Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I was actually thinking about the red velvet cake as well, because it would look sooo nice when you cut it, but then these old school indian family peoples, might not eat the unfamiliar, so we are going with regular vanilla cake.Back to the RSVP topic, I could not put a certain number of family members on the card, if a family we invited has 10 people, then I can't restrict them, it sux......this whole thing with inviting people and stuff, FMIL went a little crazy and is driving my family, including myself nuts...I just can't wait until this whole thing is over. Only 1 month to go, yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah and on top of that, it was hard enough to pick a first dance song and cake cutting song, now I need to choose songs for the video as well......I can't decide, any suggestions???

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
My FIL's also was like we cannot restrict people.. it's against protocol.. of course FH was not having any of that.. so I guess we will be restricting how many from each family..
And don't get upset.. your counting down to one of the best days of life.. so live through all the emotions.. I guess it's part of the big day.. oo songs.. desi or american??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hi everyone,I've been doing some photographer shopping and really loved the work that HOT has done. They're charging quite a bit though - for an engagement, reception and one other event they're charging close to 8,500. Is this the average? Also, has anyone heard of BNB Photography? New to LIWeddings so I'd appreciate all the advice I can get.
Thanks!

Yes, that includes videography as well. 2 photogs for the engagement, 2 photogs for the reception, 1 photog for garba, and videographers for all. 2 albums for me and fiance and 2 for the parents (1 each). Love TOTP!

I'm looking for an Indian DJ for my engagement party and the reception. I've heard of DJ Amrit from Bollywood DJs. He's doing the Sterling for New Year's.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
thanks for the advice - also, is it necessary to have two photogs at the engagement? we'll have about 300 people and i'm not sure, but FH thinks it'll be a good idea.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Usually they say the bigger the amount of people, the more photographers you need. For 300 people, 2 photographers are a good idea.I checked out HOT and they looked good, but their video looked a bit to 'old school' indian, but the photography was excellent. Prices are comparable to other good places as well. I went with Duval. They are an american company but do like 90% indian weddings and great to deal with as well.
For my video, my mom wants me to put desi music for the ceremony and getting ready parts and stuff and I convinced her to let me put some american music for the reception, but I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I saw a couple of posts about having trouble finding a make up person - A really good make up person is Sumati Rajput - she lives in New Hyde Park and works out of her house - she does a great job and is really nice.

Amrit is a good friend of mine..
his prices are great and he's done a few parties for us (non weddings) and is good.. his prices are much lower than sharad, kucha and magic mike..
he's good.. it depends on what you are looking for and how much you plan on spending..

I like Sade, 'by your side' it's got a nice meaning and beat to it.. my brain is fried when it comes to music.. i swear ever since I started 'noticing' songs and thinking about what to use for the wedding, nothing sticks in my mind, I can't think of any songs I like... nada.. zip.. zilch..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Sure, the website is www.duvalny.com. The phone number is 516-783-0420. Anybody there is really great to work with, but you can talk to Liz or Glenn, they have been working with me on my wedding. They are located in Wantagh, NY. It's very easy to get to.Thanks for the song help, but i'm still a blur also, I'm having my mom choose something, she's more familiar and has less things on her mind, lol, I think.

Yea I know - I wasn't too crazy about their videography. I feel like getting someone else to do the video is going to get crazy plus he won't give me a good deal if I don't book both with him.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I think it is a better idea to book both with one company as you do get a better deal. But a lot of brides on this thread booked with 2 different companies and still got great results, so it all depends on your taste and budget.I would say, still look around a little bit. I looked at like 8 photographers before I made my decision.
