***ATTN Giorgio's Brides*** Update at the TOP

Hey girls. I just got off the phone with George Jr. from Giorgio's. He asked me to let you all know that he is putting the original chairs back in the ballroom. (The white and black chairs.) He would like to know your thoughts, concerns, and opinions. Please post your comments here and I will let him know what everyone thinks.

I haven't seen the new chairs in person... I wish I could have gone to the showcase, but living abroad makes that difficult. So my answer to the poll is (d) I'm withholding judgement until I've seen the new ones, but I know I liked the old chairs.

Didn't someone post that the old chairs were being replaced because they've gotten a bit beat up with time? Are they being restored, or has their current state been deemed acceptable? Any idea how long the white chairs will be back in circulation -- is this a moot discussion for me if my wedding isn't until May 2012?

I have not seen the new chairs in person in the room, BUT I know one of the things I did not like at other RHs I looked at was the chivari chairs. Obviously I did not just book at Giorgio's because I loved their chairs, the place as a whole has the ambiance we wanted for our wedding, but I just think the old chairs look sooo elegant in all the pictures I see at events there. I love the neutral palate that the room as a whole has- it's beautifully decorated, but in a manner that allows you to take the room and make it your own for your reception and accentuate a certain color or feature.

Also, I know the room as a whole does have alot of gold tones to it (the drapes, new carpet, the chandeliers, the painted ceilings around the chandeliers, etc), but for some reason to me the gold chairs stick out like a sore thumb.

Another thought- alot of the chivari chairs I have sat in at other RHs and weddings tend to be much more flimsy than the old chairs Giorgio's had. Just putting a pocket book or suit jacket on the back is enough to make them tip sometimes, and I find the legs can feel 'loose' or wobbly (I'm sure that some of that is also due to the age of those particular chairs as well and perhaps they had not been maintained properly).

But, my vote would DEFINITELY be to keep the old chairs if their is a way to clean them up, recover them or something.

I totally agree. I actually really like the new chairs. But it doesn't matter either way to me. I love them both. But I feel like they should fix up the old chairs. I thought that was the reason they were changing them? I don't know. I'll ask him when I call this week.

I wasnt a fan of the new chairs at all When I was at the showcase I saw someone had a pocketbook on the back og the chair and when they got up it fell
I really was so disappointed to hear that they had changed the chairs

I loved, loved, loved the old white chairs. They aren't the reason I booked, but the certainly caught my eye when we went to look at the RH. The old chairs set Giorgio's apart from the other places, and I was disappointed that they decided to change the chairs. I was starting to get used to the idea, as the chairs would not ruin my day and everything still would be perfect. Infact, I was going to post a question about the chairs and how George Jr. had them posted with fabric on FB.


Anywhooo - I think that as long as the old chairs are in presentable condition (since George Jr. wouldn't allow anything else) I want them back. I the old chairs

I agree with SJR... I have not seen the new chairs yet so its hard for me to have an opinion, BUT i'm not the biggest fan of Chivari chairs and I really liked ours, no reason for chair covers or anything.

But if they look dingy then maybe it would be better to have new chairs, I hope they're working on cleaning them up!

do we have to use the table numbers that they provide?

where do you girls get all of this info? I have not heard about any of this. If I wasn't on this site I wouldn't have known about the carpet or chairs changing, the bathroom baskets, the table numbers.....

do you speak to someone at Giorgio's often? I booked at the end of January and haven't talked to anyone since. None of the changes bother me so I am not worried about it, but maybe I should be asking more questions!!
