? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

I know their policy recently changed where newlyweds have only 6 months after their wedding date to purchase any remaining items on their registry, using the 10% off. How many of you are actually doing this?

At first I thought it was a great deal, but what's 10% really??!! I added up all that's left on my registry, and it's still about $1000 - my DH would KILL me if he knew I thought about this, even though we'll only save $100 or so.....

With all the money we've spent on the wedding, and how much we're still spending post-wedding, on the photographer and videographer, I may pass this up and just try and buy pieces here and there when we can. (My china pattern is brand new, so it's not going to be discontinued anytime soon)

What's everyone else doing?

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

I passed it up because really 10% only saved me the tax on whats left. I can't afford it right now so I will purchase whats left when I can.

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

We have a few hundred dollars in GC & credits so we are going to finish our crystal with the 10% coupon but otherwise, I wouldnt really think about it.

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

Christine - Thanks for reminding me! We do have a few Gift certificates from Fortunoffs - not $1000 worth, but it will certainly help.

Anna - I'd be surprised if Fortunoff's accepted other coupons too

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

IMO, I think Fortunoff is good with their policies. They honor prices from other stores and discounts as the coupons from BBB. They are also good with their warranties.

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

Anna ... when I was there on Saturday, I read that they do meet competitors' prices ... I will check with my brother, because he works there!!!
And Teri, no I didn't use the 10% ... only because I get an employee discount which is 20%! But you are right, 10% isn't that much!!
Actually I'm hoping to replace some of my china pieces through the Lenox outlet -- I'll even save more there!!!

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

We thought the same thing .... 10% ... that amounts to little more than the tax. But with GCs & a credit, we'll probably use it to complete our stemware. I agree ... most of the time, you can get the same thing on sale somewhere else.

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

Just a note on Fortunoffs - in some cases you can do better than 10% if you talk to the dept manager. If you are say completing your china ask for the free soup bowls (they run that promotion for various patterns at different times of the year). If you have all you china but not all your crystal or silver tell them and see what they will do for you to complete your crystal.
Just let them know what a good customer you are and how much business you brought in from your registery.

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

I registered at Macys and they do that but for 3 months.

I used a bunch of my gift cards on a sale day and bought some of the things that I really wanted (for me it was my bakeware - I got all my china pieces between the shower and wedding) to me.

Macys did something really cool. I was buying some other household items (slip covers which were kind of pricey but on sale) that day and they gave me the 10% extra on those items too. They just added them to my registery and gave me the 10%. The savings really added up!!!

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

I passed my mark with the date, and didnt use it either

But I still LOVE that store.

Like tammy said I always get those coupons for BB&B, and Linens & Things, and that is an excuse to go buy something

Re: ? for those that registered at Fortunoff's

I went to use my 10% discount...to finish my china...there was a sale on them...and they wouldn't let me use the 10% ontop of the sale...so it worked out to be exactly the same...
