Do you agree Marriage is Hard

Original post by dimples092907

My one year anniversary is coming up and I'm thinking back at all the people that said 'the first year is the hardest'. We had some tough times since we didn't live together, but worked through them.

Any thoughts about having to 'work at your marriage'?

Re: Do you agree Marriage is Hard

We've been married less than a month and we lived together for about 9 months before the wedding..but that was at my parents house, so this is different.

So far, everything is great. We've adjusted pretty well to sharing household chores..I'm lucky that DH loves to cook and really doesn't mind cleaning at all. He helps out A LOT.

I'm not working right now and he is..so the money thing is weird. We used to make about the same amount and now I just feel like a loser, because umemployment is NOT the same amount. But he keeps telling me, its OUR money now.

Who knows what will happen as time goes on, but so far we've been learning a few new things about each other and really working together and compromising on everything.

You have to be realistic when you go into a marriage. If you fought a lot before the marriage, you probably will when you get married. We only started having arguments when the wedding stress (money, time, etc) got to us. But we really don't fight much.

The only thing that is 'work' is training yourself to not just think about yourself in every situation but think and act as a team, the love part is easy though!
