Finally the Review of my 10/28/06 wedding at WCC, Glenmar, Royalty Limo, BUrtons, Capobiancos

I am finally writing my review. First I want to say my wedding day was an amazing day and I want to thank everyone who helped make it a wonderful day. I will always look back on my wedding day and smile. Everyone had a great time and is still talking about what a wonderful time they had. If things didn’t go right only I and Mike realized it. For the most part all of my vendors were amazing. I hope to help some future brides out.

Weather (8)
The morning I woke up it was pouring rain and very windy. A little disappointing to say the least, but what could you do. Mother nature came through though as we were getting ready it stopped raining and I thought this is perfect, but God through an extra blessing shower on us as we got into the limo. As we were in church the sun came out so in the end it all worked out.

Davenport Press (10)
We had our rehearsal dinner and my bridal shower there. They did a phenomenal job, the service was great. We had a private room and the food was terrific.

Invitations and Beyond – (10)
I ordered my invitations there. They were very helpful with picking out the wording and design. When I didn’t like the spacing in my name they corrected it right away and sent me a new proof. The invitations came in pretty fast. The staff was helpful in showing me how to assemble the invites.

Our Lady of Hope Church (10)
This was my church all of my life and my dream to walk down the aisle there. The ceremony and mass I couldn’t have asked for anything better. We had a family friend and Mike’s cousin officiate over the wedding and they did such a beautiful job. This part of the day was the most important to me since it was when we were becoming husband and wife before God. The church organist and musician did an amazing job. When I think back at her singing Our Lady of Knock at the end of mass it brings a big smile to my face. It was wonderful everyone was coming up to us and saying how great the ceremony was – it made our special touches worth while.

Royalty Limos – (10)
We had a white stretch Cadillac escalade – I never thought I would be using an SUV on my wedding day. It was great the entire bridal party was with us. Royalty showed up on time. Our driver as soon as he got to the house he told us about the impending shower and said if we are not out of the house in 10 minutes we will get wet sure enough a big downpour came. He was great he backed the limo into the driveway under our awning and escorted each girl with a big umbrella to the door. The driver made sure none of us got wet. Our car at the end of the night was on time but he was not the friendliest. All in all the service was great.




Alert Buses (10++++++++++)
We hired a coach bus for our oot guests. We had probably 40 people in from Ireland and a few others from around the states and we didn’t want to worry about anyone drinking and driving. Sue was great she was helpful and answered all of my questions. We had the bus for 12 hours and very reasonable. The bus picked up people at the hotel and brought them to the church and from the church back to the hotel for refreshments and freshening up. We had lots of time between the church and the reception. The bus then two runs to WCC. Everyone one said the bus driver was very nice. Then the bus did two runs back to the hotel at the end of the night. No one was left behind and it went smoothly. We were so happy we spent the money on this it was worth every penny.

Capibianco’s Florist (10)
We decided to use a local florist because we didn’t want to throw to much money into the flowers. She did a marvelous job. She was so sweet from the beginning. Before we booked the florist she made me a sample centerpiece and let me take it home – no charge. She listened to what I was looking for in the centerpieces and the bouquets and did a phenomenal job. We didn’t have flowers for the church since our church has pretty artificial flowers on the altar always. Since it was Halloween weekend we wanted some of the centerpieces in pumpkins – she carved out 12 pumpkins and made beautiful arrangements. She put special touches throughout the reception. The place card table had pumpkins and leaves and she left flowers for the cake. The only thing that didn’t go according to my plan was I wanted the pearls on the stephonopolis (sp) and she had pulled them off. I was so happy we went with a local florist the flowers were perfect.


Burton’s Bridal (7)
I loved my dress by Alfred Angelo. My bridesmaids wore Bill Levkoff style 351 – euro wine. I ordered my dress and the bridesmaid dresses from Burton’s. The saying is true you get what you pay for. Carol and her staff were all about you when picking out your dress, but once the dress is ordered they really don’t care at all. My moh was expecting when we were dress shopping, but wouldn’t be at the time of the wedding and they said it would be no problem to guess what size and they will figure it out. When my girls went to order the bridesmaid dresses it was a different story. My moh honor was confused about what size to get and the staff was like we don’t know and walked away. Then we were confused about the size chart of the dress as well because one of my bm’s that isn’t big was coming out 4 sizes bigger than she normally wears. Then we were asking how close the size chart is to the actual and is the dress going to be too big and looking for advice Carol was no help. So she ordered a size smaller than the chart said and that worked out ok.

When I ordered my dress I had purchased my undergarments and Carol said they would be fine. At the first fitting the undergarments didn’t seem to be the greatest after all, but I was reassured it would be fine. Well when I went for my second fitting the dress was still not altered right and you could see my bra in the back and the front of the dress was not sitting flat. They proceeded to tell me they would do there best. Then they didn’t want me to try on the dress after the final alterations. Don’t let them talk you into that because mine still wasn’t right so they had to fix it again but I didn’t leave until it was done. Well the morning of the wedding I still had to put safety pins the make the dress flat. I would not recommend them for alterations. My bridesmaid’s who had there dresses altered there didn’t sit as well as the girls who had them altered elsewhere.
There hours are unaccommodating and once they have your money they are very unhelpful.



Bridal Boutique, Carle Place – (10)
My shoes were so comfortable and the staff was helpful.

Foresto Tuxedos, Mineola – (9.5)
DH got all of the tuxes there. The staff was very friendly and the guys looked great. They didn’t get a 10 because my brother’s shirt was a little tight in the neck.

Barron’s Tri- County – (10)
I picked up my veil there. The lady was very helpful and very nice. I didn’t end up wearing the veil from there since it got ripped at my fitting at Burton’s but I would have loved to wear it.

Glenmar Studios – (8)
I have mixed views on Glenmar. My pictures and video came out wonderful, but there were many pictures not taken and very few candids at the reception. The pictures he took outside were very dark even though it was still light outside - you can tell from the video. In the end I am pleased with the album and I guess that is all that matters.

Summer Wind – (8)
The music they played was great and everyone was up dancing, but they didn’t do many things we asked of them. We had requested our first dance be with the cd and they sang it. I left specific instructions on to invite the bridal party in and then everyone else but they didn’t do this. In addition they never played our last song and the music ended suddenly which was very disappointing since that was one of the few songs we picked out. In part I think some of there shortcomings were our fault for not meeting face to face before the wedding. That would be my advice make sure you meet with them beforehand and go over all the details.

Woodbury Country Club – (8)
I wish I could say our wedding there was perfect but it wasn’t. The good thing is anything that didn’t go right nobody would notice but me and dh. The food was terrific and my bridal attendant was out of this world – she could not have been more helpful and checked in with us all night long. Bob was our banquet manager and wasn’t that helpful when it came to the day of the wedding. He was stressed because he had two parties going on at the same time. Our Matre D was John and left a lot to be desired. Our meal was running late because the kitchen was backed up with the other wedding and he never informed us or any member of the band to keep the music going. Then at the end of the night as soon as the clock hit 12:30 the lights were turned on and the band had to end it. We still weren’t aware of what happened until my brother asked the band why they didn’t finish with our request. We had given John his envelope and he disappeared. He barely wanted to help us to the car with our items. After our honeymoon we had called Bob to discuss these things and he was not as helpful. One other thing to be careful of with the WCC if you are in the downstairs room be sure to ask about the second tent outside. This tent blocked the beautiful view of the gardens from the room.

Everything was beautiful and people still are raving about how beautiful everything was set up. The cake was phenomenal.

We were happy in the end with the WCC but just make sure you have people watching out for everything for you on the day of your wedding.

Holiday Inn, Plainview – (8)
Our out of town guests and we stayed there on our wedding night. The rooms were terrific our room was huge it was a pity we didn’t get more time in it. The front desk messed up handing out our gift bags and not everyone got one because some people got too many. Also when we blocked the rooms there our main concern was that we could have an after party at the bar and they said as long as there are people there they would remain open. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and at around 2:30 they closed the bar and the staff wasn’t the nicest about it.

Hair by Astrid – (10)
She did such a great job on my hair. She did all my girls in up do’s and they stayed up all night. They looked beautiful. She was so nice and very reasonable.

Make-up by Marlene – (9)
She did a great job on all of the girls and both moms. She was a little on the expensive side but all in all I was very happy.

DIY’s
I made menus, programs, thank you cards. I also made little thank you notes for the out of town guests and goody bags. I was very pleased with how everything turned out. I think the extra touches were definitely worth it.

Honeymoon – Australia – (10+++++++++++++++++++++)
We spent two weeks touring around Australia – it was the best two weeks of my life. We booked our self guided vacation with Quantas Vacations. All of the hotels were great and the trips were phenomenal. Quantas airlines is the best airline in the world.
We went to Melbourne, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Outback, Cairns, and Sydney.
We hope to go back someday!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting your review, however belatedly. Your wedding sounds wonderful. I admire your attitude. Whatever small things went wrong during the process, in the end it didn't change the happiness of the occasion.

Australia was great you will have a wonderful time. We stayed at the Grace Hotel in Sydney and the the Oasis resort in Cairns. In Cairns we rec'd a welcome package and free bottle of champagne from the hotel.

Everything looked so beautiful and I love the pumpkin centerpieces. The carved pumpkin was a nice touch!
