October Sunlight

We are getting married on Oct 12, 2003 the week before falling back one hour w/ the clocks.

Our ceremony is at 3:30 pm w/pictures to follow at Planting fields (approx 5pm) Out of the seven photographers that we interviewed, only one mentioned that we may run into a light problem at the Planting Fields for pictures. He recommended that we see each other prior to the ceremony for shooting photo's. We don't like this idea

Does anybody think that it would be too dark to take pictures at 5pm in the middle of October?

We would appreciate any input

Thanks

Re: October Sunlight

Hi Nancy! Wow, this one stumped me at first. I did some research and found this website for you, you can actually punch the city/state closest to you, and the date you're interested in and they'll tell you when the sun rises and sets. It's pretty cool. The photographer may have told you some good information: according to the site, the sun will set at 5:21pm. Being that you don't want your pictures taken together before the wedding (I don't blame you!) just tell whoever your photog is that he/she better have the camera loaded and ready to go. The sun will only start setting at that time, so you should be able to get some good shots in, and then maybe even some romantic ones of just the two of you when it's that twilighty color.
Here's the link:

Hope it was helpful, and if there's anything else you need help with, feel free to ask.

My best with the rest of your planning! --Laura

Re: October Sunlight

A ceremony lasts approx. one hour, meaning from the time it starts to the time you are in the limos and pulling away from the church. Then you have driving time from the church to Planting Fields. So if your ceremony is at 3:30 I would estimate you're leaving the church at 4:30 p.m. I don't know where the church is in relation to Planting Fields, but depending on that is when you will arrive, whether it will be five or not. You will be really fighting the clock and that is if you don't run into any unexpected delays, such as a car accident or traffic on the way, etc. The beach is the only location that would have sun for a longer amount of time. Treed areas in the park will be darker, of course. There really won't be any beautiful light in the photos. Hope this helps.
