Some Professional Pictures!!!!! My Review- 10/24/09 Venetian Yacht Club, Duet, Royalty, Absolute Entertainment, The Bridal Touch & More

So it's taken me a while to finally sit down and write this, but ironically we were at a friends wedding last night and she had used so many of our vendors, it reminded me that I really need to tell people how wonderful they all were!

I do want to remind brides out there that if you keep an open mind throughout the whole wedding planning process and realize that not everything will be in your control on that day- especially things like the weather- don't let it ruin your day! Also-- leave things to the experts, meaning- your vendors have been working in the business for years (or try to pick ones that have years of experience), let them give you ideas based on some ideas you have. They get really excited and more into it when you give them more 'wiggle' room with your ideas.

Ok- so i guess to start I'll talk about the weather- I'm not going to rate it because if I gave it an A people might think I'm crazy. So we had a day wedding, with the ceremony starting at 11 am at St. Hugh of Lincoln, cocktail hour starting at 1 pm at VYC. The weather all week said sun everyday but Saturday and for once they were right. I went out the day before and bought rain boots and a big umbrella- figuring if anything i'll embrace the rain factor. Well by 9 am it had stopped, and while we were saying our vows the sun came out and lighted up the church. Rain held off until after we took pictures outside at the VYC. By then I was ready to party and didn't care that it was raining!!

VYC- A+++
When we originally booked back at the end of 07 we had met with Bill. We had met a few times and each time went smoothly. Within a year Bill was no longer there and our wedding was given to Daisy. She was amazing- she did everything and anything we wanted/needed. My husband's family is from Italy so its hard to impress them with food- but every single person raved about the food and service. I mean his parents were getting phone calls for days saying how nice it was and all we hear is how great the service was- which was really important to me. All the staff was amazing!

Duet- A++, photography and videography
I knew before we even got engaged that I would use Duet. A girlfriend of mine used them 5 years ago and knowing that they were on a budget her pictures were still amazing and her wedding album is my favorite. We had Danny as our main photographer and Mark was our second photographer. Both were great! Our engagement photo shoot went so well and we had so many wonderful pictures that I had great confidence in them. As we were taking photos outside my veil flew off and thank goodness Danny was there to catch it! Once we were done taking photos outside they really let us enjoy our day and I barely saw them so I can't wait for the proofs and the video. Proofs are taking about 8 weeks, but they have communicated that very well on their amazing website Duet Photography

Absolute- A+
My best friend used Absolute at her wedding in July 08, by the time we were looking for a DJ and were rating them as we went to weddings, we referred back to what a great time we had at hers. They have this great formula that really keeps people on the dance floor. Scott was our MC and he was great, we spoke a few days before which was good because we had given them some specific Italian music that we wanted played and they knew exactly when to throw it in. Again- if you leave things up to the experts it will surprise you what they come up with. We had added to our package percussion and zap photos and Kevin, the owner was amazing. Knowing that we were having a day wedding at a place that has a back wall of windows, he wouldn't even consider using a regular projection screen for our photo montage. So he threw in two plasma tvs- no additional cost!! Plus he didn't try to sell us a lighting package, because again a day wedding - it would go to waste. So Thank You !!!!

Flowers by Burton- A+
So many girls use them and now I know why- they are so creative and don't skimp on anything. Having a fixed price for centerpieces was key- we had a large wedding 22 tables, and I was really trying to keep the cost down, especially on flowers because not for anything- they don't last like photos, so I couldn't imagine spending a lot. Well, they came up with some great ideas and our flowers were so different yet completed our fall wedding theme. Plus the CP were huge! and the BQs coordinated with my girls dresses and mine was just beautiful- I tell everyone about them. The morning of when the flowers were delivered were were missing a bouquet for the anniversary dance we were doing- they left my house and within no time were back with this wonderful bouquet that didn't match any of the bridal flowers but it coordinated very well.

The Bridal Touch by Elena- A
There is only one reason why I am giving Elena just an A- the lipstick that she used on me got all over my husband as we were taking pictures and it was a bight color-- so i kept having to find a tissue and wipe him
But other than that- she is amazing. You might think that she is putting on a lot of makeup- but it needs to show up in pictures so keep that in mind! She has worked on thousands of brides and also does tv and film work- so she knows best! My hair was amazing and did not move at all during the day. She had to come to the house really early- like 4:30 am! because of the 11 am ceremony but she was a pleasure to have in the house and her assistant did my girls hair and everyone raved about her. Elena worked on me, my mom and my sister and we all looked gorgeous!!!

Bridal Reflections- A, Massapequa
I had browsed online for dress and was gravitating to a lot of Jim Hjlem styles for wedding and BP. So BR was having a trunk show of Jim Hjlem BM dresses. My sister and I had picked a few from the mailing I got previously, and my mother came with me to see the samples. I felt that If I looked good and liked the dress then so would my girls. So I did just that and fell in love with their dress style. I also love the colors that JH offers. I had a maid and matron of honor and three BM- i wanted them to stand out so I had the matron in cashmere, maid in sienna, and the girls in moss. I got compliments from everyone on my choices.
As we were there we walked into the bridal part of BR. I didn't have an appt and it was July- so it was wedding season all evening appts were booked. So i was able to browse what they had out and from a distance I saw this amazing dress- sure enough I had been admiring it online- it was a JH and I knew it before I even saw the tag. It was just outside my price range, but I made my appt based on that dress- well sure enough it was 'the one'. All the girls (except the reception in the BP area) were amazingly friendly and accommodating. The seamstresses were fabulous and I couldn't be happier. The BM, MOB, MOG all got their dresses there and got a discount.

Royalty- A++
We got the Bentley and a 14 passenger lincoln. We were both getting ready at our parents house which were very close to the church in Huntington Station. Plus the ride from the church to VYC was not far at all- but it was a pleasure to have the Bentley and our driver Enrique was awesome. He made sure that my dress didn't get dirty, made sure no one saw me before the start of the ceremony and was really interested in making sure everything went off without a hitch. Phil was the other driver and talk about punctual- these guys had us starting the ceremony 3 min. early, which is so my style a first for our deacon.
