UPDATED Our December 6, 2008 wedding at Glen Island Harbour Club Review, *M*I*A*, Arcadia Floral, Bridal Reflections, (Tessa)**** , Top Class Limo, etc.

My wedding, which still feels like a dream to both myself and my new husband was really the best day of our lives. It could not have been accomplished without the help of this board and all the wonderful ladies who posted reviews, answered questions, and in general gave us great idea's to use at our wedding. Thank you so much for everything!!!!

Glen Island Harbour Club ( ceremony and reception) - A+
I would 100% recommend this RH to have your wedding at. We had spent a lot time checking out various venues in both LI and Westchester. I was looking for a place on the water yet with a certain feel of sophistication. I knew from the moment that we walked in and spoke with Jack, our manager, that this would be the right place for us. The staff took such wonderful care of both us and our guests. From our Maitre D' ( who tricked us into eating dinner) to the bridal attendant, nothing was left to chance and they really gave it their all to make sure our day flowed smoothly and without issue.



The ceremony room that we got married in was a circular room facing the water. It was the prefect room for the amount of guests we had plus it gave everyone in the room a chance to see us.








The food there was some of the best I had ever tasted. We had about 7 different stations for the cocktail hour alone ( including a fresh sushi station and iced vodka bar). Just when everyone was full and couldn't take it anymore, they were let into the reception room for even more filling treats. They have a new lighting system which really set the mood in the main room . You really could not have asked for a better space.



To top it all off, they gave my over-stuffed guests hot chocolate and warm pretzels on the way out the door. I think everyone went on a diet after this affair.



Officiant - Rabbi Goor A
We had an inter-faith marriage ceremony as I am Jewish but my FH is not. Rabbi Goor was suggested to me by my dog walker. After a few meeting with him, we decided upon a short yet to the point ceremony. The rabbi had a great sense of humor and integrated some humor into the ceremony which really made it flow. Everyone seemed to really enjoy ceremony and it just went by so fast. He is definitely a great rabbi to use.








Bill Frederick's Photography ( and videography) A
We used Barbara Corella from this photo studio. Barbara was actually the photographer at my MOH wedding so I had seen her work before and even taken photo's with her. She was incredibly professional on the day of and seemed to be everywhere we were. I have not seen our wedding photo's yet but if they are anything like our engagement shots ( see my album) then I don't think we will have anything to worry about. She was so easy to work and really made the picture taking fun.

**M**I**A from ************ ( hair and make-up) A+
**M**I**A*** was a wonderful find due to this board. From my hair trials up through the day of my wedding, she was incredible to work with. I had 2 trials with her as I was not quite certain about how I wanted my hair to look. The day of my wedding, she arrived early and just went straight to work. I have never felt or looked as good as when she did both my hair and make-up. She also did my mom and a few of my bridesmaids. Everyone felt like a celebrity by the time she was done with us. I could not have been happier with her work.








Arcadia Floral ( flowers) B-
Our RH only let us use two florists. After having problems with their other recommendation, we decided to go with Arcadia. My reason for giving Arcadia a lower grade is that I did not feel like they really listened to us at first. The first CP they showed me was really nothing like I described to them. It was only when I explained to them again exactly what I envisioned, were they able to create the CP's we eventually had at our wedding. The flowers that they created for the day of were also not quite what we saw at our first viewing. They were missing some flowers I wanted and tended to lean towards a different color then my wedding colors but in the end the guests really loved them so I couldn't complain plus they made me a gorgeous Bouquet.



Bud Maltin Band ( music) A
My FH really insisted that we have a live band and I was so glad he did. We got a 9 piece band for the wedding and they provided us with a flutist for the ceremony, and a bass player for the cocktail hour. This band was incredibly professional from the start of the process all the way through the end. They played the type of music we requested and had people on the dance floor the whole night.



Bridal Reflections Manhattan : Lazaro ( wedding dress) A
After going to some other highly recommended stores and having an absolutely awful time, I found this place to be a breath of fresh air. I found my dress there on my first visit, and about 13 dresses later. The women there were incredibly knowledgable and really listened to the type of dress I wanted. They only brought me dresses that fit within my specifications and what they thought would look good on my body type. They were incredibly patient and sincere throughout the whole process and almost let me leave without buying anything. My dress arrived on time with no issues. My appointments for fittings were set up by them and followed up upon. Their seamstress was great to work with and she really had my dress looking perfect at the end. I am so glad I found them as they really helped make my wedding a magical night.





Bridal Styles ( Tiara and veil) A
I became incredibly picky when it came time to choose a tiara. I absolutely hated everything I saw all the stores until my mother brought me to Bridal Styles in Brooklyn. I explained to the sales associate that i was looking for an unusual piece and after about 2 tries she brought me the wonderful piece I ended up using. They also custom made my veil which ended up being 3 pieces ( blusher, elbow length and cathedral length veil)



Here Comes the Bridesmaid ( bridesmaid dresses) Jim Hjelm B-

I had originally found the perfect bridesmaid dress in LI but being that I lived in Manhattan and so did some of my bridesmaids I was purely looking for a store that carried this dress. I walked into this store already knowing which dress to purchase which made it an easy transaction. The dresses arrived on time. The store does not have a seamstress on premise so my bridesmaids had to unfortunately find their own. They were easy enough to deal which I honestly did not feel like they paid enough attention to their customers.









Weather A++
Mother Nature was really on my side. My theme was winter wonderland and it really came true on my wedding day. It was bright and sunny all day yet late at night, about half-way through my reception, it started to snow. The snow made us feel like we were inside a snow globe. It was so romantic and magical. Some guests actually thought it was a special effect, at first, orchestrated by Glen Island. We got to take pictures in the snow.



Tessa from *************** ( invites/escort cards/programs/table numbers) A+
I spent a lot of time looking at invites and just didn't quite like anything I saw. I decided to give Tessa a chance after reading many glowing reviews on this board. I am so glad I did. She designed an invite for us that completely matched the feel of the wedding. I was getting so many compliments on them and even had a few friends ask for her contact info so they can use her for their wedding. She also designed an impressive fan style program for us. She is definitely the person to use for all your invite/program needs.








Radisson New Rochelle ( hotel) A
We stayed in the bridal suite at this hotel. The hotel actually has a club that is open till 3 so we all went and partied here after the wedding. The rooms were clean and descent. They were very helpful with putting up flyers for us and helping us get notices to our guests. easy to work with.


Top Class Limo ( limo's) A
I knew from the moment I walked into the showroom that I wanted a Rolls Royce Phantom for myself and a white limo for the rest of the bridal party. The day of, they arrived on time with both cars and were a great vendor to work with.


Red Oak Transportation ( shuttle buses) B+
Read Oak was a pleasure to deal with at first. We changed our times for shuttle buses many times before the wedding as we needed them to go to 2 different hotels and we were weren't quite sure how many people would be staying at each as everyone booked the hotels after my holding period had expired. The shuttles themselves were great and everyone arrived on time. My only problem with this vendor is that that the bus driver somehow thought he should go to the Radisson in Manhattan instead of New Rochelle. He did manage to find my FH in the end and the problem was quickly resolved.

The Best Part was that my Hubby decided to surprise all our guests by playing the drums with the band for 2 songs.



I hope this information will help some of you future brides out there. Good Luck with the process and the wedding. I know it can be very stressful but it's ALL WORTH IT in the end.
