Professional Makeup

I am not sure what I am doing about make up for the big day, and it's coming up quick. I like doing my own mascara, could I do my own and the makeup artist do the shadow/liner etc.

Also is not a good idea to do all of my own makeup that day? Besides being a great makeup artist what else makes it better to get it professionaly done? TIA
