Ok, ladies. I really need your advice/help. FH and I just realized that we get engagement pics with our package. Needless to say, we want to take them soon, since our wedding is in Jan! We have the option of taking our pics on the following days: 9/25, 10/15, 10/22. Our photographer suggested the Oakdale Arboretum in Oakdale or Aboretum in Oyster Bay. Which is better? When do you think is a god time to take the pics of these dates? I have to give him a reply tomorrow so any advice is appreciated.

I would go with the one in Oakdale. I've seen pictures taken there and they were beautiful. You really can't go wrong with that place!

Thanks! Any ideas about the date? We want foliage but aren't sure when is peak in Long Island. I spend so much time trying to track the foliage in Vermont that I can't remember when is good in NY!

I would stick to late September or early October. Any later than that and you'll be too late and it will be COLD!!

I also would go with Oyster Bay. Both are beautiful but Oyster Bay has many structures, a blue tile pool, rose abors etc. Oakdale really just has beautiful trees and landscapes. I guess it's more of what you prefer.

Did you have to get a permit like you do for wedding photos? Did it cost you anything besides the parking fee?
Planting Fields is the most beatutiful place ever! We're going to take our wedding pictures there. The arboretum in Oakdale is very nice too, but there are more photo ops in PF.

I love the Arboretum in Oakdale. I think you should take it in 10/22...if you love the fall time. My profile pic was taken there last year 10/31...oh and it was 80 degrees!!!

i agree.. if anything it would be just a little chilly..not freezing..i love that time of year..plus the colorful leaves...LOVE IT!

Just got back our proofs (sorry not scanned yet) and we took pics in Oakdale...beautiful! So thrilled with them. Never been to Oyster Bay so I can't compare but we were very happy with Oakdale Arboretum pics.

Huge 'Fall Freak' here...on Long Island peak time is....Last week in October, First week in November...hence...our wedding date! It seriously IS an illness!!! Here's a link to back me up!.... NY Fall Foliage Peak!

We had our e-pics taken in the middle of October last year and the leaves were barely turning. FH is in horticulture and swears that because this Summer has been so dry, the leaves will turn a bit earlier this year. I think there should be some nice color by 10/22.
I love the Oakdale arboretum but I'm biased because that's where we went for our second date
