Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I honestly don't really know how it works....if they have different fillings and we get to try it out or not. I know they don't offer tasting for the regular menu. I guess as we discuss the menu, this is something I'll have to remember to bring up though.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

My cake is through ButterCooky bakery since my RH, floral terrace is providing the cake. We were able to taste the fillings and the cake (after a little persuasion) and they tasted phenominal!!! We just had to provide the design and got to choose the fillings and it was covered by the RH. This bakery has really good cakes, so I would definately give them a try!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

So I got my invites (ordered from 123weddingcards.com) and they're really beautiful however I feel like they're too fancy for an engagement. Now, I don't know what to do
I am getting married in India so i'm trying to justify it by thinking well I'm just having my engagement here and a reception in October so it's ok if it's a bit fancy - but it totally looks like it's for a wedding. Any thoughts? Am I overreacting?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

aww honey do not worry!!

my engagement invites were way too fancy as well.. cost wise and design wise.. unfortunately now I can't deal w/ my wedding invites because I feel that they don't match up! and every time i make a correction or edit for my wedding invite, i get depressed!

but no worries.. if the card is beautiful and extravagant.. let it be.. you picked it because you liked it.. and no i don't think you are not overreacting.. at all!! :)

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I handed out some of my invites this weekend and i gotten alot of phone calls so far to say how fancy the invites looks and how beautiful they are. I am soo excited

My RH is providing the cake but i have to pick the design. Have anyone ever seen a square and round tiered cake? I was thinking of doing this and the guy at the RH looked at me a bit funny. I need a picture i guess to show him. But i only have a vision.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

If you do a search on this site for cakes, you get a lot of pretty ones. I have seen square and round cakes. I actually got my cake design from this site as well. It looks soo indian. I will try and post a picture.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I tried, but I can't place the pictures since they are saved onto a word document, but i'm sure if you do a google search for round and square cakes, you will find a lot.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

So - I'm trying to figure out center pieces for the engagement party at Sterling. The place is pretty nice as is, but I was thinking of doing something as a centepiece - maybe something around candles or rose petals or both. Any ideas?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

cake cutters maybe.. i totally dig it!! flutes.. most likely not..

i agree both are a waste.. what i wanted was sword to cut the cake
since i can't seem to find a sword (my family thinks I am nuts and so does FH).. i might have to resort to a cake cutter..

can you rent stuff? most decorators have stuff they rent out and can embellish it w/ flowers or candles.. so you don't end up spending a fortune..

Cutting your cake with a sword is a really cool idea. Our video guy showed us a couple that did this and it looked awesome on their video. DO IT! Who cares if your family thinks your weird. My family thinks i am so crazy right now. ha ha.

I saw this cool cake cutter and flutes that match at macy's. i guess i will put it on my bridal registry and hope one of my bridesmaids gets it for me! cross my fingers

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I might just end up w/ the RH's cutter.. every little thing is soo expensive!!

But if any of you ladies do come across a sword, please share.. most likely this idea of mine will not come to fruition.. but a girl can sure try..
