I know I am such a coppy cat...

Original post by curly2003

...but I just finished a trial for Sonicstef's (and many other's) placecard candles and it was sooooooooooooooooo time consuming. I don't think I'm gonna make them. Does anyone have a template I could use that is in MS Word and not MS Publisher? And I went to Michael's and they sell the Vellum by THE SHEET!!!! there must be a better way to do this Thanks!!

I'm thinking either a dark peach or a silver.

Liz- I am using black font.

Jenn- I think I am the only one on earth that doesn't have MS Publisher. It's soooo frustrating

Her and Susans did it on those high techie programs I don't have. I'm trying on plain old MS Word and the sizes don't match up

I did it in Publisher, but I think that Stef used MS Word.

About the font.
It's proabably best to go with a dark color and something not to scripty. You want to make sure that when they're all lined up and lit, that they'll be easy to read.

You're probably right Susan. I was going to use the same font I'm doing for almost everything else - Edwardian, but I'll choose something simple for these
BTW, do you have the template?

I would like to know this too. Right now, I am clueless, but I will try a sample tonight and post a pic.

Re: I know I am such a coppy cat...

I didnt make an exact template - just an oversized one so I could fit several labels on an 8*11 sheet. It looked something like this:

__________________________

Mrs & Mr. X
Table 5

Mr & Mrs Y
Table 6

Mr & Mrs Z
Table 7

___________________________

Since each glass votive holder is a slightly different shape, there was no way to make a template that would work for each one. (even though they look the same, they are not)

So I made the oversize template and then cut each one to size.

As for the font, I did use something scripty to match everything else. Someone said it was hard to read at the wedding but I dont really see how that was a huge problem since they were all lined up alphabetically anyway. No matter what the font, they are going to be a little hard to read since they are lit and sort of small. Not sure what really happened, but lots of people realy loved them - even people I never expected to even notice something like a placecard.

They were too plain IMO using the block font so Im glad I used something more decorative. Susan used a pretty plain font but dressed up with ribbon so that took care of that problem.
