Re: Honestly ladies, how much DID you get $ on the night of

We paid for the whole wedding ourselves... for everything including rings, wedding day jewelry, honeymoon, gifts, stamps for the invitations, tips, I mean EVERYTHING the grand total was $35K. We got about $7K in cash that night. The rest was checks. Overall we got a little over $35K total but that is including very generous gifts from our parents, grandparents, and 3 of my uncles. These 6 people accounted for about 1/2 of the gifts.

Re: Honestly ladies, how much DID you get $ on the night of

We got about 1/3 of the total wedding costs so we have debt to pay off, but we expected this. We payed for the majority of the wedding and Honeymoon, some family helped, but the bulk of it was us. It was still worth it. I didn't want to skimp on this major life event even if we didn't have all the money-but I did research and try to keep cost low. The whole gift thing isn't something that I really wanted to dwell on, it should be about people being there to enjoy and share in this event, but I do relate to others that are just a little pissed off or my choice of words 'surprised' with some guests lack of good behavior or guests frugal gifts ie: boss who makes 4x my salary and doesn't even cover her and her husbands plate!

Anyway, my DH is being more firm about Not sending TY to everyone, meanwhile I feel regardless of anyone else's bad manners, we should keep to our standards and send TY's to all our guests for coming!!

We got about $3k in cash and the rest ( a lot) in checks. We used part of the cash for our HM and it really was convenient.

oops, sorry I misunderstood your question and got lost with the money gifts, total cost of wedding, who paid for what etc. Anyway... I think we got about maybe $1000-2000 in cash, can't remember, but we did deposit it all the next day and was able to have cash for the honeymoon-spending money. that was great.
