Our Wondeful October 30, 2004Wedding @ La Grange Inn review......***some Proofs added 3/1/05***!

I guess I should start this review by saying that I never really dreamed about being a bride when I was little. I had no “fantasy day” in mind, so if I had not found LIW and all you wonderful girls, I never would have had such an amazing day. Thanks for helping this truly “clueless” bride plan a FABULOUS wedding!!!

I think I drove this poor man nuts!!! At first, I was stuck on having blue hydrangea in my bouquet and centerpieces. Did I realize I was getting married OCTOBER 30???????? Ron really worked with me and tried to steer me in the right direction. I knew I wanted something very simple and plain and of course there had to be some blue. When he arrived on my house the morning of the wedding, I couldn’t have been more pleased! All the bouquets were Van Della roses (a beigey –white) accented with blue delphinium. The centerpieces were the same combination …just what I wanted! He was such a pleasure to deal with! He tried so hard to please us!

We rented 11 tuxes and about 5 of them had a problem. My FIL’s tux was ordered too small, my cousin got the wrong tie, my BIL’s pants were too big, another cousin’s tux was all wrong (he had to go to another tux shop to get a tuxedo that resembled the one the rest of the GM’s were wearing. They did refund his money, but I think they only did that because they offer a free tux with a certain amount of rentals). The biggest mistake they made was ordering my DH’s tux too small and letting him walk out of the store with it! I guess I thought they would pay as much attention to the GROOM as they do to the BRIDE, which is why I did not go with him to try on the tux. I felt so bad for Michael, he couldn’t take his jacket off the whole night b/c his vest was too small. It’s pretty obvious in some of the pictures that the jacket was tight on him. It still makes me so mad!

I can not say enough about Kathy and her team! My whole experience was wonderful!!!!! Kathy was so patient with me. I was not an easy bride! I walked in with a picture of my dress. Kathy ordered it for me in my size and the color I wanted to try on. If I liked the dress, it was mine. If I didn’t like it, she would send it back. I stressed so much about going dress shopping; Kathy made it such a wonderful experience! (Plus I never had to worry about my dress arriving in time, I knew it was there waiting for me!) I also had my alteration done at Lillettes and had a wonderful experience. Bilge was my seamstress and she was great.

Overall, I didn’t find the staff to be helpful and the seamstress was a bit rude.

During the wedding planning, I dealt with Kelly and she was really helpful. She guided me through every decision. She was so patient.
The day of the wedding, there was a lost and late limo (I e-mailed them directions the week of the wedding).There was several phone calls the morning of the wedding (to both me and my in-laws) going over pick-up and drop off details. I know I confirmed all details the day before the wedding with Kelly. I was very annoyed! The limo-bus driver misread a one way sign and wasted time turning around in the church parking lot and on a narrow residential street causing him to be late picking up the girls and causing the ceremony to start late. (The sign said “ONE WAY ON SUNDAYS”…it was a SATURDAY) We spent more money on the limos then we did on the flowers…and my DH and I didn’t even get a complimentary ride home from the reception or a ride to the airport. A month after the wedding I noticed a charge on our credit card for $300 in overtime for the limo-bus…it rained, we never even went to a park to take pictures. I am still working out the details of this charge and plan on disputing it.

THEY WERE AMAZING!!!!!!! The dance floor was filled the entire night! It’s almost been 4 months since the wedding and people are still commenting on how great our DJ was. I gave Keith a very detailed list of songs I wanted played and he did his best to please me! My only complaint is the traditional things (parents dance and bo-k toss) happened very late in the evening, I guess the party never lost momentum, so Keith never wanted to stop the music. I highly recommend them!

It was really great to deal with a “mom and pop” photographer. They were very flexible and so easy to work with. We were provided with a photographer and 2 assistants. Susan the photographer was an absolute pleasure. (As were her assistants) I am not the best at being the center of attention, but she made me feel at ease. I did give them a list of “must haves” and after seeing all my proofs, I do feel some things are missing. They really tried hard to capture what I was looking for, but the weather and cramped location for taking pictures really got in their way. All my friends and family say the proofs are gorgeous, I just may be overly critical. Overall, I highly recommend Elmo!
(I mentioned I wanted to re-do pictures of me and my DH in a post on Newlyweds, but that really has nothing to do with the photographer…I made some poor decisions and am not happy with how some the pictures turned out)

Fran and Lou are GREAT!!! This husband and wife team was so easy to work with! I was hesitant to even get a video, but they put all my doubts to rest. I never once felt like they intruded on our day. I can’t wait to see the finished product. How great it will be to re-live our wonderful day!

Michael and I really shopped around for a hall. I must have dragged that boy the 15 different places before we found La Grange. I knew this place was it when we walked in. I loved the fireplace and the home-y feel.
I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HELEN AND HER STAFF!!!!!! She made every second of planning our reception so easy! She listened to everything we had to say and made it all work. She treated us like family! Everything was perfect! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Words can not express how wonderful our day was! Thank you Helen and La Grange!!!!!
