an 'after' wedding gift question...

Back story:

Our friends eldest daughter got married recently - (they basically eloped out of the country and didn't invite the parents due to the cost of the families flying over).

Her parents are now having a 'dinner' in their honor at a restaurant and we're going. Keep in mind - we're very friendly with the parents but neither of us have met this daughter.

I asked DH what to do about a gift for them... We'll definately give cash, but how much.

DH thinks we should give to the daughter what her parents gave to us - $400.

I was thinking more along the lines of $200.
DH thinks I'm being cheap...but honestly, I never met the girl!

WWYD?

200 should be more than enough.

Re: an 'after' wedding gift question...

Why dont you just meet your DH in the middle and give $300. I do think 200 is a great gift as well.
