Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

We are dancing to a song called Insatiable by Darren Hayes, makes me feel all mushy when I hear it.

Hey, speaking of songs, what song are you entering the reception to and what song are your bm entering to?? I am having brain freezes trying to decide.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Nice mixture Leena. Yeah, I love that song, The way I are by Timbaland, that's why me and FH will be entering to that. But I feel the same way, like I never heard music before. Everytime I hear a song on the radio, I play it back in my mind and see if it works for the entrance (they never do, lol). We are not having a dhol player either. Also, 2 of my bm are american and 2 indian, so I would rather do an american song as an entrance for them, just like us.

More suggestions from any other brides???????

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

RGV, nice mixture. I like those songs. I like let's get it started by black eyed peas, but bm saying that it's too common. Did you pick whatever you wanted and that was it, or did you have your bm all agree on the songs???

I agree....it's nice to consider what everyone else says, but in the end, it's your wedding...your day....your celebration of love, so do what you feel will make it special for you and FH

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hey GTBride, any specific location that you are looking for? NJ/NY? In Edison, NJ, there is a really good place at the corner of Maharani Salon (unfortunately the name skips my mind and I have to give you directions like people do in India)

I don't go to Queens that much but my friend got her wedding stuff altered at a place near Karisma and it came out really nice!

What are you ladies doing for favors? I want to give something that's very shockingly Indian.. but can't seem to find put my finger on it..

true..never even thought about House of Dipali..

Btw: I booked another lady from Queens for my mendhi.. she came with high recommendations and her prices were much more resonable and she's willing to trek down to my place.. if anyone needs her info, FM me..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

did your friend get it done in jackson heights?

I am kinda looking first around the ny area but if i dont find anything with great quality i will definately hold you to giving me those directions..lol

first i gotta find some gold shoes but i have wide feet so i want something really comfortable.

Yeah..Karisma is located right across the street from Patel Groceries and it is in Jackson Heights.. try Hicksville also, there are a lot of Indian stores there.

I bought my gold shoes from Macy's for my engagement... I'm going to use the same for the wedding aswell.. because I finally broke into it!! I paid about 150 bucks for it .. it's strappy.. and gives me about 4 inches more..

try DSW - love their shoes, styles and prices are always just right!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

What do you ladies think about putting 'No Boxed Gifts Please'

It'll be so much easier because just incase if people bring gifts to the wedding we would have to lug to his house and then to our place.. and put things in our apt.and stuff..

Does it look bad that we put something like that??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Are you registered anywhere?....A lot of registries can have gifts shipped directly to you so ppl don't have to bring it to the wedding. If you say 'no boxed gifts', you're pretty much asking for $, right? I don't know if I'd want to limit my guests to only $....some people don't feel right giving a small amount of cash, but feel better giving a few items from a registry, even if it adds up to the same small amount of cash.

What about assigning someone to 1. watch the gift table and 2. be in charge of getting it from the reception hall to wherever?
