I know I am such a coppy cat...

...but I just finished a trial for Sonicstef's (and many other's) placecard candles and it was sooooooooooooooooo time consuming. I don't think I'm gonna make them. Does anyone have a template I could use that is in MS Word and not MS Publisher? And I went to Michael's and they sell the Vellum by THE SHEET!!!! there must be a better way to do this Thanks!!

paperaccess.com is the website for the place in the city where you can get packaged vellum.
I think it's about $20 for 20 sheets or something.

I know that Stef cut her strips with a curve in them so that they would sit flush against the votive.
It was really time consuming.

I cut mine as a narrower, straight band and just wrapped them around the center. There's a way of angling the strip and then overlapping the edges so that it sits 'somewhat' flush, but not all of mine were perfectly flat.

What I did after all the sheets were printed, was staple 3 or 4 sheets together at a time and then I used an exacto to slice all the strips. Faster then doing 1 page at a time.

I'd say that the whole process took a total of about 3 hours. And then another 2 hours to tie the ribbon around each one.

What are place card candles?

Don't know if this would be helpful, but I use it on my photopaper all the time:

You can get it at Staples or Office Max.

Actually paperaccess sells the vellum for $20 for about 100 sheets.

I plan on copying too Karina and what I thought of using was the label option in Word. Where you get 30 labels to a page. I would use that and then cut them out accordingly. I have a slicer at work which allows me to cut 10 pages at a time.

Does the vellum paper have an adhesive?

Ladies, I bought vellum last night in Staples.
50 sheets for $9.99!!! In a package.
I also bought double sided tape like Stef said.

I got lucky because I am having mine die cut at FH's job!!

All I have to do is print them & put them on!

I was told that you have to cut it exactly in the shape of the form of the candle (not easy) that s why I am grateful for the die cuttting!!!!!!

Oh Lord, What is die cut????

Jennbaby: DONT DIE CUT THEM!!!

I know this is going to sound crazy but to get a perfect fit, you need to cut them specifically for each candle. Before I made my own I thought I using one template would work BUT IT DIDN'T!!! I cut a bunch out to fit a template and then realized that each votive was a slightly different shape!! (at least that was the case with my candles)

Susan's method is definitely seems easier to do so you may want to go that route. And the little strip of ribbon definitely added a pretty design element - which I loved. But Im thinking when you add the time to tie the ribbon, it might be just as difficult. Susan: how long did it take to do all of them with your friends help? (PS: Im very proud of my pictures of them)

My method was to replicate the effect of frosty glass with names printed on them so they needed to completely cover the glass...but its a lot more time consuming. Luckily, I had my MOH help me with them and we finished them in one night. So even though it was a major pain, it was worth the few hours effort.

Re: I know I am such a coppy cat...

Took about 5 minutes for my girlfriend to print them all. One template.
She took 1/2 hour to slice the strips.
Wrapped all of them by myself one night (about 2 hours, maybe less)
Ribbon took about 2 hours. I tied them all. DH used his finger to hold the ribbon while I tied the bow. Then I had to trim all the edges.

P.S. I really like your pictures too ;)

Ok..so about the same time to do either. MOH and I did it together in one night which included printing, cutting, taping and boxing up.

Here's a stupid question.... what font did you use to print the names and table numbers???

I'm really thinking of doing this too! I'm just worried that I'm such a spaz and mess them up.

Karina, girl, you are scaring the life outta me over here! You are getting married a day before me and you are ALREADY doing a candle placecard trial!!! I must be WAYYYYYY behind

I plan on copying and doing the candle project as well, but I'm sooooo confused! I think I have to do a search on how it's done in the first place. I didn't think it was THAT complicated! UGH!

Terrier-
Curly has had her invitations for at least three months- so don't get too worried.

I am also thinking about making them! Do you happen to have the template saved so that you can share?
