I have to drive to JFK in this cr@p! Vent!
My good friend's grandma passed away yesterday in Florida, so she is flying down there today and coming back Saturday. When I originally offered to drive her to the airport, I was led to believe it would be MacArthur since I thought she told me she had a voucher for SW. Apparently, either I misunderstood or she was wrong, b/c she's got the voucher for Jet Blue, so I have to schlep her to JFK! Dont get me wrong, I love my friends to death, but I always seem to be the airport taxi. And I never need them to reciprocate b/c I only go places w/ DH, and we can park for free at JFK b/c he works there! I told my friend that if the weather ended up being snow/ice today that she'd be better off taking the train to Jamaica to the air train. Then she tells me her bank account is empty and the only reason she's even going to FL is cuz she had the free airfare. She has no money to spend while she's down there. etc. I have no sympathy for her anymore. I used to lend her money years ago, but when she'd always tell me about the clothes and things she'd buy (rather than paying off bills perhaps), I told her no more. Not that she was using MY money to buy fun things, but when she DID have money, she didn't use it for anything intelligent, and then when she really needed it, she'd ask me! AND, this was my friend who was in my wedding party, never even got me a shower gift (yet she told me the day of my shower that she didn't have it for me that day but I'd get it - yeah, still never got it), never had money for anything...
I know I may sound selfish, I just feel like I do everything for her and it's never reciprocated (whether it be financial or not). DH got fed up w/ her during my shower planning and he's already told me that when it's her turn, I am not going above and beyond - and I totally agree! I know that sounds awful, but IMO you don't agree to be in someone's wedding party if you have no money and don't plan to save any!
Okay... vent over! Thanks for reading!![]()
