Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

We are thinking about actually getting a blocked rate at one of the hotels in the area where our friends can get rooms and just have an afterparty there in one of the rooms. Previously friends had afterparties at the Huntington Hilton or the Uniondale Marriot. Bars are difficult since people are usually dressed in indian clothing.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Yeah I know, 2 months, wow, I can't believe it. But you know, I was stressing about stuff before, like the bm lenghas, still didn't come in yet, but I stopping stressing. I'm just gonna let things flow, what happens happens and as long as we have a good time, that's all that matters. Nobody's gonna care what the flowers look like, or how much food there is, all that matters is that people have fun and me and FH look good, so that's what's keeping me going everyday, otherwise I would be going nuts rite now!!! Anyway, how's your planning going???

I can't even begin to think about an afterparty. My day's strating at like 7 am that day until 1am, I think i'm just gonna pass out on the limo after the reception. But the hotels rooms is a good idea if you're actually gonna have the energy for an afterparty.

Yea, I think we're just going to put down hotel info of a place that has a bar available for people my age to go to after the reception...and that way they can stay the night too if they need/want to. Our reception ends at 5:30pm....that's really early!

I registered at Macy's. I just love the stuff they have and they have everything from dishes, to bathroom to bedroom stuff, it's great. They also have a great rewards program that you get 10% back on your macy's card from items purchased on the registry. You should check them out.

We're registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and we just started a registry at Sears for electronics....like a digital camera, tv, etc.

I love that 10% back deal for Macys, but it seemed like BBB had all the same stuff Macy's did and more (at least from the stores we went to)....so we decided just to stick with them.

Do any of you girls have a wedding website??

I'm planning on one.. I'm planning to put the registry on it along with directions to the location rather than stuffing the envelope with itty bitty papers.

May24Bride, you have time later on to have a little extra something.. but my day will begin early and will most likely end after mid-night! I have to get up next the morning, get ready again for the post-wedding functions at the FH's home!!

hey, thanks!! honestly, i could have really let things bother me. biggest things: 1) videographer missed ceremony, 2) centerpiece holders were not correct, 3) MANY people who rsvp'd yes did not show (apparently people think weddings are free)

but the day of, you just kind of have to let things go since it's beyOnd your control at that point.
i had a great time regardless!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

videographer WHAT!?!? You must have the patience of a saint.. seriously!! I'm so sorry to hear that, I am not even sure what to tell you.. did they offer to compensate in monetary terms though that would mean nothing..

people pulled that for my engagement, RSVP yes and did not show up, and we had a few who said NO and still showed up?! people lack manners and etiquette, can't do much about it!!
