My Daddy*short update on page 2*

So, it turns out that during our wedding, my dad was having a heart attack. He knew it, but didn't want to 'ruin or miss the day' and acted as if he was all fine and dandy.
That's my dad, it's what he does.

Well, I didn't find out about any of this until I got HOME from the HONEYMOON.
I understood their reasoning...but JEEZ! Ya, know?

Anyway, he's doing okay, he had several arteries that were blocked like 100% and they did an angioplasty and put stints in.

I thought that was the end of it. Apparently not.

He's in the hospital today having more work done, and while I'm pretty sure it's a 'standard' angioplasty that they are doing, I am always out of the loop when it comes to my parents' health issues.

My dad is not young, and while I'm sure he'll be fine, I'm quite nervous and worried about him.

I'm used to my mom being sick, she's been 'sick' since I was 5. But my dad... he's our rock. and the fact that there is something wrong with him, scares me and is totally messing with my head.

I'm sorry this is so long, but I can't talk to anyone in my family about this, b/c they just tell me I need to be strong so my mom and dad don't know I'm upset, plus a few of them have point blank told me that it's MY fault b/c the wedding caused the heart attack. I guess I just needed a place to let these feelings out.

Thank you for listening, and if you could keep him in your thoughts/prayers today, I'd really appreciate it.

So sorry about your dad.. I think it's dispicable that people would say it's your fault b/c of the wedding!! How dare they!!!

He is in my prayers!!!

I'm so sorry!!

Your wedding did not cause his heart attack- I hope you know that!

I can't tell you not to worry, because honestly, who wouldn't worry about their Daddy!

Just know that we're here and that modern medicine has come a long away! I'm sure everything will be fine. If your dad was able to be at the wedding and enjoy it, he is still strong and with the proper medical care can recover just fine!

Keeping you and your family in my prayers!!!

Re: My Daddy

Ladies thank you so much

In my head, I know it's not my fault. But in my heart...

My mom had a heart attack 2 weeks before the wedding, and my dad had a heart attack the day of the wedding...

I can't help but feel guilty. I felt guilty before anyone SAID anything, so once it was said out loud... well, i don't think I'll ever really feel like it's not my fault.

Re: My Daddy

How could someone be so callous as to say its your fault!! Of course it isn't and you should be able to let your feelings out about how this is affecting you. If you can't do it at home then let it out here. I'm so sorry to hear this. You and your family are in my prayers

Don't worry, Kerri. My dad JUST went through a similar procedure. He's going to be 100% soon!

Thanks Heather! It's always good to hear from people who've 'been there' Like I said, I know how this goes, my mom had it done, and my dad has had it done in the past as well as a month ago... and I know that it's done 'out patient' so he can most likely come home today...

I just... I can't handle my dad not being 100% at all times. It's a lot of pressure for him I'm sure... but when I was little I could handle my mom being as sick as she is, b/c I knew that Daddy would ALWAYS be there... and the older we both get... the more I realize...

okay enough of this.
someone post a controversial topic to distract me. Heather, where's the QoD?
