I'd like to stay home for the first year and then i might go back to work but part time only and work as close to home as possible.

Re: anyone plan on being a stay at home mom?

I don't see being able to have the lifestyle that we want on just one salary.
I'd love to stay home for a few months, but I think I would LOSE MY MIND if I did it permanently.
A lot of my friends were stay at home Moms, and for some of them it was great....others really resented it in the end.
We'll see what happens when the time comes; one never really knows how they will feel until they're in the situation.
This is how i feel whole heartedly

Re: anyone plan on being a stay at home mom?
I am going to be a wahm (work at home mom). I chose my career: A. because I like it and B. because it gives me the option to work from home. I have already helped family out by watching their kids while I work and now it is time to care for my own. I love the idea that my kids will not have to go to day care. Not that there is anything wrong with daycare. I just don't want it for my family. And I am lucky enough to have options. My mom stayed home with us kids part time till I went to kidergarten and it almost drove her mad. She is a nurse and while she loves her kids she also loves taking care of people in need also. When the last kid (my sister was an oopsie) came along it was a different story. Mom had re-established her career and didn't want to give it up again. My sister first went to grandma's then we had had close friend watch her. Finally dad just moved his office into the home and became a work from home dad. That is what I will be doing (well except I will be a mom not a dad ). I can have my career and be there to change every diaper, wipe every runny nose and see all the babies firsts.

I work from home and so I am a SAHM, I love it, I take my oldest to school, I'm able to work things around my schedule and do other Mommy related things. If you can work it financially hey why not? I still manage to have a life outside my DH and kids. It just depends on the type of person you are. I knew off the bat that if I had kids I wouldnt trust them to anyone else unless they were family. I wasnt looking to put them in day-care or have a Nanny... This in no way is bad mouthing Mom's who return to work. You got to do what you have to. We all make choices mine was to be a SAHM and I'm loving it!
