•Rosella & Dan's Rockstar Wedding• 07•13•07 • Woodlands • St. Raymonds • Gray Studios • Peter Greco Band • Royalty Limos • Dalsimer • Tom Varghese • And MORE! ••UPDATE PG 3• Album layout!••

A 9 year long story made [as] short [as possible]- I met Dan at the C-Note in Island Park when he was a drummer for his band in December of 1998. We previously were introduced by mutual friends via AOL a few months prior to meeting in person. I was a 17 year old senior in high school, he was a 19 year old rock star in training . We got along great and couldn't stop talking, chatting and hanging out. He asked me to be his girlfriend on January 8th, 1999 & we have been ONE ever since. We complimented each other from the start, as did all of our friends. Our 2 separate groups became 1 big happy family [most the time]. We couldn't have asked for a happier experience. We had a great time, and a horrible time. All through it we stuck together 110% and finally after 7 years on April 14, 2006 Dan proposed marriage. It was the perfect time, we both had discovered ourselves [I think...] and were pretty much established as individuals & a couple. A short while later in October 2006 we closed on our first home. I stayed home at my parents while Dan tore the house up to give us a new life after we married. Our wedding date was July 13, 2007 and you'll hear all the details below

Let me REALLY start now by saying THANK YOU to all the past brides for taking the time to write reviews to help girls who are in the planning process. I know that they were SO HELPFUL and it really made my wretched planning a little easier. I truly hope this review will be a useful tool to even 1 other bride out there. I just want to contribute & give back a small piece of what I've taken from here. That being said, I begin my review with:

LIWeddings.com- A+
About 90% of all my research started HERE! All the girls I've met are truly great women with great intentions. It was wonderful being able to go to a forum with a million girls who are in the same boat as I was. A huge relief really. Plus- It cured A LOT, let me repeat A LOT, of work boredom

ENGAGEMENT RING- Jorge- A+
DH bought my ring from a jeweler who recently sold her business so I'd rather not rate the actual store being that it's totally new ownership now. But I will say this much- she had a wonderful man named Jorge working for her who I stayed in touch with & had my wedding band made by. He also made DH's band. He is an outstanding craftsman and made the perfect band to match my e-ring with his own bare hands. I had a few bad experiences prior to working with Jorge so I was VERY critical on him, and he met my every single need 110%.

ENGAGEMENT PARTY- A+
We held our engagement party of about 90 people at my brother's home in Malverne. We used several different vendors so I'll try to list them all to my best ability:

Michaels Arts & Crafts for invitations- A+
Bought a couple of those invitation kits, only cost us about $100, and came out beautifully

Just Announce It on Long Beach Rd. in Oceanside- A+
Ordered our Save The Dates here. We handed them out to our guests at the party. Tara was the owner at the time & couldn't have been easier to work with. It also helps that I grew up with the girl

Antonio's Italian Deli on Hempstead Ave in Malverne- A+
This food is outstanding. A very critical italian family enjoyed every last bit of food we had. Most of our food was ordered here with the exceptions of the following:

Malverne Deli on Hempstead Ave in Malverne- A+
Catered the steak

Villa Maria on Main St. in East Rockaway- A+
Catered the calimari & lasagna

Osaka on Merrick Rd in Valley Stream- A+
Catered the sushi tray

Malverne Bakery on [where else] Hempstead Ave in Malverne- A+
Made our canoli cake & several pies, cakes, pastries, cookies & any other sweets you can imagine

REGISTRIES- Fortunoffs & Crate&Barrel- A+
Registered for most of my stuff at Fortunoffs like china, bedding, kitchen items etc...
but also registered at C&B for things like my everyday dishes & flatware, & anything to add a little funk to my home ;-D

BRIDAL SHOWER- A+
Broadway Beanery on Atlantic Ave. in Lynbrook
I had no part in any of planning my shower. My mom did almost everything on her own from choosing the place to picking favors [demitasse spoons, purchased at Just Announce It] to hand writing invitations, etc etc etc... My MOH Jessica set up the whole TP dress game with prizes. My BP set up the recipe cards & box. It was absolutely AMAZING! From the food to the service... Just the entire day was beautiful. THANK YOU MA! & JESS too

REHEARSAL DINNER- A-
Gabrielle's Brasserie & Wine Bar on Park Ave in Rockville Centre
We gave an A- only because we were a bit disappointed by the manager at one of our meetings. They had a menu when we first booked them that basically went out of season and they did NOT honor it when we were making our menu a week before the RD. So A- for that. But the dinner itself ended up being just perfect. The waiters were OK. Not the best I've ever had, but good enough. We had the outdoor patio all to ourselves and it was really a nice environment. The weather happened to be perfect for it. Everyone had a great night.

RD Invites- A+
DIY invites printed on parchment paper, tied with green raffia
Lost Vineyards Red Wine purchased at Pop's on Long Beach Rd in Island Park.

Re: •Rosella & Dan's Rockstar Wedding• 07•13•07 • Woodlands • St. Raymonds • Gray Studios • Peter Greco Band • Royalty Limos • Dalsimer • Tom Varghese • And MORE!

BM GIFTS- A+
1928.com- A woman named Anita helped me by phone when placing this order... she literally searched all around to find the perfect combo for my girls.

Jewelry boxes- Ebay- A+- Awesome seller! klutter*up

WEDDING GOWN- A+
Sorry girls, my dress was made by my aunt. BUT I can offer this much- I found the style I liked from Melissa Sweet & used Priscilla of Boston [A+] to try it on. Customer service was outstanding there, would've absolutely purchased from this store. However, I am blessed with a talented woman named Zia Olga and purchased the materials ourselves. Both the lace & silk charmuese that my dress was composed of were purchased at Mood Fabrics on 37th St. NYC [A+]. Pearls & crystals also were purchased in the garment district but I have no idea which store!

MANTILLA VEIL- A+
Again, sorry girls, this was my mother's veil, and my 'something old'.. Was purchased in Spain in the 60's & is silk.

HEADPIECE- A+
by Denise Leli- I saw this headpiece at an expo and immediately fell in love. It is a spray with freshwater pearls & Swarovski crystals. Denise obviously made me a brand new one & I was beyond pleased with the result. Plus, I went to her 6 weeks prior to my wedding, and she usually takes orders 3 MONTHS in advance. So she catered to my *late* needs and I had my headpiece in perfect time. I didn't pay TOO much for it, considering how much it retails for at the bridal stores. Don't get me wrong, it was a decent chunk of change, but it's the labor & quality you're paying for. FM me for details

GOWN LABEL- A+
This was my 'something blue'. I used a Knottie named Denise [www.djchic.com] who was also a newlywed and sweet as can be. Did a beautiful job, would absolutely use her again.

SHOES- A+
Anne Klein. Loved em!

TUXEDOS- A+
Advance Formal Wear on Sunrise Hwy in Rockville Centre- The groom & GM are always easy- DH wore a Ralph Lauren pin striped tux with an ivory vest & striped ivory tie- HOT!

CUFFLINKS- A+
Fortunoff's- DH bought his links here. They were rather unique in shape & style. Had a mother of pearl stripe on it, so it matched his ivory vest/tie well. Only was around $100 for his set & my father's.

BRIDESMAIDS' DRESSES- A+ Jim Hjelm JH5735
Blanchee Bridal on Main Street in East Rockaway
Choosing the BM dresses was pretty simple. I wanted to compliment my gown, and I found Jim Hjelm's site... I found the perfect dress and the perfect color. All my girls are different shapes and sizes and every single inch of these girls looked HOT! The alterations all came out beautifully too.

Junior Bridesmaids Dresses- A+ Bill Levkoff #95002
My 2 Jr BMs were totally different in size- one looked 5, the other looked 25 [even though they were actually only 8 and 12] so it was very hard for me to find an appropriate dress for them. Vicky [the owner of Blanchee's] helped me out and picked out a great simple dress. We got it in a different shade of chocolate, and it looked beautiful on them. I wanted to add a little lace to the dresses to match the BMs, so I found the perfect lace at Rags in Brooklyn. We sewed it on & attached the sash to the center of the lace. They both looked adorable!

Flowergirl Dress- A+ Alfred Angelo #6409
Also wanted to compliment both the BMs & my dress and found this one. It was PERFECT as is!

INVITATIONS- A+
Just Announce It on Long Beach Road in Oceanside
Can't say enough good things about Tara & her staff. They are so patient & QUICK!

FAVORS- A+
The Wedding Coach on 18th Ave in Brooklyn
We ordered 4 different styles of espresso sets. It was only $1 more for wrapping, ribbon & personalized ribbons. The owner was AMAZING to deal with. He let us into the store on a Sunday when they were CLOSED because he happened to see us peering into the window And ended up giving my MOH a crystal ice bucket to take home to her FH because she was considering this as a favor for her upcoming wedding. He also gave me the base for my unity candle for free. Along with a package of jordan almonds for my mom... He definately did right by us.

Jordan Almonds- B+
Villabate Bakery on 18th Ave. Brooklyn
We got several boxes of Crispo jordan almonds for the bonbonierie. It is so hard to find a good imported almond, so we settled for Crispo. They are delicious, but the sugar is not as fine as I would've liked it to be. I actually found better almonds in Astoria Queens, AFTER I purchased the Crispos. So I was SOL, but still content.

The lace doilies were also made by an aunt. Thread was purchased in our region of Italy- Molise.

The little flowers & extra ribbon were purchased at Cedarhurst Paper [B-] & Michaels[A+]

DIY ITEMS- A+
All purchased at stores like Michaels, AC Moore, Staples, Rags, Amazon, Ebay... [Almost] all of them came out well!

Re: •Rosella & Dan's Rockstar Wedding• 07•13•07 • Woodlands • St. Raymonds • Gray Studios • Peter Greco Band • Royalty Limos • Dalsimer • Tom Varghese • And MORE!

HAIR & MAKEUP- A+
Frasada in Oceanside- Giselle for hair, Michael for makeup- These 2 are unstoppable. I literally went in for my trials not having any ideas of what I wanted. I had a general idea [hair-UP, makeup- radient] and that's about all I gave them. They worked miracles and really made me look exactly how I envisioned myself [even though I didn't quite know myself!!!]
Also had manicure/pedicure done here & waxing by Ella- A+

FLORIST- C
Dalsimer Florist on Central Ave in Cedarhurst
So here's the part of the review I dislike... the NEGATIVES. I'm not picky, especially when it came to wedding planning, so you know it's GOTTA be pretty bad when I complain.
Here's the positives- David was great to deal with [AT FIRST].. He was nice & easy to talk to, went out of his way to show us how he could help us. We even got a beautiful arrangement delivered to my house when we first got engaged! We didn't even book our hall yet, and they had somehow found our name & sent us a complimentary arrangement. The flowers were all lovely & lasted for several days.
OK Day Of- The centerpieces came out beautifully. Color scheme was perfect and the arrangement looked great. I really did not do any research on flowers so what they presented to me seemed just fine. Church arrangements also were beautiful.

The delivery arrived at my house EARLY, so kudos to them on that. The BM's bouquets were lovely. Just what I envisioned really. GM boutonierres were large... but again, not something I really cared about. Dan's bout was perfect, and they sent 2 extras in case it got smushed at church, which it did. My bo-k... hated it. It was exactly what I did NOT want. My favorite flowers, of course, are all in bloom in spring, so I knew from the start that I could not have what I wanted for my summer wedding. So I found my 2nd favorite flower- raunuculus... So he said sure, I'll get those imported (even though he told me it was a dirty hippie flower and it looked cheap, meanwhile its one of the most expensive flowers on the market). So I told him to make the majority of my bo-k with this flower. Well I get a phone call on Thursday 7.12., the DAY BEFORE my wedding, from David saying that he could not get the flowers from California because they were all dead. Not for nothing.. the DAY BEFORE?!?!? C'mon... I don't think I need to explain any further the stupidity of that whole situation. So I was ticked but honestly didn't really care enough to make a stink out of it. I had entirely way too much stuff going on to care about flowers! So he told me he'd make a nice bo-k with some other flowers [I don't know one flower from the next] and I said ok, as long as it's fluffy & delicate & white. That's all I wanted. So my bo-k arrives and I immediately say 'hate it' [with a smile]... and proceed with pictures Luckily, the bo-k actually photographed well, but believe me, I tried to get more photos WITHOUT it ;-D
Now- Here's the best part- about 1 hour before the ceremony starts, we're taking pictures with the BMs in my parent's living room. We realize they sent over 7 BM bo-k's instead of 8. At this point I call up and tell them they're missing one, and they have the gall to tell me I'm wrong AS they're looking at my contract, counting my BM names... After a brief chat they sent over a new bo-k JUST in time. So everything worked out FINE. But for the amount of money that we spent on this vendor I should NOT have dealt with ANY of these silly factors. I am aware that I probably am one of the 'smaller' accounts, given their clientelle, but I still spent over $1k MORE than I was quoted at other florists who would've given almost as much as Dalsimer did. So that's why this vendor gets a C... had issues, but in the end, the flowers looked fine. I think they sent a huge arrangement to my parent's home the day after the wedding, but I was already on the flight to our HM so I didn't see it. Not that it would've made anything better ANYWAY! :-P

LIMOS- A+
Royalty Limos on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square
We dealt with Pat [?] when we booked and had a great experience. They let us walk around ALONE to sit in and see all the limos in their huge garage, which was perfect because we didn't want to be 'sold' on a limo package. I actually sat in one limo and it kinda smelled like puke. I was grossed out, but hey- it's a friggin LIMO! They're ALWAYS thrown up in, no matter what company. Luckily, they cleaned out any puke before our wedding day ;-D and they smelled just fine
We got an excalibur for ourselves, and 2 Caddy Devilles for a great price. When we went in to give our final payment, we dealt with the owner of the company, and he ended up giving us brand new Cadillac DTSs instead of the Devilles! They showed up EARLY and were ON POINT with everything. They also sent us a private car the morning after the wedding to drive us from the hotel to JFK.
We used Royalty for my Bachelorette party also. My MOH got us a Crystler 300C and it was clean, on time, and the driver was great.
I hear alot of awful stories about this company so I had to share that they were 100% for both my experiences with them, and I'm certainly using them for future rides.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY- A+
Gray Studios on Jericho Tpke in New Hyde Park
Prosper for photos, +1 assistant, & Chris[?] for video
So we booked Gray because we liked their quality & style best out of 4 house vendors. I'm a graphic artist so I'm pretty critical on any photoshop work in a wedding album. We both agreed that Gray didn't use cheesy effects and were confident that they would make us a great digital album. We also really loved the owner Michael. He was easy to work with and even offered us real estate advice
Part of our package included a free Engagement Shoot and 8x10. All of our shots came out great so we knew that he'd work out perfectly for the wedding day. http://www.liweddings.com/community/album/?ID=7091 We also really liked Prosper & his mannerisms- very professional but loose & a bit wacky I HATE taking pictures and I get very tense, but he really made me feel comfortable on the wedding day. We received our proofs which came out PERFECT, but have yet to order TYs or the album. So stay tuned for more

BAND- A+
Peter Greco Music & Entertainment on Great Neck Rd in Great Neck
This band does NOT do showcases, they work by word of mouth, and now I know why. Peter was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire planning stage. They are an absolutely talented, fun, tight band who works with their crowd and knows how to get the party rolling, and how to KEEP it rolling! DH is a musician, and alot of our guests were musicians so we really wanted kick @ss music. Needless to say- the dance floor was jam packed the entire night pretty much! We had 10 pieces and they really got the party going. The singers actually come out onto the floor and dance with you and interact with the guests. It was simply PERFECT!
If you're looking for a true wedding band- this is the one. We did NOT want them to play any current pop or hip-hop type music, but they do play pop at weddings. If you want a band that can play more rock- this is NOT the band for you. They do alot of mo-town, funk, and typical DANCE music. They do NOT play any of those kiddy party, line dance type songs... The only 'organized' dance song we asked them to play is the Tarantella [which if you've been an Italian wedding, you know there's nothing organized about it ]
Here's the general songs we had them play:

BP Entrance- 1999 by Prince

Our Entrance- Little Less Conversation by Elvis
First Dance- The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra
Cake Cutting- Memories are Made of this by Dean Martin

Father/Daughter dance- Figlia Mia by Gigone
Mother/Son dance- Unforgettable by Nat King Cole
I can't think of anything else...
Some songs [such as the Italian ones-Figlia Mia, and some of the obscure oldies] were played on CD because I didn't give them my song list until ONE WEEK before the wedding so they didn't have the time to learn them. But those were the songs I had my heart set on, so I agreed to them playing the CD, otherwise they would've played another song we picked live.
Another thing we did was have DH play drums with the band to 'What I Like About You' by the Romantics. The singers didn't know the lyrics so we had one of our rockstar friends sing It was truly a highlight of the night, and really gave our wedding a 'homey' feel. Everyone was dancing and having a blast. Peter & his band did a phenominal job! I HOPE YOU SEE THIS PETER! TOLD YOU I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO ALL OF LONG ISLAND ;-D

St. Raymond's Roman Catholic Church- A+
Father John
What can I say? This has been my church from birth. I've celebrated every sacrament here. I HAD to be married here. Luckily, DH is not Catholic, so we didn't have to fight over who's church to have it at. He is actually Lutheran [not practicing] and Father John welcomed him with open arms. Dan actually has had many thoughts of converting and Father John was there for us EVERY DAY, ANY DAY, ANY TIME! Any questions me or Dan had, he was there to help us with. He made us feel so comfortable. Our Pre-cana group was phenominal. There were 2 couples teaching each session- 2 hours per week for 6 weeks. DH & I knew ALOT about one another prior to being engaged. After pre-cana we knew even MORE. It WAS a religious experience for us, but it was also a personal experience. It completely opened our eyes in a way that I can't even describe. The way we feel about marriage now is COMPLETELY different because of our pre-cana leaders. It's truly an amazing feeling & we're so happy we had such a beautiful group of people to share it with.

Woodlands A+
Wow, where do I begin? Everything from soup to nuts was outstanding. As soon as I walked in, it was just a feeling I can't even explain. To see the year's worth of hard work [and $$$] right in front of my eyes just left me speechless. The mansion itself was just perfect, the paint, the decor, everything was sparkling. The lighting was so romantic & set the mood. Max our Maitre'de was outstanding. Went above and beyond for us that night and was so much fun! We had guests chanting 'MAX! MAX! MAX!' by the end of the drunken night My poor bridal assistant, I asked her name 15 times through out the night and to this day I still don't remember it but I will remember her face forever! She was SO SWEET and really helped me with everything and anything. As soon as we arrived she was there waiting outside for us, asking to carry things or bring us food and drinks. She was just phenominal.
As soon as I walked into the ballroom I saw our cake. It came out EXACTLY how I wanted it! Just loved it!

Need I say the food was outstanding?? If you've ever eaten at the Mansion you'd know.. Such unique dishes. My family being off-the-boat Italians are SO hard to please. They all LOVED the food. I didn't like the appetizer we picked, so make sure that if you choose something off the menu- TRY IT FIRST! It was one of the only items I had never tried before but I was sure that it would be good. It WAS good, just not to my personal tasting. I thought it was too sweet [butternut squash ravioli]
I asked a ton of people about CH food since I was chatting the hour away, and all said it was wonderful & had plenty of food.
Viennese hour- I also didn't see much of, but heard it also was delectable! The cake itself I HAD to take a bite of and it was moist and tasty... Even the fondant icing was delicious.

The service was impeccable [just like they say over the recording on the phone ] and overall was a dream come true.

Fox Hollow- A
We crashed here for the few hours we had until our flight after our wedding. We arrived here around 2:30am and were gone by 7:30am, so we didn't really care if the room wasn't a 5 star. We got a bridal suite which was actually nicer than the one I'd seen in the past [went to a wedding here and went up to the bridal suite afterwards and really disliked it- the decor, the suite itself was just NOT worth the $300 or $400 in MY opinion] BUT the suite we got on our wedding night was on the main floor and was really nice! Had a bottle of champagne waiting for us [which we later found out was set up by one of our GM ] In the morning I grabbed some quick munchies for the limo ride to JFK and left our packages with the concierge to give to a GM who also had a room here. Everything turned out great in our short stay here

HM Travel Agent- TOM VARGHESE!- A+
I really wanted this man to come on vacation with us From the very beginning he was more than helpful with EVERYTHING. Answered each and every one of my idiotic questions and sounded delighted at all times We did not know what we wanted to do and he guided us in the right direction, got us an AMAZING villa in Maui, and kept within our budget. He planned all our tours and activities for us. We called him up while we were in Mexico because we had to cancel a snorkel cruise due to medical reasons and he was on top of everything. I can not say enough good things about this man.. I will give a full review on the honeymoon at a later date, and you'll hear the rest of my novel then...

For now, I believe I spoke about everything I possibly could've spoken about and I'm a 100% SICK of wedding thoughts. See ya on the Newlywed Board, 07 Board & in FM land... Best of luck to you all!

Here's a run-through of photos, all out of order, sorry if I duplicated. I'm just too lazy for all this! It took me 4 days [within 3 weeks] to finish this !

This was amazing! I love mantilla veils and i LOVE your dress and I'm so jealous that your aunt made it! I have a zia too who used to make all our clothes when we were little but now she has arthritis so she can't... it's so much more special that way! You look absolutely beautiful!

Absolutely Georgous!!!!!!!! Every part of it. Are you sure your Aunt doesn't want to go into business?

I am getting married at St. Raymond's Church too -- that has been my church since birth as well - I love it!
