My June 10th wedding....
Well, it's finally over and I have to say that I feel as if the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders. I never realized how stressful planning a wedding could be. I'm thrilled that it's over and I'm SO happy to be married. I will post pics when I get them, but for now I will post some words for those that like to read...Venue: Trattoria Dopo Teatro, 125 West 44th St, Manhattan http://www.dopoteatro.com/home.html
A+++++++
I chose this location because I knew that I wanted to get married in the city and because it caters to small intimate weddings. I was able to have both my ceremony and reception there and I liked the idea of that. The staff is amazingly polite and charming. Marco the manager was flexible and so lovely to interact with. The menu was so yummy and inexpensive. I only paid about $35 pp plus $25 open bar. The 2 rooms they provide are beautiful. The ceremony room has a waterfall and I was able to walk down a georgous staircase.
Officiate-Dr. Ed Goldberg
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I was looking for an offiate who would marry an interfaith couple (I'm Jewish, My Husband is Catholic) I went through many websites and telephone conversations, until I found Dr. Goldberg. We met with him and for me and my husband it was a perfect match. Dr. Goldberg wrote our ceremony based on the conversation we had. It was more than perfect. And to make matters even better he was so affordable, only $175!!! Every one of my guests mentioned to me how touching the ceremony was and how it really refelcted my husband's and my personality. They also mentioned mingling with Dr. Goldberg and how much they adored him!
Dress, Tiara, Veil and Shoes and alterations-David's Bridal Yonkers
A+ for the Dress, veil and shoes, B-Alterations
I had a great time picking out my dress. The sales people catered to me, they even went out and bought me coffee while I was there! I loved my dress and people thought it was customed made because it was so unique and pretty. The alterations kind of bummed me out because they didn't hem the dress properly.
Makeup- Frederick at the MAC counter at Macy's 34th Street
A+++++++++++
So the drama was that my makeup artist didnt show up. I got my mom's hotel room in the city from getting my hair done in the Bronx 2 hours before the ceremony wad to begin and she wasnt there! I had to run to Macy's and go to the MAC counter in tears. But Frederick wa there and took care of me like an angel. He was GREAT and saved the day!!!!
Hair- Rose at Luigi's of Italy, Bronx NY
A++++++
This is my regular stylist so I knew my hair would look great and it did. Rose is wonderful. She had a way of calming my nerves during the long process, I was really stressed out.
Flowers- Online wholesale flowers.com
B+
The flowers were beautiful and farm fresh, I was a little disappointed that they didnt open in time. The flowers come closed and the customer service people said that it would take 48 hrs for them to open, but it didnt happen. The only good thing about that is my guests took home fresh flowers.
Bouquet-Denisse on Allerton Avenue, Bronx NY
A+++++++
This florist is right down the street from where I live. I ordered the bouqet on Friday and it was ready on Sat on time. I also got my MOH her bouquert the day of and my husband's boutinere (sp?) My bouquet looked just like the picture I chose and it was super affordable!
OOT Guests-Hotel- Hotel Pennsylvania
D-
I had to book my Mom and Grandmother in a hotel and because I was on a very tight budget and I wanted them close to the venue, I booked them at this hotel. Checking in was horrible, the line was too long because there wasnt enough staff. Also, they booked us at the wrong rate and in a room that was dirty. The second room was the size of a closet. I finally spoke with management and they fixed the rate and the room. The location was perfect bu the staff was horrible.
Transportation- NY Subway and MOH boyfriend!
A+
I had to cut back on expenses so I chose to not book a limo. My MOH boyfriend volunteered himself to pick me up at the hotel in his Lexus. I did have to take the Subway after getting my hair done, but it was fun because I had my Bride T-shoirt on and everyone was congratulating me!
Tux- Formal Wear- bronx NY
B
We chose this vendor because it's a block away from my house. We originally went to another formal wear place but it was too hectic and the staff were rude. My husband bought his tux and shoes and he looked AMAZINGLY handsome!!
I'm probably forgetting a bunch of things, but I'm sure people would rather see pictures instead of reading this LONG post!!!
