UPDATE W/ VIDEO CLIPS! My purple & red 10/11/08 Jericho Terrace Wedding Review! Thomas Paul, Pedestals, Wild Rose Video, Bellagio Limos, High Energy Entertainment, Melville Marriott, & MANY more!
LINK TO VIDEO CLIPS FROM WILD ROSE'S BLOG: Video Link*Make sure their music is off on the first page of their website*
*Mine is 'Lindsey's Wedding Clips'
I am going to start off like most of the Bride’s on here…so here it goes! I want to thank EVERYBODY on this website! It gave me priceless ideas to make my wedding special, and ideas that I never would have thought of. Our wedding day was perfect, and I keep telling DH I want to do it again lol! But seriously, thank you for everything, without all of you, my wedding would not have been what it was!
Grading scale (A+, A, B, C, D, F)
-Engagement Party: Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park - A+
We decided to have a big mini-wedding engagement party lol. I will add pics when I find them, but all I can say is that it was AMAZING! We had it in February which I think worked out well since there is really not much going on in people's lives in January and February so everyone was looking forward to a night out. We had it in the downstairs room with the big granite bar. The food was great! I definitely recommend them if you are looking for a place on the water, It is beautiful!
-Church: Calvary Lutheran Church in East Meadow - A+
What can I say? This church has been my church since I was in pre-school. My parents and their siblings all got married at this church, and by the same Pastor I did, Pastor Kern! The rehearsal went perfect, and the actual wedding went great. Jane Randall is the church secretary and she always answered my emails and handled everything. If you are Lutheran and looking for a church in Nassau, please consider Calvary!

-Make-up: Jackie from I Make Up You (imakeupyou.com) – A+
Jackie was amazing. She did my make-up as well as my sister (MOH). It came out great, and natural. DH HATES when make-up looks caked on, so I was under strict instructions to look as much as myself as possible. Jackie did it perfect. She also did my eyelash extensions 3 days before the wedding. She uses Novalash. They came out great, it has been 41 days since I got them put on, and half of them are still on! I definitely recommend her for the eyelashes, and for make-up! She also has her own line of cosmetic products.

-Hair: Carmela from Happily Ever After – A+
Carmela did my hair, my MOH’s, and my mother’s hair. We all came out great! We each had pictures of what we wanted done, and she really did it exactly right. She works with Jackie from I Make up You. She was also very fast, which I was stressing about, but she finished in the perfect amount of time! I highly recommend her! Her prices are very reasonable compared to other places.

-Photography: Tom & Brian from Thomas Paul Photography – A+
I can’t say enough good things about them. Tom could only stay until the beginning of my reception because he had another wedding that day. Brian took over after that, and let me tell you, he is GREAT! Such a nice guy and he takes the same style pictures as Tom. Tom was at my house in the morning, and Brian was at DH’s house with the guys. His pictures speak for themselves! Tom even hand delivered my proofs to my office because I wanted them by the weekend! Tom poses everyone so that they don’t look posed. That is my favorite part of his style of photography. Brian is also the same way. PLEASE book Tom for your wedding! You would be crazy not to!

-Videography: Wild Rose Video- A++++++
I can’t say too much about Wild Rose because I haven’t received my video yet, and probably won’t for another 4 months. I did get my raw footage, and from what I have watched, it looks like it’s going to be amazing. I chose the “pink rose” package because I wanted more than one camera because I want that “movie” style look to our video. Two videographers were at my house in the morning, and one was at DH’s house. I thought this was a nice idea because I could see what he was like getting ready in the morning. Usually this is not done. It is definitely something to think about. For the rest of the day, I didn’t even know anyone was video taping me! They were so quiet and sneaky! I loved it! I will update when I get my video back. **UPDATE** My video came out better than expected! I watch it ALL the time lol! I couldnt have asked for more! I am sooo happy with them, I wouldnt have chosen anybody else! Thank you Bill & Marie!
- Day of Coordinator: Francesca from Dazzling Affairs – A+++
I honestly cannot say enough about her. She helped me out a thousand times (literally) the day of the wedding. I look back on it and think how would I have fixed that myself?! She is worth her weight in gold! I highly recommend using her as your DOC. It kept things stress-free, which is exactly why I hired her to begin with. She also called all of my vendors a week before to confirm everything, and emailed each one of them the wedding day timeline so that they were all on the same page. She is EXCELLENT!
- Limos: Bellagio Limousines – A+
We had absolutely no problems with our limos the day of the wedding. They were all on time and the drivers were VERY friendly. The owner of this company is actually friends with my father, but I am sooo happy I went with him! The Escalade was brand new! There were flat TV’s everywhere with a wood floor! It was crazy! The Lincoln limos were also very nice! His prices are extremely reasonable and I highly recommend using them if you are worried about getting burned by the limo company (as many of them do). He was also very patient with me, as I emailed him probably 1,000 times over the course of the year before my wedding. I dealt with Vinny. You can visit them at: www.bellagiolimos.com

-BM Dresses: Bridal Garden – A+
I am not going to write much about them, as they are now closed. They were great, and the dresses were beautiful and reasonably priced. They were by Alfred Angelo.

- MOB Dress: Renate’s Boutique - A
My mom’s dress was gorgeous. I wanted everyone to have strapless dresses (BM’s and mothers) and it fit her perfectly. The dress came in on time and the price was also reasonable. It was by Private Label by G.

- My Gown: Bridal Reflections in Massapequa – B-
First off, they were great the day I went to try it on for the first time. Extremely helpful and they even lowered the price $300 because it was cheaper somewhere else. The reason they get a B- is because of the service I received after I bought the dress. I feel like they didn’t give me the time of day, and had very snotty attitudes every time I went there for a fitting. The seamstress was a sweetheart, but that was about it. My dress was made by Maggie Sottero and it had two names: Prestyn and Chanel. It is now discontinued but if you can find it somewhere, PLEASE do! It complemented my body sooo nicely (and I was 4 months pregnant). The purple flowers were so eye-catching. I am into “different” dresses and I still hear from people about how pretty and different my dress was.

- Tux's: Tuxedo Park in Carle Place - A
We dealt with Bob, and he was great! I wanted a modern look to the guys, so everyone wore black jackets, shirts, and vests with just color in their ties. The prices were a little steep because we got name brand tux’s. But it was WELL worth it! I was referred here by Francesca at Dazzling Affairs because she said the tux’s are only used about 2-3 times and then they are done. She said she has done weddings where she had to sharpie the guys jackets because they were so thin from being dry cleaned a million times. You get what you pay for in life I guess!

- Invitations: Myself & A Bridal Paperie in Plainview- A+
I bought the pocketfolders, and other miscellaneous paper from cardsandpockets.com. I got the front stickers from Zazzle.com (I made them on Word then uploaded it to the website). I also designed the invitation and all of the inserts using Microsoft Word. I then emailed it to Judy at A Bridal Paperie, and she used thermography and printed them on white linen paper, and cut all of the paper. The price was reasonable and they came out AMAZING. I still look at them every now and then. I bought the rhinestones (Swarovski crystals) and rhinestone glue from creative-crystal.com. I don’t want to get into the extreme details, so if you want to know anything, please send me forum mail!

- Envelope addressing & Menus: Diana from Pippy’s Sweets – A+
She was great!!!! The envelope addressing was done quickly and perfectly! The price seemed so cheap that I actually felt bad! I got so many complements about how different it was and how pretty it was. She also made my menus and we emailed back and forth so many times about it. They came out EXACTLY how I imagined them to look. They looked great on the tables, and they were only $1.50 each! I also felt bad about how cheap that was, considering the amount of work that must have been put into each of the menus.

- Petal Cones: Elegant Affairs – A+
These came out perfect. She sent me sample papers, I picked out the colors I wanted, and she went to work. They were heavy cardstock and the petals looked great in them! I asked her to put the crystals on each petal cone, and again, the price was very cheap! So before you think about doing them yourself, get a quote and you will see that it is well worth it.
- Cake: Dortoni Bakery - A-
This is the bakery for Jericho Terrace, and I was VERY happy about it! lol. I gave them a picture of the cake that I wanted, and the reason I gave them an A- is because it wasnt exactly the way it was in the picture. It tasted GREAT though! We got red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The ribbons and bows were fondant icing, so the price was definitely more so we had to pay out of pocket for half of it. But definitely worth it. People still talk about the red velvet haha!

- Groom's Cake: Sweet Karma Desserts in East Meadow - A
I decided to do a groom’s cake and DH’s favorite thing in the world is his ATV/quad. So I had them make an ATV cake. It was made of fondant icing with Chocolate Indulgence filling, which is out of this world! The cake came out so cute! DH loved it! They also delivered the cake to Jericho Terrace themselves so I didn’t have to. This was kind of expensive, but I knew that going in. Sweet Karma is one of the best bakeries in Long Island for special cakes, so check them out! I dealt with Brian the owner.

- Florist: Pedestals in Garden City Park - A
I dealt with Nadia at Pedestals. She was awesome! I emailed her pictures of things I wanted, and told her my visions of the flowers, and she did EXACTLY what I was thinking. The price was very reasonable for the amount of flowers I had (I felt like there were flowers everywhere!!!). The ONLY problem I had was the morning of the wedding, when the BM bouquets came, they were only purple daisies. I had in my contract that they were to be red roses with purple daisies. I told Francesca and she contacted someone at Pedestals and had two guys come to my house and fix the bouquets for me! I am so happy I said something because it would have ruined the effect I was going for. Other than that, my centerpieces were amazing, and I loved the flowers at the church and all of the rose petals!

- DJ: High Energy Entertainment – A+
Ralph was excellent! We had zapshots, and we did a photo montage of us growing up. For the amount of stuff he included, the price was got seems insane! Ralph is also the nicest guy ever! He really went out of his way for us, and it is greatly appreciated. After the reception he handed me 3 DVD’s of the photo montage. About two weeks after the wedding, he mailed me the DVD of all the zapshot photos. He played the music I asked him to play, and he made no mistakes with all of the names for the entrances. If you want to get the most for your money, you MUST use High Energy Entertainment!
- Tiara & Veil: Barron’s in Tri-County – A+
My tiara was one that I picked out there, but I had him add amethyst colored crystals all around the tiara. I also had him make a custom veil for me. It took about 4 months, but they came out beautiful, and again, the price was insanely cheap! The ones at the bridal stores don’t hold a candle to my veil and mine was about 1/8th of the price. Seriously!

- BM Gifts: Steve Madden evening bags & Swarovski necklaces
These were a big hit! I got the evening bags from stevemadden.com and I signed up for their emails, so I got 20% off my purchase! The Swarovski necklaces were ordered from Swarovski.com and looked stunning with the dresses. I am happy I chose them because the girls will have these necklaces forever. I also got my MOH a really nice Coach bag. She picked it out, but was very excited to finally get it at the rehearsal dinner!
- Groomsmen Gifts: Prada sunglasses
These were a BIG hit! It is so hard shopping for guys, so we decided to get them Prada sunglasses and tell them to wear them the day of the wedding. All the guys loved them and were so excited to get sunglasses like them. My mom works for an optometrist so we did get them at a discount (plus the fact that we ordered 6 of them helped). The pictures of the guys wearing them came out sick! I loved it! Even if you don’t get Prada, you could get another brand like Ray-Ban or something! We also got the BM a gift card to Jetblue.
- Parent Gifts:
I got my mom the Precious Moments figurine of the mother and the daughter (the mother of the bride figurine). She loved it! We also got my parents gift cards to their favorite two restaurants. We did the same for DH’s parents.
- Reception Hall: Jericho Terrace – A+++++
I honestly have not one bad thing to say about Jericho Terrace. Rob was my banquet manager and he was great. I could always get in touch with him when I needed something, and he is a sweetheart. The food was out of this world. We had the cocktail hour in the Garden Terrace room (the bigger room). We chose that room because it has the bigger bar lol. When we walked into the cocktail hour room, I was at a loss for words. It is absolutely gorgeous, and the food was great. We had our reception in the Penthouse room. I was told it looks like the Venetian in Las Vegas (which apparently is a very good thing!). We got to take a peek at the room before all the guests came in and again, I was at a loss for words. It looked soooo good! Mike was our Maitre ‘D. I had typed a list of how I wanted everything set up, and he did it exactly the way I asked. He made sure during the whole reception that DH & I had a full glass of whatever we were drinking. He also did this for my parents and DH’s parents. The bridal suite was so big and full of good food and drinks! The bridal attendants were excellent as well. The food during the whole reception was great, and my guests loved the wine that was on the tables (Tisdale). I could go on and on about Jericho Terrace, but I won’t. Their reputation speaks for itself. You get so much for your money here and I hope someone takes a look there after reading my review and seeing my pictures.

Here are some random pics of some of the details:

- Melville Marriott: We went there after the reception since our reception ended at 6...we had a HUGE hotel party there!!! One room had like 40-50 people in it, and we never got in trouble. I would say we wound up blocking off 12 rooms and they were all booked. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL and the staff was so accomodating. I loved everything about it. We got the 'suite' for the night. The beds were so comfortable everyone was saying they wanted to take them home lol. We had breakfast in the morning in one of the conference rooms. It was very pricey but well worth it...it was nice to see everyone the morning after. I 100% recommend this hotel!!! I dealt with Ilene in sales.
*Well, that’s it for now! If I think of anything I missed, I will add it in! I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helps at least one person to find something they are looking for! If you see something in my pictures that I didn’t write about, don’t hesitate to FM me, and I will gladly respond. I love being a married woman, and good luck and happy planning!*
