Happy New Year everyone - quick question - Do people have center pieces for the engagement? Ours is at the Sterling and we have about 300 people.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Yeah I know, I can't believe how quickly it flew, but I'm happy about it. I want it to be here already!!!! Still, so many things to do, so little time. And I definately think I'm gonna have to make a lot of calls this weekend for RSVP's because the date is Saturday and I got like 10 out of 200. This probab;y happened to all of you, but I'm casually getting calls from family and stuff saying they can't wait, so I already put them on the Yes list without even getting the cards back.
I got my shoes over the weekend also, from the city, they look totally blinged out with like 3 1/2 inch heels, don't know how those are gonna stay on all night,

Hey, Soon2bMrsRP, I only had like 50 people at my engagement party and it was at Tandoor, so I didn't have cp's, but I wouldn't go crazy. You can do something small, like candles, or go totally old school, and put baloons, but save your better cp ideas for the wedding.

We had about 200 people.. and we had a decorator because we needed a mandap for the ceremony and stuff.. the cp's were included in the package for the guest tables, and some other stuff as well but we had buy seperate flowers for the head table..

But if the cp's weren't included, I wouldn't thought about it..

Breaking them in, good idea, I need to do that, otherwise my feet will not last throughout the night. Thanks.

I saw a couple of posts about having trouble finding a make up person - A really good make up person is Sumati Rajput - she lives in New Hyde Park and works out of her house - she does a great job and is really nice.

Can i have her info plz?

Hey Girls -

I was wondering if any of you know a good place for a garba - we were really just looking for a hall that we could rent out and then set things up ourselves....we'd prefer something in suffolk but any ideas would be great...! thanks so much...

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Soo, FH and I kinda never got around to sending out our save the date cards....but we finally have a list of people to send them out to. The thing is, our wedding is in 5 months now and the invitations are going to go out at the end of Feb....so is it pointless to send them out now? Or should we anyway since we have them all stamped and ready to go?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

You should send them out so that way, people won't make other plans for that weekend and delay the invites as well.

She does thread/wax - she's a little more expensive then those places but she does a good job - doesn't hurt at all.

I'm looking for a garba hall as well - I was looking at this thread and it seems like people were having garbas at akbar, sterling and other halls like that - I was looking for more of a basic hall where I could do the decorations myself - let me know if you hear anything.
