Before doing a mailing maybe you should ask if we are still brides-to-be

I am getting a lot of mailing from LIW vendors and the truth is it is a huge waste of your money. Many of us are already married. You might want to ask LIW for only non-married names. I hate to see small businesses waste money on direct mail pieces that just go into the garbage since I no longer have a need for a headpiece, videographer etc...

In the meantime, a good way to inexpensively sort out prospective brides-to-be who do not want to be contacted or who are already married is to email them as a group, if you have that capability on your computer. If I receive notice from a bride or newlywed (or anyone for that matter) to be removed from my list I do that before I send out a mailing which is much more costly. Thanks for bringing this subject to the table!

Lead lists that are generated by LIWeddings do have a wedding date listed for vendors to check.

Honestly I am hoping to help save you all money by not targeting already married brides. I hope that bringing this issue to your attention will help your marketing programs become more cost effective.
Also, most direct mail pieces are all the same. I think you should all try to begin to get more creative in your marekting approaches. Sending me a flyer doesn't grab my attention. I know most of you are small companies so perhaps you can work with LIW to create some new ideas on how to target brides.
I think making sure your websites are very up to date is also very important. I think a lot of business is lost because of poorly designed web sites now.

All LIW vendor listings are listed with your wedding date. Many vendors also receive listings from many magazines, shows, media, etc. that are not as complete. It is very common to get duplicate names & addresses.
