My 9/10/05 Wedding at the Timber Point Country Clu
Hello everyone! I got married yesterday at the Timber Point Country Club. I am off to my honeymoon tomorrow morning, but I wanted to write my review before I left. Please feel free to send me forum mail if you have any questions; I will respond upon my return in 2 weeks.Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park-A+
The photographer did the family portraits at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park from 4 to 5pm. The Park is gorgeous. The natural sunlight is great for pics. I highly recommend taking your photos before the wedding rather than during the cocktail hour because then you can spend the cocktail hour mingling with guests.
Daniel Krieger Photography- Dan is a vendor on this website. I haven't seen the photos yet, but Dan has an amazing personality. He is playful yet professional at the same time. He was great at putting my family at ease for the photos. He let me look at some of the shots he took (he showed me the digital pic window), and they looked beautiful.
TGIF Sights and Sounds DJ- A+
My emcee and DJ were awesome. My emcee sang a few songs; he had a great voice. The crowd loved it-- he sang Frank Sinatra, etc. I gave a song list to the DJ - one with songs he can't play and one he should. He followed both lists to a T. I highly recommend TGIF.
TGIF Sights and Sounds DJ and Videography-
Tony was my videographer; he had a wonderful personality and was very inconspicuous at the wedding. He used a hand-held camera and shot from the periphery of the dance floor.
Tomas Rodriguez- A+
Tomas Rodriguez played Spanish guitar during my ceremony and cocktail hour. I found him through one of the brides on this site. His music was elegant and beautiful. Please FM me for his contact info. He plays all over Manhattan and Brooklyn and has a couple of CDs as well.
The Timber Point Country Club- A+++++
The club was beautiful when I visited it, but it came alive on my wedding night. The grounds are meticulous, and the outdoor ceremony site is amazingly beautiful. The weather was perfect, and the sun set during the cocktail hour. White lights lit up all around the ceremony/cocktail hour area while the sun was setting. I love the TPCC and couldn't imagine marrying anywhere else. My friends and family were amazed at the site's elegance and natural beauty. April was my maitre de; she's awesome. Ben was my contact there prior to the wedding. He was very helpful. We had a sit-down dinner-- everyone loved the food.
Erin Lenise Couture- A+
Erin custom-made my bridal gown. She followed my exact wishes to a T. She lives in NYC and went to FIT and worked for a couture clothing designer. She now has her own bridal gown business. She is young and hard-working and a perfectionist. Please FM me for her contact info.
Payprus- A+
I bought my wedding invitations at Papyrus on 6th Avenue in midtown Manhattan. They were sophisticated and elegant.
Rebecca from Favorite Things- A+
Rebecca did my computer calligraphy for my wedding invitations, she did my computer calligraphy place cards and my menus for the reception. She is dedicated, interested and artistic. Plus, she is very efficient. She does great work for a great price. FM me for her contact info.
Jack & Rose Florist- A+
I read bad reviews about J&R after I booked them and contacted them about it. They showed me a sample centerpiece and I thought, 'Who can mess up rose centerpieces?' and kept them as my vendor. I'm glad I did. The centerpieces were gorgeous- I had 5 tables with red roses, 5 with yellow and 5 with tipped (yellow with a red tip) roses. I also had a single rose placed on every place setting. I loved the diversity of colors, and the guests loved the roses. Not a single centerpiece or loose rose was left on the tables.
Rev. Dr. Randall B. Bosch, Minister- A
The Rev. officiated a non-religious ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony. He came highly recommended by the TPCC.
Paullette- A
Paullette did my hair and make-up. I found her at the Shiseido counter at Saks 5th Ave in midtown. She does hair and makeup. She is a perfectionist and very client-oriented. She's worked in the movies and runway shows. She gave me a natural look for my make-up and a great updo with flowers in it. Guests loved the flower in my hair. FM for her contact info.
Capezio's- A+
I bought my shoes from Capezio's, dance shoe company. They're made with suede, so the bottom of the shoe moves with your foot. I wore my shoes for 12 hours straight and they looked great and felt great.
Eilicia Bovard- A+++++++++++++++++++
We had an awesome time at our wedding and a lot of that had to do with the fact that we took dance lessons for 3 months prior to our wedding. Everyone was stunned by our dance skills- we did the foxy for our 1st dance and then swing, salsa, waltz and the hustle for subsequent dances. It was awesome. I love Eilecia; she is beautiful and has a great personality. She is professional and supportive. I think dancing dance lessons with my husband is one of the best decisions we ever made PERIOD, the wedding aside.

General advice:
1. Practice walking and dancing in your gown the day before the wedding
2. Take your photos before the wedding, not during.
3. TAKE DANCE LESSONS- you'll use them at your wedding as well as all the weddings you'll attend as guests. It's an actual lifelong investment and so much fun as well.
Please FM me with questions. I won't be able to respond for 2 weeks, but I promise I will upon my return.
Thanks, everyone, for all the advice you've posted for me these last few months.
