florist quote?

florist quote?

Hi florists! My wedding is on May 23, 2009 in Wading River. It is getting close, but since I'm not yet certain of colors or table counts, I haven't booked a florist yet. What information do I absolutely need before getting a florist quote and how far in advance should I be doing that since I am less than 6 months away right now? I will likely have between 200-250 guests, 8 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, 7 groomsmen and then parents and grandparents that will need boutonnieres or corsages. Any ideas on what pricing I should expect?

THANK YOU!!!

Re: florist quote?

Personally, I think that it would be a good idea if you did book a florist as soon as possible, only because May is a popular month for weddings, and it gets even more popular as it gets warmer. I think that it is a misconception that you need any specific information to book a florist--all you really need is a definite date and hopefully a general time as to when you want your ceremony and reception to begin--location is good too, but is not quite as critical as date. Use your florist as a resource to discuss color schemes, design ideas, etc., it's what we do. We don't expect you to have all your plans laid out in stone necessarily. If you do have dresses picked out already, photos and swatches are definitely helpful ultimately, but you can certainly book a florist that you like without having all that information.
