Our June 4, 2010 Wedding Review!

I really don’t think we had any bad experiences, all of our vendors came through for us!

Invitations: Printing Emporium
More of a printing place, but the service was excellent, invitations were beautiful and the price was perfect! We were looking for very simple but elegant invitations and we found them in the first 3 books we looked at. They came in very quickly as well.

Venue: Venetian Yacht Club, Babylon

I don’t think we could think of one bad thing about our experience with the Venetian Yacht Club (okay my husband didn’t like that they do not do shots at the bar, but we worked around that by getting an ice luge). We worked with Giulio from day one. He was excellent, I might have emailed him 3 times a day for 3 months and he was always as friendly and helpful as ever. He made sure that there was plenty of food that I was able to eat (celiac disease) and the food was out of this world. We didn’t hear one complaint from anyone. We also got to order as many dishes as we wanted for the two of us. No one’s plates were still full after those meals. The cocktail hour was over-flowing with food. We added sushi trays to the cocktail hour as well. Giulio was there with us the entire evening to make sure that everything went smoothly from the ceremony through the cocktail hour and reception. He guided everyone to where they should be walking for the ceremony and everything went perfect. The weather was amazing so we were able to have the ceremony outside on the water. It was our dreams come true. We would highly recommend this venue.

Brides Dress, Bridesmaids Dresses, MOB Dress: Bridal Reflections A+ for style, C for helpfulness/attentiveness

I tried on about 4-5 dresses, and the lady told me that she wanted me to try on one more. At first I refused because it wasn’t me at all. She told me she didn’t show this dress to many people, but I had the height for it. My mother begged me to put it on, and her and my grandmother started crying, so that was the dress! Going for alterations I had to wait for so long after the time of my appointment to be seen.

Mom’s Dress – They ordered it a few sizes too big and then tried to tell her that she lost 100 pounds in the 2 months it took to come in… once they got it correct after 3 times of alterations it was beautiful and she loved it.

Grandma’s dress was from Estelle’s. It only took my mom 2 hours for her to choose a dress but she was so excited and it fit her perfectly… (for 88 years old, that was pretty quick!)

Bridesmaid Dresses –
I picked out the color and the girls chose their dresses. They loved them and can actually wear them again. Same problem with their alterations, but finish product was good.

Veil & Headpiece: Barron's

I brought a picture of my dress to the lady there, and she immediately pulled out the veil that matched perfectly. The one she had was white, so she made it in the ivory of my dress. I couldn’t believe how close of a match it was. The headpieces, I tried on a few and this one stuck out the most. They made the veil attach to the headpiece with Velcro so that it wouldn’t fall off my head. Took a few weeks to come in, but had it in plenty of time.

Tuxedos: Mur-Lee's

We started out at Men’s Wearhouse… talk about a disaster. In the end we wound up walking out, once they told me that they couldn’t get a 7 year old a white tux, that boys started at 17 and he had to be in black. The only thing I wanted was for the ring bearer to be in white! A friend of mine told me about Mur-Lee’s and we weren’t disappointed. We still go back to him now for any tux’s we need along with my husband is going to go purchase 2 more suits from them for the rest of the 6 weddings we have this summer!

Flower Girl, Jr. Bridesmaid Dresses: David's Bridal
I found the dresses I wanted the kids in the first time I saw them online. The only problem we ran into was they discontinued the blue we were using and we had to get a 3rd dress in short notice so the sash around one of the jr. bridesmaid’s dresses didn’t match perfectly to the other girls. It wasn’t noticeable.

The girls all loved their dresses. Our flower girl felt like a princess.

Ice Luge: Ice Sculpture Designs

The only thing my husband wanted at the wedding was an ice luge… I never saw it the whole night, but it was a huge hit! Everyone was doing martini shots and patron shots all night. Definite hit among all of our friends.

Transportation: Tran-Star Exec Limo

We met with Justin the first day and we booked on the spot. We wanted a limo bus so that all of us can go together… since we were seeing each other beforehand it worked out perfectly. We used them for transportation for our honeymoon, along with we still use them to go to other weddings so that we don’t have to drive. They are very reasonable and Justin is very accommodating and easy to work with.

Hair: Monica - Ashley's
I’ve been going to Monica since I was 14. She was the only person I trusted all those years, so I couldn’t imagine going with anyone else for my wedding! I didn’t know what I wanted to have done, and I just gave her my veil and headpiece and she did it perfect.

Makeup: Designs by Sue
I’ve only gotten my make-up done two other times, and my friend that got married last June used Sue as her make-up artist and we weren’t disappointed. I booked her as soon as we booked the place. She did 6 of our make-up that day and did a great job.

Coefficient’s: Rev. David Grainson & Rabbi Frank Tamburello

I found Rev. Grainson on this site through recommendations. Turns out now I know 3 other people that have used him. He did a terrific job. We met with him two times before the wedding and made the ceremony beautiful. We liked that he was married with children, so we felt the advice he gave us about marriage was very genuine.

Rev. Grainson recommended Rabbi Tamburello to us. They have done many weddings together. We met with him and we were sold. He’s a very friendly guy who takes his work seriously.

Florist: Flowers by Brian

We met with a few florists and then came across Brian. We met with him, and he helped me gain an idea of what I wanted. When we went back to finalize things we met with him and Shannon and we wound up looking through a few other albums and changing the bridesmaid bouquets! Our centerpieces were simple and bright colors and everyone loved them. A few people have asked us who our florist was that they want to use them for their weddings.

Photography/Videography: Duval *Photographer: John, Videographer: Glenn*

John did a great job. He was very friendly and knew how to arrange some great photographs. My husband and I are not very into ‘forced photos’ but he had some great ideas. We loved our proofs and they were finished so quickly. Two people at our wedding recognized him as their photographer as well. We are eagerly anticipating designing our album!

Glenn was also very friendly (he was who we met with when we signed them). He was always where the action was but never got in the way. We cannot wait to see what our video looks like!

Music: Tommy's Tunes -Dan/ Gene – singer

Everyone thought that Gene was a cd of Frank Sinatra. We are still hearing how much everyone loved him. He truly sounded like each person’s music that he was singing. He sang during the meals and it was a great break-up between the rest of the music, and everyone got up to slow dance.

Dan was awesome. He is the person we met with when we booked them. He had everyone up there the entire night. He was able to read the crowd so well. He helped us to pick the songs everyone was going to walk into, and picked a great song for us as well. We recommended him to a friend of ours, and he is going to be their dj next month!

Favors: discountmugs.com

We loved the wine glasses, only problem was they each came with a sticker on them, and we had to peel off 255 stickers. They weren’t on the bottom of the glass that we could just leave them, they were barcodes smack dab on the side of the glass. That was tedious work and we had to wash the glasses 3 or 4 times to get the stickers off, but my mom was good at that.

Cake: Rolling Pin Bakery

The owner David was good person to deal with. We never met with him, but we chose the Cake we wanted through their website, picked up 6 samples of different flavors and chose the flavors we liked. About 6 months ago I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and David made it so that the top layer was Gluten Free and I was able to eat it! So many people told us that the cake didn’t taste like the typical “wedding cake” and how much they enjoyed it.

Ketubah: MP Artworks
My husband is not very religious and didn’t really know what a Ketubah was before we went to a wedding last year. We decided that to incorporate traditions from both religions we would do the glass breaking, have a Ketubah, Drink from the Kiddush Cup, Have a Unity Candle and Readings. The Ketubah came very quickly and they send you a proof to show the rabbi before they place the order.

Place Cards: Etsy.com
The woman that I worked with was excellent. She completed the cards very quickly (our RSVP date was pretty close to the wedding) and they came out beautiful.

Sushi Trays:
A huge hit, we should have gotten more.

Hotel: Huntington Hilton
They re-did the hotel to be beautiful. The only negative was the “honeymoon suite” was nothing that you would have expected. All it was, was a bigger room then the others. They let me drop off greeting bags a few days before, and didn’t have a problem with giving assigned bags to each of the guests that checked in. They gave everyone a good price and Deborah was great to work with.

Honeymoon: 12 night Mediterranean Cruise - Royal Carribean
This was the first time either of us have gone on a cruise, or out of the country. We had such an AMAZING time in all of the destinations. We can’t wait to be able to go back!

Hi thanks for the review. You made a beautiful bride. Did you get your dress from BR in Carle Place or Massapequa?
