Re: daycare

I might be lucky enough to have mil or dhs aunt watch the kid. She would have to move back from dr but I have a feeling she will do that in a heartbeat.

Re: daycare

I've had my son in daycare since he was 6 weeks old. I had no choice at first, but he loves it now and it's great for him to have a routine every day. He starts kindergarten this year so my paycheck is going to be very thankful.

Re: daycare

MIL watches DH's nephew and niece (2 days each kid) ... i would rather not have her take care of DH and my future-baby (not regularly at least) though.

we'll probably do a daycare or something

who knows - we'll worry about it when i'm preggo (which won't be anytime soon cause we're not TTC)

Re: daycare

Well it depends on when we have them. Right now, my grandmother could watch them during the day and she would definitely want to. But, she's a little bit older and I don't know how long she'd be ABLE to. Right now, she's firing on all cylinders, but she's slowing down and a year or two from now? Who knows. At that point, we'd have to have a nanny or daycare of some sort.

Re: daycare

we're hoping we'll be able to be at the point where I'll be able to stay home for the first 6 months. Then, i'm most likely putting he/she in daycare. They learn to socialize, and usually advance in crawling/walking/talking being around other children their age. I used to be a lead infant room teacher for tutor time, so this is what ive noticed in my years working.

Re: daycare

hopefully my mom

or a nanny? idk... one of my neighbors has a nanny for her twin girls (5 months)

she pays $600 a week and the lady makes dinner for her and her husband!!!!

she prefers that over day care (teh girls were always getting sick and it's abt the same price)

Re: daycare

Luckily my mom and her BF live downstairs (it's one of the few upsides to my living arrangement), so they'll be able to help a lot. Also, MIL doesn't work and I'm sure she'd be thrilled to babysit.

Re: daycare

My grandma helped raise my brother and I while both of my parents worked and traveled a lot (for work). I would absolutely love if my kid's were lucky enough to have the same experience! My mom and I have already had very preliminary chats and that is the gameplan so far!

Re: daycare

I'm expecting that we'll have one of our mothers one or two days a week and a nanny the rest of the week. That's at least our game plan right now.

My mom actually runs a daycare so it will work out perfectly for us! (We would pay her of course)

Re: daycare

this is what's keeping me up at night!!

we need someone/something very flexible - DH's schedule is different every week. he may be off as many as 4 weekdays or as few as 2. weekends obv aren't an issue, as I'm off.

so finding someone who will watch our kid sometimes 1 day a week, sometimes 3 days, is a very overwhelming task. and which days it is changes week to week. i have a feeling that no daycare is going to work with that.

we do have DH's schedule for the entire coming year (it is released in like september) so that hopefully will help a little.... ugh.

Re: daycare

I wish we had family here in Chicago that would watch our future baby...but there's no one! We'd have to put the baby in daycare.

Re: daycare

I'm pretty sure my Mom is eagerly awaiting the day that she gets to watch my children all the time lolol

We're also at least four years away from having a baby though, so maybe by then I could work part-time and stay home with them a couple of days.

Re: daycare

I have so many freelance clients, I am hoping to work part time, and keep my freelance clients. My mom watches my nieces, so hopefully she will watch my kids.

Re: daycare

DH and I started talking about it and we're going to look to see if we can find a day care that is open late since we both commute. If not we'll get a nanny to come to the house. DH kind of wants me to be a stay at home mom but I'm not ready to quit my job... maybe with baby #2 or when they start going to school so I can be class mom and chaperone field trips
