Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hey i had a question about invitations..My mom is going to Pak to get them done. I have asked her to get a mehndi invite, a reception invite, and the rsvp cards. Am I missing anything?? plz let me know! oh and as far as wording goes, do you think it would be nice to put a lil saying in it, or just keep it simple? For my engagement invites, I had a short poem in it. Also, what is the correct wording for the immediate family names. for example, some ppl write 'With best compliments' and start listing names..does anyone know what im talking about?? lol

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

As far as a lil saying in the invites, i used a quote from the quran on one of my inserts. But you necessarily dont have too quote or put any saying in your invites. Its entirely up to you.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

so Parekh did good!! I'm excited now, I should be getting my cards shortly!!

I am puting a Ganesha prayer in the front a poem in the back.. for the engagement I used a quote..

I saw a card in which the bride wrote 'blessings from' instead of best compliments.. and it was nice..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Yea, I'll have a Bible verse on my invitations.

And I think it's normally Best Compliments from.....and then the bride and grooms siblings.....but I like With Blessings from....that is cute

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

They came out really nice. I'll try to scan the pics but it wasn't coming out nicely. There were a few slight changes, but overall they are beautiful. They used bright blue hydrangeas, blur orchids, red roses and pink roses with white birch coming out the middle, it's looks really bright and pretty. I'm only having 4 high cp's and 14 low cp's, but they look so very different. If I can get the pics to scan, I will post them. Plans are getting crazy, but I'm trying to be sane. Looking in the mail everyday for the RSVP's, but so far, only got 2, so I know phone calls will definately have to be made soon.

How about everything with you??

yeah, I'm mailing it out as well.. my engagement cards weight about .90 cents or something.. so I'm assuming this might be a little bit more. I am hoping to do customized stamps, but it takes like a month or so to do and it's way more expensive

I can't believe 2008 is almost year.. girlssssss... we're going to married women next year!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

RSVP date is January 5, 2008, you figure, about 1 month before the wedding and it's almost here. But that's what happens around the holidays, everybody forgets........ Wow, your invitations must be big, mine only cost $0.58 to mail, not bad right??? But they were american invites from Birchcraft, so I guess that's why. Started to buy favor things and ribbons, so I'm getting to the fun arts and crafts stuff to take my mind off the ceremony, i'm soo nervous!!!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

i wanted to do the american invites too but they were 6/7 bucks a piece w/ all the add ons.. they were soo beautiful!! maybe thank you cards or something from them.. i'm not too keen on putting our pics in w/ the thank you cards because not everyone will keep them..

right before the engagement, we had a mass assembly line at home.. these desi cards do not come w/ a self-adhesive flap so we have to put glue, make sure it doesn't seep through.. aah..

for the rsvp, did any how was it formatted?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I am actually inviting limited amount when it comes to certain families. ex: family of 5 will get '3' written on their card.

so i went with this format:

We would be honored by your presence at our celebration.

Number of Guests ______

Names of Guest________________

________yes, I/we will be attending.

_______ Sorry, unable to attend.

Please RSVP by

I put the rsvp as the last thing our guest would see so they will hopefully process 'ow i have to mail this out' I know...wishful thinking...LOL
