Christmas bonus

Just curious...with the economy the way it is I heard on the radio that a lot of comanys are either cutting down or not giving christmas bonuses at all...How many of you know if you are getting one this year or none at all?

Well I am obviously not getting one this year lol. But it was great getting one, for christmas it was easy bc I would just use my christmas bonus for all the gifts and didnt have to take out of my salary. BUT for the first time DH gets a bonus this year, bc at his company only management and certain ppl get it and with his promotion this year he gets it. Its 10% of his salary so he is happy about that

they are not giving us bonuses. I can live without it, it wasn't too much anyway.

DH is getting his though so I can't complain.

This is actually the first year they have given out bonuses, one weeks salary which is nice since it was unexpected. DH gets the same thing.

I work for a large Japanese firm and have never gotten a bonus in all the years I have worked here.
Yet, we hear every year how successful we all were in attaining the financial goals of the company, yadda, yadda, yadda, yet they never share the wealth.
Just once it would be nice to be appreciated above what my usual salary is.
The kicker is, my company wants us to do more, be more productive. Where's the incentive ?

We get our bonuses in Feb/March. Not sure what will happen. I work for a big bank and we just announced layoffs. Hmmm.

I used to when I was in a different field 2 years ago. I miss it so much. It just made Christmas shopping much easier. DH doesnt get one either since he's a cop.

We are sopposed to be getting one... although it has not been mentioned to us personally.. we heard that it is going to be skipped this year.

nope...companys being reaal cheap although they made a decent profit this year. they cut our usual restaurant x-mas party to making us have a potluck at someones house. laaaame.

supposedly the company gives them but not till january or february. I heard its usually 20% of your salary, but I wont be surprised if its less this year.

Also, when i was a temp here , the guys I worked for gave money as a gift, Im assuming it'll be the same this year.

I'm getting one. we are still super busy, and as long as I make money for the company I'll get a bonus. No idea if it will be less, but i doubt it... we won't feel the effects (if we do at all) of the recession until 2009.

We usually get a bonus plus a 3% raise. A few years ago when business was bad, we all got a smaller bonus and no raise.

This year with the recession, I'm honestly just happy to still have my job. We've moved to NJ and my commute is more than twice as long each way (), but there are so many others that don't have a job, so I appreciate still being employed!!!

That said, I would still LOOOOOVE to get a bonus since Christmas presents pretty much wiped us out and it would be nice to be able to pay for that and pay some credit card debt!

The potluck is at someone's house??? They couldn't even do it in the office and close a little early one day? WOW.

Very interesting. So even with the economy the way it is..its still pretty balanced. Im not sure if Im getting one..this is the first xmas at my current job

Last year my bonus was 15% of my total salary.

This year, I'm getting a big fat nothing.

BUT - I work for in the finance department for one of the Company's that got 'bailed out'

Its kind of rough for those of us that didn't do anything wrong - and busted our butts all year (I'm in the office working today after working all night on Friday until like 6am Saturday morning - I worked something like 75 hours this week). . .the guys who made the bad trades and decisions are still getting bonuses because they are the 'talent' of the Company.

Thats unfair. Im sorry! Are these the same guys that took a vacation after the bailout? Are you an assistant? Maybe they will give you a nice gift?

Last year I got a HUGE bonus but I sincerely doubt this year is even going to be a fraction of what I got last year...kinda succks actually, but I'm glad I got it last year when I needed it more!
