We just got our duet proofs and really dont like most of them.. some are ok, but we think our guests got better shots than they did..
we're REALLY disappointed.. they didnt take some of the shots we specifically asked for or screwed them up (like of the hand with the rings, which they took of US, not of the rings.. and they didnt get the shot from the end of the aisle in back of the room (fish eye) when we were up front during the ceremony.. they didnt get a good one of our place card table, which were decorated tins with customized M&Ms.. they didnt get the M&Ms.. i belive we specifically asked for most of these on the preliminary sheet and then again in person)..
We had a few 'thank you' sign shots but we dont like any of them so now we can't use those for the cards..
this freaking blows.. im not sure what to do.. i may need to call Eric and see if they have other photos they didnt give us in the proofs box.. right now we'll have a hard time picking photos for an album

Re: stinky Duet proofs
Alberto and someone else (cant remember -- maybe Gio?)
They were both great to work with and their albums in the shop were nice.. and i saw lots of good work on here..
for some reason, i'm not sure that what we received reflects that

Ugh, I didn't want to hear that.
Alberto was my photographer also and I'm already disappointed because we took hardly any family shots or posed shots. We also didn't take pictures of me alone. My parents wanted table shots and I only saw 2 being taken.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
Email Chris and ask him for the CD of ALL the pics that were taken that day!
I did this...yes, there were some I completely understand why they did not print out, but for the $30.00 it cost me to get the CD, I got quite a few pics I am THRILLED WITH off the CD....

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I would call and ask if there were more shots they didn't submit.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
i just called and spoke to Eric and explained my disappointment and what I thought about the photos. He requested that I put everything into a letter in writing so he can speak with the photographers. I told him that I didnt think that would resolve anything since the day came and went and that was an internal issue, but that we'd like to see all the photos.
Several times I requested a CD with all the proofs and even expressed willingness to pay for the CD (its included in our contract after the album is printed) but he wouldnt agree to it.
So we'll see what happens after I send the letter.
eta: Eric is the owner, so i thought i'd get somewhere with that.. guess not.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
Thats CRAP (on their side)
I asked for the CD of all the proofs that were taken the day of the wedding (which is DIFFERENT than the one they give you (or were giving me) at the end when the album is done)
It was 30.00 and I had it a week later...
There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why you should NOT have those pics! They are yours!

Re: stinky Duet proofs
He said that they would give it to us after the album was printed and I informed him that we're unable to pick 60 photos for the album from this bunch.
I explained that we looked through the box twice last night since we were surprised and my wife commented that many of our guests took better photos.
I also explained that my wife dragged her gown up the blacktop driveway, which ruined the underside (the cleaners could not get the dirt out), so that we could get some 'end of night' leaving shots and those arent even in the proofs box.
I also told him that my wife was disappointed that we dont even have a 'formal' photo of the two of us to blow up and frame.
I agreed to put something in writing, but based on his response im not sure it will accomplish anything. I expect that he's going to respond with excuses and that's not enabling us to see whatever it is that we havent seen.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
This is what they told me:
There are two CDs...
the one you get at the end of the process is ALL of the proofs they printed for you...called the EDITED CD...
THEN there is another, that I dont think they tell people about-but if you reques it, like I did, they will give it to you, for $30.00.
It is the CD (unedited) of EVERY single shot they took that day- This CD I was told, is a READ ONLY CD, which means you would NOT be able to print any out yourself, but if you want something off it of-then you can tell them and they will add it for you (for a charge of course)
It seems like they are giving you and some others the run around, and I dont know why-I had NO problems getting this...actually I didnt even know it exsisted until SUE mentioned it to me.They suggested I order this...

OMG, I would write the letter and check your contract. If they refused to give you all the pictures to see, then you may have to take legal action

Re: stinky Duet proofs
I am sorry this happened to you. I would wait a few days though, maybe a week, and then look at your proofs again. There are many people, who on he first look through, were disappointed with their proofs, but then when they looked at them again, they found many that they were happy with.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
unfortunately it has been 7 weeks and will take 2-3 more just to get our 'thank yous' back once we select the photo for them..
we'll need to look at them again, but sooner than a week.. this is the precise reason we went through them TWICE last night (which took quite some time in itself)
in retrospect i wish i hadnt agreed to any printing (albums, thank you cards, large photos, parent albums, or anything else) with duet, as i'd have been better off creating them myself in photoshop and printing them online.. that wouldve avoided the whole problem with geting the photos timely.. now i have to deal with this headache

Re: stinky Duet proofs
can I ask, besides the few that you asked for that are missing, what about the rest of them? what specifically are you disappointed with? Can you post some? Sometimes we are our own worst critic.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
im not saying there arent 'some' that arent bad.. im just saying that the amount of crappy shots in proportion to the total is pretty disappointing... and that i dont think we have enough good ones for the album based on what we received in the proofs box..

Another thing I can identify with with Alberto..they made me step in mud before the ceremony for bridal party pictures and I didn't noticed until right before that my gown was muddy on the bottom.
another thing that bugged me is that we wasted too much time standing around before the ceremony and not enough time taking pictures. Both our families were upset about that.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
I'm sorry that you don't love your proofs. I had the same team and I was very happy with my proofs.
I agree with the pp who said that maybe you need to put them away and then take them back out and look again, maybe you will find some pics you like. I keep finding photos I really like now that I didn't even realize that I had.

I also realized we didn't get some family shots I wanted, but that was kind of my fault b/c how are they supposed to know who my extended family is? DH's family made a point of asking them to take a photo of all of them.
Also, I NEVER saw them take any table photos and they got every last one.

Re: stinky Duet proofs
Well in my case all the family was waiting around and we just plain ran out of time because we spent so much time just standing around. I kept suggesting different photos but it had to be rushed so we never did get a shot of his and my family combined.
I wish they were that stealthy with the table shots but the other tables just weren't done.
I'm not going to get worked up until I see the proofs but I just feel like a lot of pictures weren't taken.
