Re: Video/Photography
Well.....I can answer for my company, Wild Rose Video. We are videographers, not photographers.
We specialize in creating videos. We put all of our effort into your wedding videos. We shoot, we edit and we personalize our relationship from the very start. Either Bill or myself will be at every job.
We do not sell photography because we are not professionial photographers. It's like coke selling budweiser beer. They are both drinkable, but two different types of drinks.
I can not speak for any other video company or photography studio. Everyone does business in a different maner and do offer different services.
Photography captures in still, we capture in motion.
Two different types of cameras, two different types of coverage.
Hope that explains why Wild Rose Video does not sell photography.
Good Luck!

Re: Video/Photography
I agree with Marie. Our company specializes in video as well. Most people probably think that photography and video are the same, but it is like comparing apples and oranges. All the work we do is 'in house'. We are able to personalize your video.
Generally speaking, if there is a company that offers both, they may only specialize in one field. You may want to ask if any work is sent out.
I hope this helps!
Thanks,
Stacy

Re: Video/Photography
Jodi, I agree with the two above posts. I feel you get a much better end product with a company that just specializes in their prospective field. That is all they do and can devote the necessary time needed to specializing in their craft. A lot of people combine video and still photography together when they shop, but they should be thought of as two separate entities. In my opinion, when wedding companies ventures into too many fields, some of the services can get diluted. I feel you are always better in the long run, hiring specific vendors for specific tasks. Good luck to you.Mindi and Rich Verdi

Re: Video/Photography
Ditto - I refer my customers to independent videographers with their own business (varying styles and price ranges.) Some who include both just do the minimum for the secondary business.

Re: Video/Photography
Most wedding centers offer both video and photography as a discounted package, but you need to be sure that whoever is doing your photo and video are both competent and experienced. Also be sure to view that particular persons work, not someone else's.Also, photo studios just specialize in photos. The same goes for video companies.
Photography and videography are two separate forms of art, so a true photographer will not offer video and vice versa.
Good luck with your planning!
