Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hey Girls,I was wondering if any of you have tips on what stuff you really need for the wedding? I'm trying to get my list organized for india and don't know everything about what is required.
So far i have-
Outfits for the bridal party,
Jewelry
Gifts for future inlaws
Attendee Gifts.
Any tips would be helpful.
Thanks

Depending on what kind of party favors you are interested in, you can check it out. Once you get to a store, you list will automatically grow to include things that never even thought of. Where are you heading to? Bombay, Banglore, Delhi? My parents did my wedding shopping!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
hey, i went to india for two weeks in august and i shopped like a mad woman to get outfits for myself, my entire family, my husband, gifts for his family, invitations, favors. i mean it was CRAZY!!don't forget matching jewelry for all outfits, bindis, shoes and if your ceremony requires certain items (like religous stuff), it's cheaper and nicer there.
someone mentioned invitations and i definitely recommend it. there's so much more variety and soooo much cheaper ( i paid a little over a dollar for mine and they were gorgeous!)

Joshisgirl,
Can you post a picture of your invitation and where you got it from? FH and I are thinking of getting invites from India but aren't really liking what we're seeing. We want something fairly simple. Thanks!

My mom is going soon. FH just got back from India...his grandma is pretty sick.....anyway, he looked at invitations really quickly while he was there and came back with one (book style....which is what we're really looking for), but neither of us really like it. I mean, it says INVITATION on it and on the cover....both FH and I are not a fan of that, hehe.I figure my mom'll have an easier time finding one if i show her one i like =)

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
yeah I would def suggest getting invitations and favors done from there. My mom is going soon also, and she is pretty much getting EVERYTHING! its a lot cheaper there, not necessarily with outfits, but def with invitations and favors. Getting matching jewelry and shoes to your outfits is a good idea as well. My mom will also bring the Mehndi decorations from there too!

There is a printing shop call Bhagyoday in Iselin, NJ. I went there to check out their wedding invites and they were beautiful but totally expensive. A card that i liked would've cost me like 4.50 but i got the same card at Parekh card for like a buck including printing. But i am sure if you just want printing they can do it.
Also, try like a PIP printing. I got my 'will you be my bridesmaids card there' and they aren't expensive at all.

How was working with Parekhcards?? I keep sending them revisions and stuff.. and they do it.. but I feel like when they do the revisions, they don't look at the aesthetic aspect of it!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
First parekh website was down for like a week and i freaked cause i wanted to get my invites from them. When the website was finally working I ordered and had to wait almost 5 days to get a draft. Now i am in the process of sending revisions and blah blah but i feel like you have to basically know what wording, font and style you want cause they don't really have any clue. They basically have the cards and you have to style it!Are you having a good experience so far?
