I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

We are not. We want to, but not yet.

It is getting so hard, all of our friends are now parents- we are behind, we got married last, etc.

Anyway, I am so happy for them all, but we have fewer and fewer people to hang out with!

Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

Well, we were just married...and someone actually asked us at the wedding in the recieving line, when we were going to start!
we're waiting for a few years to enjoy our new life together. we've never lived together, so this is all new to us, and i think it would be too much if we had a baby around too!
besides, we're the first of our friends to get married...so we're in no rush!!!

Nope, not us. Our pug will be our baby soon.

P.S. MIL hates that I say that.

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

We are but we are in our mid-late 30's, lived together, have a house & been together for almost 8 years. So I'm not offended when EVERYONE asked when we got back from HM if I was preggers ...

HOWEVER ... if not for what I already said, I think it would bug me & I think we would definitely want OUR time for a while.

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

probably not for another 2 years.

we didn't live with eachother prior to getting married- so we want to enjoy eachother's company and develop a solid relationship before we add to our family.

We are still enjoying living together, traveling etc....
We want a house first, so I am guessing we will not seriously discuss it for a few more years.

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

we aren't - as much as we love them - we know relistically we still have so much to do to 'get ready' for being parents.....i met a woman in michaels the other day while shopping with a newly married friend and the woman had three kids sleeping in the cart with her...we got to chatting and she found out we had both just gotten married and told us in her opinion you should wait at least 3 yrs to just get to know your husband as your husband...it seemed like good advice!

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

I would love nothing more than to have a baby right now. I always joke and bug DH about it. But I know in my heart we are not ready yet and probably won't be for at least another year or two. We have to get a house and I have to get settled into my career first. Its funny how bad everyone around us wants us to have kids. In a handful of our wedding cards, people said they can't wait to be great aunts, or grandparents or for us to have a baby. I can say, I am so excited to have a baby, but just not yet!! When the time is right we will know and it will happen.

ETA-I will be 27 in July and DH will be 31 in August!! I still think we have plenty of time, but would definitly like to have my first before I turn 30.

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

my husband and i are both turning 31 this year. we want to have a baby yet were still selfish and want time to ourselves to travel, spend $$ and sleep and !!! were also really trying to save for a house, which is depressing in itself :( At the same time, i feel the bio clock is ticking.

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

Hi Sunny!
I'm in the same boat as you. Having kids is defintly in the plan, but not at the present. I'm 26 and DH is 28, and as much as we would love to have a baby, it's not something we want to rush into right away! Like the other posts, we are just settling into our lives as husband and wife - and even though we've been together going on 7 years, we know having a child is something that we really need to be ready for, financially and emotionally :) After the all the chaos of the wedding planning, it's nice now to just enjoy married life!! We're planning on another 2 years before we start - we figure we'll be ready by that time, and hopefully have all these wedding expenses paid off by then too!

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

NOPE not for 2-3 years - If I had things my way I would have one tomorrow - but it is just not right for us now. We have been together for almost 7 years - but right now I am unemployed (interview monday wish me luck!) and DH is in his last year of law school. We will be moving back to NY either dec/jan or May depending on how his schedule goes and whether he gets the externship he wants. So things are not settled yet - we want to both be settled in before we start considering it - we think that 2-3 years would be a perfect time - Also this gives us some time to have just DH and I time as a married couple first.

I can't wait to have kids but now is just not the right time. I am 28 (29 in Sept) and Dh is 29 (30 in July)

Re: I know this has been posted before, but any other newlyweds not ready to have babies?

We are not even close to be ready to have kids. We have been married for 10 months and we have been asked a few times.

We are hoping to wait at least 2-3 years before having kids. There's so much we want to do before then -- travel, get new cars, improve the house. Plus, we still want to advance in our careers.

You will now when the time is right!

Lori, my FIL said a lovely speech at the wedding where he said he quit smoking (4-5 packs a DAY! A strong brand too) right before he came over to the States because he wants to be alive to see his grandkids. How's THAT for pressure! LOL

We will start TTC in the new year.
