We're so confused as to what time to put on our inviation. Half the people we talk to say to put the exact time of the ceremony and half say to put 1/2 hour before!!! What did you put on your invite?

Re: Poll: time
We put the exact time. Just b/c we put ourselves in the situation, and we're always on time, and would be p1ssed off if we arrived and had to wait around for a half an hour.

Re: Poll: time
We are getting married at the hall, and they serve drinks/refreshments a 1/2 hour before the ceremony (and the harpist/violinist will be playing), so we put a 1/2 hour before.

I also put exact time. What if you are running late? I wouldn't want people aggrivated that they have been sitting around waiting.

Re: Poll: time
our hall told us to put 1/2 an hour earlier on the invites, so we did.
the guests were served drinks, I doubt anyone complained

We put the exact time, but for those that are always late, I am telling them to leave extra early.

I've seen plenty of brides hang out in the limos or in the vestibule of the church until everyone was ready.
People are going to be late regardless...sad, but true...but I was just not comfortable with having those who come early, sit around for an extra half hour on top of whatever time they do decide to show up....

if you are getting married at a hall and they serve drinks and it's like a prelude, then i would put a 1/2 hour before.
for a church, i wouldn't do that.

Re: Poll: time
We put the exact time, b/c there were no refreshments at the hall. However, there was crazy traffic that night, so some people missed the whole ceremny, and some came in late (although none of the latecomers made a disturbance, they stayed towards the back.

Re: Poll: time
We knew our guests, so we put 1/2 earlier on the ceremony and 1 hour earlier on the reception. And guess who got there 'on time' meaning 1/2 later and one hour later respectively? It worked wonderfully in our case!

Our ceremony is at the reception hall.

Re: Poll: time
We are having hospitality, so we put 11 am, (ceremony is at 11:30). this gives people time to show up and provides a snack , so they aren't dying during the ceremony. We hired someone to play the grand piano during that time and the synogogue will serve chocolate covered strawberries and champagne.

Our ceremony is at the reception hall.
Ultimately, you need to decide what is best for you.
our hall is a little obscure, no where near a main road. so I also felt better doing the 1/2 hour earlier b/c I was afraid people would get lost and be late.

Re: Poll: time
I wanted to put 15 minutes earlier for the ceremony, but there is a wedding right before mine. FI said that if they run late, our guests might be annoyed that they are standing around, so we put 3:15 on the invitations.

Re: Poll: time
We are having refreshments served so we are putting 1/2 hour earlier. Also, I know my fam won't get there on time so this gives everyone a little wiggle room. Those that arrive early can enjoy some refreshments, the indian/spanish ballads, and the beautiful gardens!
