Cooking Classes on L.I.?
Anyone know of any in Nassau or not too far out in Suffolk? I am looking to give it as a gift to my sister for her help with my wedding. She LOVES to cook and I am TERRIBLE (I mean TERRIBLE - I smoked out the kitchen trying to make microwave popcorn last week) so I thought it would be something fun we could do together. Anyone ever done this before? If so, how was it and how do I sign up?Thanks!

The viking store and sur la table
ditto.
I took a Thai cooking class at Viking and really enjoyed it. You cook in groups and then everyone sits down to eat together in the end. You can register for and/or view the class offerings through their web site. I don't know the site address off the top of my head, but you should be able to google it. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

My brother took some cooking classes at Sur La Table and loved them.

Wow I just checked out both of these websites and they sound amazing. Exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much everyone.Hey, do they serve wine at these things? If not, can I bring my own?... When I cook, it always seems to taste better when I am a little tipsy by the time I eat it... ; ).

A La Carte is the place in Lynbrook -- I took a class there and they served us wine. I think the classes run $70-$85 but they sometimes have discounts. It was a lot of fun!!Great gift idea - my mom got my sister that for her birthday.

I only went to Viking because it is closer and I also wanted to take their Thai class. The schedule worked better there. I loved the class and will probably take another one with friends after the holidays are over.
I have only shopped there. I love the store.
When choosing a class for, just make sure it's a 'hands-on' one. (Most of them are.) Sometimes the classes are demonstrations.
