Hi! I am trying to decide between a 1 o'clock wedding ceremony or a 3 o'clock start time. The reception won't start till 7. How long do I need for Photos?? I'd like to do a receiving line at the church, photos at the church, hopefully go to a beach to do photos and then photos at the reception site (Atlantis Marine World). My Fiancee and I don't want to loose much time from the cocktail hour to do pics. Any ideas on how long I should set aside?
Any help would be appreciated!!
THANK YOU!

Re: photographer - time frame?
Hi Kara,
Atlantis Marine World is a fun place to take wedding photos. The cement floor is a little hard on the feet for dancing so wear comfortable shoes.
If your ceremony starts at 1 add 10 minutes or so in case it starts late. A full mass and a receiving line (which is hard to avoid) gets you on your way by 2:45 or so. It could be sooner. A 3 pm ceremony moves this to 4:45.
Then figure travel time to Marine World. If the cocktail hour starts at 6 then this would give you almost 3 hours -- which is helpful if you have a large bridal party and lots of family photos to take. You also need to factor in a little time to speak with the Maitre'd, and review things.
If your cocktail hour starts at 7 then I would go for the 3 pm ceremony. Your wedding is in August so it will remain light for a long time. The other plus for a 3 pm ceremony is you won't have to wear your gown as long and it will be cooler later in the day. A 3 pm ceremony will also be more convenient for your guests.
Almost forgot, you need to check with Marine World regarding what time you can arrive and if the aquarium is open to the public until a specific time.
We like to allow two hours for photography of you and the groom, the bridal party and the families. We will work with less if necessary but, we find that 2 hours is ideal and allows for creativity.
Atlantis does a great job with a really unique feel. Good choice.

Happy planning!

Re: photographer - time frame?
Both of your choices will work, but you'll get more photos, more real quality and creativity, and more enjoyment of your wedding day if you choose the 1:00 time. We don't don't charge for the extra time. We enjoy the day more too. If you go to our website, you will see on one of our on-line weddings our photos of a wedding from Atlantis in Riverhead (We also have photographed at the Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.) Best of luck on your engagement. Have you already done engagement photographs?
