Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

We had 4 cancel the Wed before the wedding..excuse was they didn't feel well!! All 4 of them! I think not! Then we had 3 no shows (2 called and were stuck in an ice storm, 1 was a wife of someone who did come)..It happens to everyone and there is nothing you can do to prevent it!

Don't let it get you mad...just think of all the people that will be there

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

why are people so rude? I would never do this to someone so I don't get it?

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

Do you want to know the worst part Jenn. One of the no shows was a friend I went to high school and college with and not only did she not show, she didn't call and after my mom died she didn't call or show up at the wake or the funeral!!! Needless to say we are no longer friends

can we say B I T C H!!!!!

To be honest I didn't realize I had no shows till after we got home. The leftover place cards were put in a bag with some of our stuff.

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

We had a few no shows. A couple of people were sick and couldn't come but one had a fight with his girlfriend (lame excuse) and has never called us to apologize. Some of the people who never showed never sent a card or anything either.

Oh yes. A HUGE point of my stress, to this day. My boss's mother got a relaspe of cancer and he had to fly out (totally understandable excuse) BUT we also had one of Scott's cousin e-mail us the day before that 'they just cannot make it' and another of his cousins just not show up! Then I had my cousin's wife just not show up with him

Now his last-minute cancel cousin is getting married and I refuse to go. I told Scott there is NO way I will ever attend anything for those 2 cousins. They never sent a card or even called us! I don't like rude people!

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

2 no shows on the day of our wedding. No gift, no card, no note, NOTHING! We sent our new address and contact details announcement to this couple and I wrote 'We were hoping to see you on our wedding day' to see what kind of reaction. We later got a Christmas card and said 'My card broke down the day before, it needed a new XX and XXX which took two days to get and fixed.' Whatever, it took 4 months for one sentence out of them???

Rude, selfish and rude! I think that if anyone has any ediquette these days guests should call to cancel if they have any decency in their hearts. IMHO, otherwise it's a complete waste of money, time to pay for no shows and empty seats.

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

OMG these stories are horrible!

I can see, like michele said, if someone has a good excuse, or is really sick , but to not show or to cancel for no reason?

This lady told my BM she has a communion, fine, but I just wished she would have told me herself.

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

What's more than no shows, is no phone calls, no e-mail, no fax, no communication of any form is indirect cancellation through a third person as a referre. IMHO, just down right RUDE!!! Why can't this person contact you (the bride) directly? You are the one handling the guest list and seating arrangements not a BM. That's NOT a BM's responsbility to be a messenger!

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

Jen, that is why I did not give my place card chocolate bars to be made until the last minute. It happens to the best of us. I don't think some people intentionally cancel, the decent thing to do was to tell you personally tho'

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

I had two cancellations and four no shows the day of the wedding. I ended up paying for six extra heads that did not attend. There is really nothing you can do about it and it's not worth getting stressed over.

Since we payed for the six people we were sent home with six entrees. At two in the morning after our wedding my DH and mother were starving and began to pick at the food!

Yes. I had cancellations and no shows. The cancellations I was OK with becuase the reason was valid. On guests mother died and another's wife was very ill with cancer and he called us a few weeks in advance.

The no shows were ridiculous. They were people I did not want to invite in the first place!!

I had two cancellations - one was sick, and the other her father went into the hospital.

I also had two no-shows, no excuse, no call, nothing.

I had 4 no shows! One was a couple who did send a card the other 2 were guests of DH's 2 cousins - how anoying is that!

Crisco, I know what you mean, the forced invited guest b/c of hubby or mom, then they do not show up, the nerve.

Re: Did anyone get cancellations?

yep- I didn't do my place cards and stuff until the last minute either. I had to give my hall a final number and seating chart a week before. I gave them a number 2-3 people lower and it wound up being correct with cancel's and add's in the last week! Then the day before, I gave the hall a new seating chart and brought my place cards. For me the excuses were pretty valid. (A woman had a miscarriage and another pregnant guest decided it was too close to chance - it was over a month before her due date and her hubby was an usher but we know the are nervous nellies- we also had a couple respond yes the week before).

The day of we had 2 no shows. They were both guests of single friends. We didn't care too much because both friends were generous in their gifts. One annoyed us a little more because DH called this guy like 3 times (no exaggeration) to make sure he was bringing a date and he wound up not. He assured us yes and we could have added another couple to that table that made a little more sense.
