How much is your typical grocery bill?

How much is your typical grocery bill?

I am wondering if we are average spenders while food shopping....I know that when we have to buy meat, it is more.....I guess that even when we buy meat or seafood it really is only $20-$40 dollars more anyway.....so try to estimate it as a regular shopping for your house bill. TIA!

When I go to the grocery store for a small trip it is always 50 bucks or more, when I go for the big shopping day it is over 150 and we are just 2 people!!!

I go every Saturday or Sunday and the smallest my bill ever is is around $100 and with meats and fish it can go close to 170ish.....I can't imagine what it will be like when we have kids! This is JUST for DH and I. I mean, our cabinets and freezer are filled with stuff, I can really go like a month without having to buy anything other than a couple of meats...but still...I'd rather have a variety and never run out of stuff.

Dh goes nuts at the supermarket lol. When we go grocery shopping its around $200 or more, even when we went this past saturday grocery shopping we were saying our goal was to stay under $200 and don't think it happened, i think maybe we just came in right under that and thats bc the cashier put in her discount for us or i should say DH she really annoyed me and instead of ringing us up at first she just stood there smiling at DH until she realized what she was doing but even then she didnt stop, at least we got a discount

The sad part is that it seems like we're spending that much every week or maybe a little over a week. Problem is the meat we buy, plus dh always wants to get shrimp, then he always buys pork and sausages to make sauce once a week. Plus always getting steaks. The other problem I think is we buy too many beverages, i blame this on Dh too for example he always buys LOTS of vitamin waters and at the same time buy a bunch of snapple's, we also get the packs of redbull, then he wants fanta and other bottles of soda, plus he has to have juice and always gets two kinds, all that really adds up. Half the refrigerator is filled with beverages

i never used to get the supermarket discount cards or any of those type of things and last week I finally said maybe we should get it. Next time I gonna convince dh we should stay under $200

We go once a week, and usually it is between $60-$100, typically more like $70-$80. That also includes cleaning stuff, sometimes bathroom stuff, tissues, TP, etc. We buy it all at the grocery store.

ETA: sometimes we go in between for a couple of things, but usually not more than $15 worth.....we also cook dinner basically every night and rarely eat out

we go once a month to price club (costco) and spend about 200-250 on the bulk stuff.... Toilet paper, papertowels, laundry detergent, meats, shampoos, toothpaste, dish soap soda cans, water bottles.

then we go to the supermarket i only go to pathmark becuase the savings is unbelieveable.. on my reciept it tells you how much you save and its always $50.

and i get all the staples, rice, veggies, pasta, potatos, soda bottles things i dont want in bluk.. if i want to make a special meal ill get all that stuff. and its usually about $150 and i only go once every 2-3 weeks.

i think we do great when it comes to food shopping.

Ours is usually 150 and change. And it would be less if we went to a cheaper supermarket but we love best Yet in Astoria. Its just a bit on the pricey side.

wow 200 a month, that is real good. Where do you guys go grocery shopping, not just you but others lol. Thats $50 a week so really not bad at all.

Do you buy alot of meat or what type of things normally. Also do you cook every night? I cook almost every single night plus when dh gets home from work make him lunch since lately he doesnt even have time to eat at work. Then on weekends i make breakfast, plus dinner of course

depending on the week, we spend anywhere from $50-$80 on groceries. this past week was a good week - only $42!! but that's because we're moving and wanted to use up all the food we had in the freezer.

DH and I eat very well. Alot of fresh produce and good lean meats and I keep our food bill under
60 bucks a week and that includes lunches for dh 3 days out of the week.

We eat home 5 nights out of the week and we usually dont cook on the weekends.

We have recently changed our eating habits and we are only eating out once a week.

I would rather spend money on other things besides food, so I clip and print out coupons and I usually get 100% worth of food everyweek but for almost half the price!!!

we spend about 100 one week of the month and 50-75 the rest of the weeks. i buy the meats when its on sale and freeze it. i think we buy a lot of stuff on sale using our supermarket card. last year it said we saved almost $800. i cook every night too but i plan my meals according to what i have. when i try to create meals each week, i find that my bill gets much higher.

Re: How much is your typical grocery bill?

We usually spend $150 or more if we add meat to our grocery list. We did our grocery shopping two Sunday's ago and we finally decided to use of the ads that get delivered to the house every week. DH browsed which supermarket would be best for our shopping needs that week, I guess it worked because DH only spent $90 that week and bought home everything on the list.
