For those who look a lot younger than they are...

Original post by Butterfly123

Do you ever feel like people dont take you seriously when you say your DH is your husband. At the hospital, I told the security guard I was going in to see my husband and he looked at me like I was lying. I feel like carrying around my marriage certificate sometimes to shut people up. And a lot of times when I say 'my husband' peoples first reactions are 'HOW OLD ARE YOU?' Its so annoying...Vent over

CMON I know this happens to other people. And to make matters worse, the orderly said he thought I was his sister. I think I have to divorce him now...

if it makes you feel better.. i went to a wake with my brother and someone we havent seen for years thought my brother was my husband.. people sometimes dont think or see that we look very much alike(me and my bro)!! this person has never even seen DH! so go figure..

when I was dating a guy several years my senior, people thought I was his daughter. OH the fun I had with that one.

Nothing is more fun than saying 'oh honey, he's not my father' and then grabbing his @ss.

YES! and it is SO annoying. I get it at work A LOT. It happened to me the other day when getting a manicure- the person doing my nails pointed to my ring and said I was too young to be married (I'm 28, so really, not that young)

Edited to fix my awful typos...

I was recently mistaken for a 6-8th grader while walking through a middle school- I was asked for a freakin hall pass!!

most people think that I am the younger daughter or that my mom is my sister. I haven't gotten the 'your too young to be married', but I do get carded for drinks!

I get this...

Other person: 'You're married?'
Me: 'Yes!'
Other person: 'How old are YOU?'
Me: '23'
Other person (response varies): 'But you're so young!' 'Why would you want to be married already?' or some other ridiculous comment...

Glad IM not the only one. The grocery store guys always smirk when I try to buy a lotto ticket. But I dont mind showing my ID. It really doesnt bother me. Unless I forget it and then Im pissed cause Im over 21 and cant prove it. Its just when people comment on me being married or just thinking IM some dumb 'kid' when they have no idea how old I am.

this happens to me alllllllll the time......just last night I was at Curves gym considering signing up, and the lady's like 'are you a student?', and I'm like NO I'm 28!!! I just KNOW she was thinking high school DH is 33 and he looks 18 too, so at least he doesn't look like he's robbing the cradle!

Re: For those who look a lot younger than they are...

it is aggrevating sometimes. Dh and I always get asked for ID when we go to buy cigs from a store nearby. Last time i showed him my wedding ring and said do you think im under 18 and married, he just laughed at me. I had changed bags and forgot my id in my other bag. I know i look younger but i really dont think i look like im under 18, but i guess when i go out without make up and just dressed down it doesnt help

In alot of ways i dont mind, but like you said i feel sometimes people dont take us seriously. Doesn't help that dh also looks young so i think many times they just see us as this foolish young couple and dont take us seriously. Dh hates it more bc of work. He had to go meet with clients, he is the one in charge of the jobs and when DH introduced himself the guy laughed and asked how old he was, and couldnt believe Dh was the guy he had been talking to on the phone the whole time. At the end of the day when he saw dh knew what he was doing he apologized and just said that he doesnt even look like he's 30.

If this continues to happen though while were in our 30's im sure i wont mind at all.

This happens to me all the time! Whenever people see my rings they are like you are married, how old are you!!! My Dh also gets embarrassed sometimes because he says that if I do not have mu on and my hair in a pony tail I look so young!!!
I kind of like it. I like looking younger then I am. My whole family looks younger then they are and love it. When you get older then you will really appreciate it!!!
