Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
yeah well.. i mean that guy is nice when you talk to him. they charged my card and when the samples came, it said cod (cash on delivery) so i had to pay ups as well.. but i called him and he said he'll deduct the amt from my order if i do plan on ordering from them.i customized the envelope, the card itself.. the insert and stuff i am working on. my wording is very simple.. but the problem is fitting it all. i have to keep sending an email for every comma, period and stuff..
i can't do that for the program cards.. back and forth..

Why did you have to pay ups? I just paid one fee?
What sort of things did you do the envelope? I dont like the fonts they provide. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
they wrote cash on delivery and the status cannot be changed while the goods are in transit.. so i have a copy of the check.. which i have to send them..i didn't want calligraphy.. with a lot of loops and curls, you can hardly read it and it takes away from the invite.. i'll send you an FM with the details...

Hey, I didn't forget about you.. I have the stuff at work (so much doing 'work' at work).. and I'll send it you tomorrow with the fonts I used.
i'm trying to get these invitations out of the way.. i need to go register and we might start it this weekend.. figure out my reception outfit
..and of course i've been desperately trying to shed about 10 lbs before i go figure my outfit... alas it will not happen unless some miracle happens..

i wish there was like a secret pill that would zap the fat away permanently.
I am starting to feel overwhelmed now cause this invitation is soo stressful. I have my proof but i need to find a font soon cause i want the invites to be mailed out so i can get them by new years.
my wedding is in March and i feel like nothing is even done yet.

hey, i went to india for two weeks in august and i shopped like a mad woman to get outfits for myself, my entire family, my husband, gifts for his family, invitations, favors. i mean it was CRAZY!!
don't forget matching jewelry for all outfits, bindis, shoes and if your ceremony requires certain items (like religous stuff), it's cheaper and nicer there.
someone mentioned invitations and i definitely recommend it. there's so much more variety and soooo much cheaper ( i paid a little over a dollar for mine and they were gorgeous!)
Joshisgirl,
Can you post a picture of your invitation and where you got it from? FH and I are thinking of getting invites from India but aren't really liking what we're seeing. We want something fairly simple. Thanks!
hey, sorry it took so long. we're still living out of boxes so i couldnt find the wire for my camera and had to borrow my sisters'. the pics are under my albums. hope it helps!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Parekh has fonts on their website and the ones they have just doesn't stand out to me. I want something like in script and calligraphy but i am worried that it might bleed. I don't know their printing quality. so i am going to go with a basic font of script. But, i am still not too happy with it.Jagruti, your invites are so pretty. What font did you end up using? I want something similiar.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
i used edwardian script. y would it bleed? have u tried indianwedding card.com? i ordered a sample from them and it was really fast and was really nice.people did say that since i printed in gold, it was difficult to read. but it still looked so pretty

well my card insert is like silky feel on it. I am printing in red and i feel like if its too much swirls it might touch.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
yeah, i think u should, or maybe talk to them directly over the phone and ask questions instead of e-mail.can i recommend someone for photo? i used gail chatelain and i was her first indian wedding and i absolutely loved her. she just dropped off my pro pics last week and they look amazing! she's in ny till the 17th (she lives in CA)
plus she's very reasonable with prices and she was just great overall at the wedding. everyone loved her.
do u need help with other things? like vendors and stuff?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I am using coppergoth.. and for the second insert i'm using script as well as coppergoth..my engagement invite was in gold font... it was beautiful since the invite was champagne and gold.. but my wedding invite will most likely be written in copper or maroon..
i drew things out for parekh on photoshop of how i wanted certain things and stuff.. a pic is worth a thousand words.. especially dealing w/ overseas companies!!!
photography.. try kim's studio, karisma studios & proline studios.. i liked all their work and prices are moderate to expensive but their work is great..
