I need some help from you 07'ers - Tough Bridal Party situation

Hi Girls,

An 06'er here...For those of you who had their weddings-many congrats. For the upcoming weddings, good luck!

I do have a problem....and I need help! My cousin who is 1 year younger than me is engaged and asked me to be in her bridal party for her May 08 wedding. I didn't have her in my BP, but she asked me, so I accepted. She made it sound like we were going to shop for so many dresses, but when it came down to it, she basically in not so many words said this 1 dress was the dress and that was it. It was form-fitting [which I have no problem with] but it clinged all over [I'm not hevay but curvy, and short] so I think it would look better on someone that was 5'9 or 5'11 and a TWIG!, not for someone who is short & curvy. Additionally, it WAS halter but not the thicker halter strap which I feel more comofrtable in and bustier. The wost part is that - starting near the boob area, and going down to the stomach there are HOLES in the dress, bare holes, in which their putting 1 material of sheer in it, which will basically do nothing. I cannot wear a strapless bra [I always feel more comftorable with a bra than without]. So I just told her that I didn;t think she needed to rush into it and buy it 9 1/2 months before her wedding and she should look around more especially in the Fall when new styles for Spring come out. Needless to say, she said 'well I like it' with her MOH agreeing.
Then, we walk over to my car, she says hello to my DH who is waiting in the car for me, and she said to him that I was uncomfotorable in the dress & didn't like it. So saying that, she knew about my discomfort and self-consiousness and she just ignored it.
Then the following day she called me and said she bought all 4 dresses and that was it. I became a bit annoyed with her over the phone because I firmly believe that she should have brought all the girls down there to try on different styles of dresses and even so - if she would have asked me at least once- 'do u feel comfortable in this?' and also told me even if it was the dress, and thats it, she didn't have to buy it, now she expects the $ asap. How does she know that I wasn't using a credit card where I wouldn't have to worry about paying for it for 7 weeks? I mean, she knew my circumstances because I was out of work for a while, just got back, and money was tight.....I was overall very annoyed with her and I feel very uncomfortable in the dress & I really do not want to wear it!
I know when it came down o my wedding, I brought all my girls down their and made sure they felt comfortable in it, and I even had the change the skirts a couple times, but their comfort was most important to me!]

I REALLY need you're girls help!
Furthermore, this is the dress. Lastly, I don't think it's AT ALL appropriate for a wedding. It's not even considered a bridesmaids dress.

Wow....that dress is pretty bad. You should've told her you wouldn't wear it....this way you could've backed out (or been kicked out) before she bought the dresses(which she shouldn't have done)

I would drop out...even if you have to pay for the dress...which I would fight.

I agree.......and I'm sorry if this dress is a future brides BM dress on this board, but in my opinion, this is NOT a BM dress. TOO much is showing and it is NOT a flattering dress.

I don't know what the best decision is for you other than to talk to her and be COMPLETELY honest with her. I personally would not wear that dress.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I really hope she acknowledges that how you feel in this dress should mean SOMETHING.....and it's really affecting you........

OK first off that dress is RIDICULOUS.
And not in a good way. Apologies to the e-bay lady modeling it.
I say drop out, she's being unreasonable. And this is the proverbial 'canary in the coal mine' - the first of 9 months of torture. Wish Bridezilla well, but just say you'll have to back out for personal reasons. Pay for the dress. Then sell it on ebay.
(Sorry to be humorous, but all signs point to EXIT.)

I'm so in shock right now that someone would use that as their BM dresses. I would definetly back out if that is her final say. I'd be very honest and tell her how uncomfortable you felt in it She should be able to return it. Was it bought from a bridal salon?

OMG.. that dress was made for a hooker's wedding.. No offense.. what is she THINKING??
I can understand why you would be uncomfortable in that dress.. to be honest, if you don't need to be in this wedding, would it kill you not to be? It's just a thought... Hope it works out for you..

You should not have to feel uncomfortable. Normally if the dress was nice for all body types I would say suck it up, but in the case of that dress it is not right she just bought the dresses. I hate to say it but tell her how uncomfortable you were and politely drop out.

i would just tell her that ur shocked she would want everyone looking at the bridal party instead of her. Tell her all the girls are gonna get push up bras so ur boobs are completely hanging out and u were also hinking about cutting the lenght so ur butt cheeks show too.. might as well. hahaha that is so not appropriate and have no idea wat she is thinking!!!

Thank you girls SO MUCH!

I doubt any of the girls have this dress here on LIW. We're all classy brides to be & former brides.

The dress at Davids bridal was originally $200 reduced to $100 and even more reduced, to either $60 or $65. I'll frikken GIVE her the $$ for it, as long as I don't have to wear it!

I really don't know how to come out & tell her tho besides say that I'm uncomtorable and she KNEW that before she bought it! And then she wonders why people are calling her 'bridezilla' .

First of all the dress is hideous!!! It doesn't really look like a dress for BM to wear it looks more like a dress that a singer in a cheesy wedding band would wear. Seriously, I would sit her down and tell her that you have to back out for personal reasons and tell her that you would still like to play a part in the wedding, maybe a reading or something. Good Luck!

Seriously, that is SOOOOOOOOO not sexy its not even funny. Listen if the dress is marked down to $65.... there's a reason.
Im all for keeping the bride happy, but this is BEYOND ok. Whats next, mandatory hooker makeup? I cannot be more serious, get out now, it will not end with this dress. Why not get her on these boards so she can see with her own eyes what a TRAGIC dress this is?

Unless the wedding is at a strip club...no way in heck should this be considered appropriate for a wedding...oh my lord! I'm behind you 1000%!
