying after a major holiday because they have CRAZY sales!! My band is white gold with half the band covered in diamonds & DH’s band is a plain titanium band. Both bands together cost us about $500 because of the wonderful sales they had going on because it was right after Christmas. Zales had a huge selection, everyone was so nice and they have a great insurance/maintenance plan for the bands!!

Mother Nature
A++++++

During the week leading up to our wedding, the weather reports kept changing from “partly cloudy” to “few showers” to “mostly sunny” and then to “rain”. So needless to say I was FREAKING OUT!! However, they weather turned out PERFECT!!! It wasn’t too cold and it wasn’t too hot. The sun peaked out a few times during pictures and right after the ceremony, and there was a nice cool breeze at night. We could not have asked for better weather.

Reception Hall – The Brentwood Country Club

I cannot even begin to say enough absolutely wonderful things about the Brentwood Country Club!!! From planning every detail of the day to the actual event, every single person was overly accommodating and super, super sweet to every one of our guests!!! Everyone is STILL raving about how great the food was and how accommodating all of the waiters were!! My bridal attendant was absolutely amazing and did the best job in the world!! She was so sweet and she even helped me lift up my dress to go to the bathroom! Anything that was needed or requested to be changed at the last minute was taken care of right away and the staff were overly happy to accommodate us. The room looked AMAZING and they set up everything exactly how we asked them to. Everyone raved about the set up of cocktail hour and went on and on about how incredible everything was!!

As most people probably know, BCC has an amazing package deal that includes flowers, photographer, limos, invitations, DJ and wedding cake. For a bride & groom on a budget (as we were) this was the perfect place to have your wedding!! Not only was the BCC staff amazing, but we used all of their house vendors and have nothing but wonderful things to say about all of them!!!! (details below)

Flowers
Ken & Eva’s Flower Cottage, Brentwood, NY – A++++

Not only was everyone there amazingly sweet, their flowers were beautiful!! Since the colors of my BM dresses were like a teal shade so obviously there are no flowers naturally that color. I had flower colors in mind that did not match the dresses, but contrasted the colors nicely. They were SO helpful in giving me advice and making the perfect BOK’s!! The flower colors ended up being a mixture of hot pink, hot orange, light pink and some purple… they ended up being the PERFECT combination of colors and went beautifully with the BM dresses!!! They also arrived on time to my mother’s house which is the most important thing!!

Photographer
Hi Lite Studios, Commack, NY – A++++++++

I would first like to start out by saying that Hi Lite Studios was the house vendor and as I did my research on LIW, I found VERY mixed reviews about them. I have yet to see my proofs (obvi) but I can say that we were SOOOOO pleased with them the day of the wedding!! They were SO SO SO accommodating and helped me move around in my dress for every single picture!! They didn’t stop taking pictures until the very last second of the night and were absolutely sweet to each and every one of our family members/bridal party. Every picture we asked them to take they had no problem snapping away!! They weren’t pushy or overly cheesy, and they got AWESOME shots that I cannot wait to see! I know that outside our package deal with BCC they are VERY reasonably priced, so if anyone is having mixed feelings about using them – GO FOR IT!! They were on time, very professional and stayed until the very end of the reception!!!

okay i know this update is LONG overdue... but hey -what can i say? lol

i finally got all my proofs back and ordered ALL of our albums and everything!! what i can say to anyone who is thinking of using Hi Lite Studios is: they arent that totally modern, photojournalistic photographer that most brides are all about now... i never wanted that... i am very traditional when it comes to certain things, and i KNEW that i wanted a good photographer to take the basic pictures of the BP, myself and DH and family... and of course candids (which they took A LOT of!!) so in a nutshell, they take very good, but simple pictures (i added a few of my proofs below this update)

in addition, even though a lot of their services are included, we ended up paying close to $1000 extra to upgrade b/c the albums that come with the package were not my taste. you are also only given 2 8x10's and 1 11x14 along with 75 TY's which we needed about 25 more.

the albums are VERY TRADITIONAL. no magazine style that is very popular now..... personally, i LOVE our album, but i know i differ from A LOT of brides b/c that is not a lot of ppls tastes now.

i think thats about all for my update.... i was a little disapointed at the albums that were included in the package, but we didnt mind spending the extra $$ b/c the pictures are VERY important to me!! if you have ANY other questions, please FM me!!!

now here are a few proofs:

Limos
Avanti Limousine, East Meadow, NY – A+++++++

They arrived EARLY to both mine and DH’s parents house and were OVERLY courteous to everyone!! The drivers were absolutely more than nice and even took the bridal party to the pizza place right by Argyle Park while DH and I were taking pics with just us. We also had a limo come back after the reception and take us to the hotel & he was really sweet also!!! Limos were in excellent condition and looked fabulous!!!

DJ
Xtreme Sounds, Commack, NY – A+++++

AMAZING pretty much sums up Xtreme Sounds!!! They were extremely sweet and overly accommodating to last minute changes and asking us about different things as the night went on. Even when my uncle came out dressed as Elvis and wanted to sing “That’s Amore”, the DJs checked with us first and then let him do his thing. They were both a pleasure to deal with and all of our guests are still talking about how great they were!!!
