I'm afraid this discussion could get ugly...but maybe we can say how we feel via a poll?

I'm 100% pro life, so no, I'm not for allowing babies to be killed here or anywhere. I can't believe that now not only are we promoting worldwide abortion but we, as taxpayers, are being forced to fund the atrocity. Obama pledged during his campaign that he wanted to 'reduce the number of abortions.' In scrapping the Mexico City policy....it is clear that that was a lie. I think its easy to talk *around* abortion without getting at the real issue...the bottom line is abortion kills a child, which is just heartbreaking to me. Beyond that, I think its important to understand how detrimental an abortion can be to women.
And Obama is pro-choice and pushing abortion rights for women's health?? Its really important to read the research. And this is just a FEW stats.
1) The risk of breast cancer nearly doubles after one abortion and increases even more with two or more abortions.
2) Women who have had abortions are more likely to give birth to chil- dren with disabilities.
3) Post-abortive women are likely to have worse health overall than other women.
4) One in five women who have had abortions will suffer from post- traumatic stress disorder — the illness most commonly linked with soldiers returning from the battlefront.
5) As many as 60 percent of women who have had abortions think about suicide. (Another study of more than 173,000 American women who had abortions or carried to term found that, during the eight years after the pregnancy ended, women who aborted had a 154% higher risk of suicide than women who carried to term. And teen girls are 10 times more likely to attempt suicide if they have had an abortion in the last six months than girls who have not had an abortion, and 2-4 times more likely to commit suicide after abortion compared to adult women- sources for these 2 studies here ).
6) Women who abort are twice as likely to become heavy smokers.
7) Abortion is linked with a two-fold increased risk of alcohol abuse among women.
8) Abortion is linked to subsequent drug abuse.
9) Women who abort are more likely to suffer from eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
10) Abortion is linked with increased depression and vio- lent behavior — factors which are closely associated with child abuse.
And just think, statistics show that nearly 1/3 of the current generation has been aborted. That is just shocking. Everyone is looking to Obama for hope, but I think Martin Luther King Jr's niece put it so perfectly. 'How can the 'Dream' survive if we murder the children?'- Alveda King
Can you fathom how forcing Americans to fund the killing of innocent children, now overseas too, will 'bring us together'?? How can anyone say 'Great! It's exactly what we need'??
It's just really sad.
I am pro-choice but don't know if I'd ever be able to deal with it. BUT you have to think of women that were raped...children that are 12 years old. Married women are raped. It's disgusting, but this is what happens. It happens here in the US.

look to the sources, the studies and who conducted. not the websites. obviously this info wont be publicized on pro choice websites.
honestly i would go thru those sources a little bit. i was just looking up one...#8 --Abortion is Linked to subsequent drug use.
it sites this source: J Pediatrics. 1987 Oct;111(4):571-8.Links Perinatal cocaine and methamphetamine exposure: maternal and neonatal correlates.
i just looked up that article--and i honestly do not see anywhere in this particular 'source' that discusses this topic they point to. This study was on groups of mother/infants that were exposed to drugs--it is not about whether these mothers had abortions previous. Here is a link to the exact part of the survey this 'fact' is trying to say matches #8... Source
This is why I am not a fan of sources from any type of 'pro life' or 'pro choice' site--i prefer independent surveys and analysis. this is just the first one i picked--if i examined more of these i'm sure we'd find out that there is more of a stretch than fact.

I am pro-choice and pro-Obama ( ), however, I do not like the idea of this.. I don't think sending money to other countries for this is not going to help US right now. I think education on safe sex, maybe - but this is something that we could wait on,, and use that money for things in our own nation right now.
I agree! Save this money for the US and tighten immigration! My family emigrated here and did it the right way and THEY are paying

you read and linked an abstract, not the article. i dont know what the rest of the article says. but feel free to do your own research on the links between abortion and drug abuse. i dont think you will come up empty handed.

i'm sure there is a chance that there are other studies about this issue--and i simply looked up the article and that is what came up and is listed as the source from the pamphlet. if you have a link to the entire article that shows what they are showing, then by all means...i'd like to read it.
my point is that the these 'facts' may not necessarily be reflective of where they are coming from. there is room for interpretation, and obviously a pro-life site is gonna interpret it for what they want. i never read something and say 'that's it, its a fact.' until i read what source they are referencing. that's all i'm saying, always review the sources yourself before believing.
some of the things on there--such as 'Women who abort are twice as likely to become heavy smokers' -- c'mon! studies show that smokers tend to start in HS when they are a teen....now suddenly if you have an abortion a study says you are gonna be a HEAVY smoker? i think that's a stretch......i just think that facts from a site that has an obvious one sided political agenda, should be taken with a grain of salt.

ok... so what did YOU read to lead YOU to believe the statistic YOU posted as fact?
Oh yeah, that's right... a 'source' you found on a biased website..

i posted links to those sites bc they list the full research study references and anyone who is interested can search for the full text articles. the studies are not conducted by the websites so i wouldnt judge the information by the website.

Yes but the webiste is touting this information as their source for their facts.....so they are responsible for giving out any type of info to people as a claim that it is the truth. If I give out literature to people that says something and state a fact on it...I am basically saying 'Trust this is the truth, becaues look I have a credible soruce here, and I have interepreted it as so.' and if someone comes to me and says its not correct or my interpretation is wrong....then its MY fault for not doing the research.' KWIM?
Its quite clear that this pamphlet is designed to kind of scare someone straight -- into not looking into abortion as an option...and that is fine I suppose since they are a pro-life organization. But I take issue with tossing around such stats in its literature that could be seen as just broad interpretations that work for their organization. Thats what I mean when I say 'take it with a grain of salt'
