Ok so we received our TY's are really anal and sending them out asap. I am just having trouble with the wording you know? I tried searching for old topics and am still at a standstill. I know it should be somewhat heartfelt and personalized but I am just in a slump! Can anyone help???

hmm well we haven't done them yet (no TYs yet) but I would think include something about thank you for sharing in our special day.....it meant a lot that you were there supporting us as we start our new life together....something about thank for the generous gift.....if there's a personal anecdote for those people maybe include that? We look forward to celebrating many more happy occasions with you?

JennA do you want the standard greeting that you can customize? We went with a variation of this for gifts:
Gift TY sample:
'Dear So and So,
Thank you so very much for the thoughftulness of your gift. The wine glasses are gorgeous and we know we will get so many years of pleasure out of using them as excuses to bring our family and friends closer to celebrate special occasions with us. We hope that you will consider our door always open and come have a drink with us the next time you're in town.

Money TY card Sample:
'Dear So and So.
Thank you so much for your generous gift. We're adding it to our 'new house fund' and hope that when that day finally arrives, you will be there with us to christian it with the love and laughter of family and friends that will make it a real home.
We wanted our wedding day to be as full of love as we plan the rets of our lives to be and we are so thankful you were able to celebrate with us and send your good wishes. We hope you continue to celebrate with us through the course of our lives and consider our door always open.

You can make any variation. For family we were more personal, mentioning funny incidents and things that happened like my MOG saving me when my dress fell down and I flashed half my guests. But the others work as the 'standard' that you can adapt.
And this below is the 'forumla' for the traditional thank you card whether its for a wedding or anything else. Customize it to work for you. Hope that helps!
1) Salutation (Tip use name as printed on the gift or invitation) 2) Thank you for insert gift, event or favor here 3) Positive comment regarding what you are thanking them for. 4) Mention what you'll use the gift for (you can do it even if its cash like 'this will come in so ahndy for our house/couch/whatever fund) -or- Positive mention of the recipient that ties into #3 5) A second thanks 6) The Sign Off
You dont have to write anything super long. Its nice to personalize them, but sometimes it is hard- especially if it is a parents friend or something like that. If someone gave you a physical gift rather than money, you should thank them for the specific gift. For money, we thanked people for the generous gift. I personally felt weird writing 'money' or 'check.' But people do do that. If people traveled from out of town, you can also thank them for making the trip. Otherwise we thanked people for either celebrating with us or for being apart of our special day.
Jenna you can also goHERE I randomized each one simple and to the point according to how I felt. I also did NOT go into great lengthy details about how we would be using our gifts or money -regardless of ideas on etiquette. I don't think that is necessary, mostly just the thank you is for taking the time in sharing in your day and just acknowledging that they did give you something - if they did at all.
