I'm just going to use the dixie cups I have in the bathroom. At least the dixie cups come in a fancy holder you can keep next to the sink...

Um.... er..... ahem I have used those. (techincally, I used the Instead brand) And they work. And you can have sexy times with your period and no one is the wiser.
I will say though, getting them out is tricky.

One of my roommates in college used the Instead brand. I thought the idea was strange but she seemed to like them.
But look at the picture of these, they look pointy!!

Re: alternative to feminine products
ok, here is the Instead cup. You fold it in half, push it in & then it opens up inside like a tent. The cup part is like a ziploc bag. Does not feel pointy at all. It sits HIGH up on your cervix, so male entry is not affected. It can also stay in for 12+hours so so risk of TSS.
To get it out is tricky tough, You kind o fhave to hook your finger around the rim & PULL. There is a chance of spilling, which I have done.
from their website: Wearing INSTEAD® Softcup® during your period, you and your partner can enjoy 'clean sex'and he won't even feel it's there! (Note: the INSTEAD® Softcup® is NOT a contraceptive!)

I actually think it sounds gross but also like something I would consider for certain situations. Like if I had a long flight for example, I would totally use one.

Re: alternative to feminine products
i had a friend that used to use that--because she was going 'green' and didn't want to use sanitary products that you throw out. with that you re-use and wash it. i couldn't do it--but some people are so 'green' conscious these days. i can't give up that...sorry people!

yuuuuuuup, when you go to pull it out, you can spill. You would also be SHOCKED at how much can pool up in there. After years of using tampons, I never realized how much we actually bleed. No wonder we're grumpy.
