High school and then right to work. Took alot of wrong paths and it's killing me now because I'm stuck in a boring, dead-end job. Was accepted into Hunter College in 6th grade-too scared to go. Then, in junior high, accepted into Stuyvesant & Bronx School of Science; once again, too scared to go. So ended up going to local HS which was a scary place at the time and ended up dropping out & getting my GED. No money for college.

If my teachers from junior high could see me now, they would freak. Feel like I wasted my entire teens and twenties.

Best of luck to all of you-hope you figure out what you want to do. Sorry for rambling-just hurts when I think about this kind of thing.

you're not the only one. I did EVERYTHING right... was in a gifted and talented program from 1st grade through junior high... went to college immediately after HS, went right into a job in my field from college, worked my way up to a television producer,..

then I got knocked up... lol

now I'm as clueless as I would have been in HS.

so don't put yourself down... we all choose different paths... they will eventually lead us somewhere... i believe

I have a Bachelor's in Psychology. I was planning on getting my doctorate, but became scared of all of the responsibilty I'd have with patients. At the same time, I was picked up to do Marketing work by the VP of the company I was working for at the time. I started working FT doing Marketing and was going to school FT at the same time. By the time I graduated, he made me a great offer and I was burnt out. So I didn't go to grad school. But I want to, and the company I'm with now will pay for it. I'm just deciding if I want to do it now or have a baby. It's easy for people to say go to grad school and have a baby later, but having a baby is really important to DH and I and not something we really want to put off much longer. BTW, I'm only 24, so I hear it all the time. But I make really good money ($20K more than I should at my age), so I feel like it's okay to put off the MBA.

I had my son when I was 25. I'm glad I did.

how do I got to Bus School, work full time & raise a 9 month old? I'm stuck in a rut.

That's EXACTLY how I feel. Granted, my son is seven, but we plan to have a baby within the next year or so... (I'm not young)

I'm torn...

Ladies, you CAN absolutely do it!! Just takes a little sacrifice and ALOT of patience! I went back for my BS with a 5 yr old AND 18 weeks pregnant w/ my daughter. During the pregnancy I just went to school and did my internship but after I had her I went back to work, plus had school and my internship and the 2 kids. Then on top of that my then fiance and I broke up.

Being a single mother just motivated me even more. I wanted to be able to support my children by myself. After graduating I started my Masters immedietly and finished in 1 year! It was freaking hard, but now that I look back it was so worth it.

My son was so cute, he used to say 'Mom, you must know everything now that your a Master!!'

got my BFA at 23, now am 26 and have no idea w t f I want to do in life... in same boat as you

You're still young & childless.... You have time sigh...I'm 33 WITH a child

I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about going for my BFA. I have a BA in communications and media, so all my bulls*it classes I dont have to take, just the art ones.

I spent about a year taking art & psychology classes for pre reqs to start grad school in Creative Art Therapy.

Now, I'm not so sure it's where I want to be.

I'm an artist but I don't have a DEGREE in art, so maybe that's what I should do.

If I didn't have a son and plan to have ANOTHER within the next few years, this would be much easier

Yea I hear ya... Youre YOUNG so don't evvvvven play that but I know it's nearly impossible with a kid...
I'd say go back part time at night while your hub is with your son.. but honestly, youre very talented and a BFA gets you nowhere! I'd hire you over someone with a degree based on talent alone. In most cases, in THIS field, the paper is meaningless!

Either way, I still think you'd be able to pull it off part time, even though it might take some time.. you still are young so do it NOW if anything! Good luck

I have my BA in Astronomy-Physics, MA in Physics and am currently working toward my PhD in Nuclear Physics. Got about 3 more years to go. I hope to become a professor and actually plan to start having kids before I graduate. The program is really flexible and I would be able to work a lot from home.

STILL finishing ym dang BA...I started in the work force and \never finished and now I should be done but missing ONE stinking math class that ahs NOTHING to do with teaching lil kids. So until i finish that I cannot graduate. I need two to certify despite passing all ym major.minor classes with flying colors and all of my teachign exams. Very frustrating.

are you teaching now?

I'm an a$$. I finished college right out of HS and went to work... NOW, I have no clue which direction I want to go in, b/c I gave up my career in TV.

Nope. ONLY because since I dont have the BA I'd have to do private school and they pay $21,000 in NJ. Here at least with the biatch whore supervsior I make 43,000...kinda hard to take half the pay with twice the workload. I LOVE kids but I also need to pay bills so I have to wait till I least have my BA, then I can sub.

I get tired just THINKING about it.
I don't think I have it in me.... I know I will eentually do it and be proud for it, but right now I just dont have the motivation =((

I applaud you btw. I was a single mother for the first 5 years of my son's life, but thankfuly I had my BA under my belt already. I couldnt IMAGINE going to school on top of all the responsibility.

my aunt got pregnant at 17, dropped out of high school and got her GED... She raised 5 kids being a SAHM most of her life and then started working for American Airlines part time, serving coffee in their executive lounge (or something)

She is now making WELL over 100 thousand a year as an EXECUTIVE at AA.

Reminds me that it doesn't matter what your 'degree' is, your work ethic, motivation and stamina is what gets you places.

I always HATED school and just wanted to finish as quickly as possible.

I got my BA in Speech-Language Pathology at 20, and my MS in speech-language pathology at 22, got married that summer right before turning 23.

I have my BA from an Ivy... but that's it. I took the LSAT and wanted to go to law school but by then I was REALLY tired of school

With all the bills and debt we have now (and not being able to live off of just one salary), going back to school is not something I'm thinking about just now. Maybe down the line.

I have a B.S. in Information Science and an M.B.A. with an emphasis on Information Technology.

ETA: Sorry - I just finished reading the entire thread. I'm in a totally different boat as I don't have any children & I was single when I went back for my MBA, so I can't really comment on that based on personal experience. I do know many women who have managed to juggle work and their children somehow, so I think that you can definitely do it if it's something that you really want; but that being said, I wouldn't go back just for the sake of going back. It's going to be a lot on you, so definitely make sure it's something that you want...a lot easier said than done, I know

On another note, over the past year I have seen a lot of your artwork posted and it's been phenomenal stuff! Have you considered something like Graphic Design? I've known a few Marketing Dept's this past year that were looking for really creative graphic artists...

i have an MS in HR Management... did it full time right after college. Just wanted to get it over with. Happy I did it, but it ****** while doing it. Especially working full time and going to school full time -- I don't recommend that AT ALL!

i have my BS in business admin and my BM in violin performance. i've wanted my masters since graduating in 2003, but i put my education on hold so DH could get his PhD. i say i'll go back when he's finally done, but that's still 2 yrs away or so. i'll be 28 and after working full time for 5 yrs, i don't know how easy it will be for me to go back to school. . . we'll see. . .

So far, only high school. However, I'm only 20 & I'm now half way to my associates at Nassau. I plan to go on to nursing school & then hopefully become a certified nurse midwife.

I feel like I'm going to be in school FOREVER. I'm only part-time right now because I'm working & raising a kid. I'm so ready to be done
